  • Bagua Zhang, or Eight Trigram Palm, is a style well known for its internal ability. Bagua gets much of its practice from the principles of the balance of yin and yang. This form utilizes circle walking, the trademark of Bagua practices, to teach indirect striking and fluidity in movement. The circle walking on its own has strong foundations as an internal art and can be used as a meditative workout. The goal of this practice is to promote soft movement, strong focus, and internal sensation as well fast attacks, stable posture, and external power.

We do not have qinggong in the curriculum. Though I do plan on doing a bagua tutorial as this is one of my favorite practices.

It goes pretty fast but I think I can see the following double-palm changes like dragon, monkey, hawk, tiger, bear, swallow, snake, phoenix. Different systems have name variations. But I think I saw whirlwind palms (8 immortals) near the beginning but not sure. Would be greatly appreciated if you could provide a name for the changes and the time-stamp in the video when you do them. Big help.

In our system, the names are very generic. I know that it has roots elsewhere where the postures may be named in more details, but in our form list it is broken into sections and just has a general name for each one like "single/double changing palm" or "smooth power palm". I have also mixed the sections together and keep the momentum flowing from one to the next. I love bagua because of the creation and chaotic order that it embodies.

Yea, I am always trying to find Chinese music. This is one that my wife found. It is difficult to get that epic bpm without using the same songs all of the time.
