  • This car was a real pain to clean. It required a lot of elbow grease, but I hope the 25 hour, multiple stage, deep clean was worth it.

    Cool vid. Can I make a suggestion? Ive tried the method of using an iron/contaminant remover first on a dirty wheel, along with cleaning the wheel first with APC and a chemical of your choice with agitation. I then spray a sample size of the iron remover to see if any embedded particles on the wheel or remaining brake dust appears and usually it isnt the case. Just wanted to mention to save product! Cheers!

      @LostDetails.  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for the suggestion mate. I actually tried this on the front left wheel. APC didn’t make a difference. If anything, it diluted the Gtechniq.
      With wheels this far gone, you’re better off going for a fallout remover.

    • @levimundy5560
      @levimundy5560 3 года назад +2

      Bang on Jimmy, as you say everyone has their own way but alot of RUclips just put iron fallout on dirty cars so its looks alot worse than it is when a quick APC and blast off would remove most the mess and then let the iron remover actually dwell on the actually contamination

    • @kwl189
      @kwl189 3 года назад +1

      Depends on how far gone the alloy is. Even the a strong apc like Surfex HD at 10:1 would struggle to shift caked on brake dust this bad I reckon. Took a lot of hard work to get my alloys sorted with it. Those alloys were filthy over the winter.

  • @leonbradley1407
    @leonbradley1407 3 года назад +4

    Always better of pre washing the alloys like you do with the paintwork. Then apply a fallout remover. That way Yr saving product and the product can work on the iron contaminants. Agitate then rinse of.

      My speciality is exterior detailing, and I try to centre my videos around this.
      However, I am investing in a better tripod that allows me to get decent footage of interiors. You will not be disappointed after watching my upcoming videos!

      filming inside vehicles is a nightmare as there is no space for a good shot and then you almost always get in the way of the camera while cleaning. Bright light outside and dark interior is also a problem. Good luck with getting the interior shots so we can all enjoy watching you do your magic!

    Good job sir. And in your good clothes and shoes too! I watch car cleaning videos endlessly and wonder how some people dress so well and manage to keep relatively clean. When I've washed a particularly dirty vehicle I end up looking like I've just been rescued from a collapsed mine shaft.

    Great job on the Golf. The hours of work you have put into decontaminating and refining the car is excellent. You’ve just put a minimum of increase of 1k on that car. It looks like new. Meguiars products are very good. You could try a Carpro CQUK 3.0 ceramic coating in a real world situation next.

      Gtechniq W6 is most potent when used on dry surfaces. It can easily shift 99% of contamination when left to dwell for a few minutes.
      Pre-rinsing can dilute W6. If I pre-rinsed, I would have to use even more product to compensate for the dilution factor.

      Tar spots. I didn’t have a tar remover at hand unfortunately.

  • @jakepocock1616
    @jakepocock1616 3 года назад

    Wheels: You'd be best off doing a wash with a wheel cleaner, then doing in with a fallout remover. You end up wasting a lot of product doing it that way.
    Badges & fuel door: use apc in/on when the snowfoam is dwelling. You'll save yourself a good amount of time, and the extra lubrication from the foam will reduce any damage inflicted.
    Use chemical decontamination. There's a lot of tar, and fallout left on the car itself.
    Clay: use a bigger size portion of it, and cover a wider area. I re-snowfoam the car and use thst as lube.
    Don't forget to rinse the car again after claying, don't, over to drying straight away.
    Decent go, but your process definitely could use refining, and you'd save product, get better results and knock off hours easily. Timing it well, I could do everything you did in less than a day.

    Observation not criticism, while the snow foam is on do the fiddly bits with the detail brush, will save you time going back over it, did you decontaminate before clay/ machine polishing?? Looked good though good work

    • @AntEloftheHouseofEl
      @AntEloftheHouseofEl 3 года назад

      Bit of advice. You should never do your detail brush work while the car is foamed.
      Why?
      Because at this point a large amount of dirt is still clinging to the paintwork or encapsulated in the foam.
      Your brush work is then moving and grinding that dirt into the paint.

    Was it just Meguiar's Ultimate Polish you used on the gloss back door trim to remove the swirl marks?
