Nothing like setting off small explosives in the dark....my mother's neighbor still won't talk to her after what my brother and I did to her trees 45 years ago...cmon lady, the flames weren't that big and they didn't get that close to the house.
As much as I enjoyed fireworks when I was younger as a adult I decided the safest thing for the kids was to go to my county's local fireworks display it's done by a professional, the kids get to enjoy the display at a safe distance and there is a bare minimum of a chance for harm ,as a kid I almost blew off some of my fingers when I detonated a m80 within inches of my hand (short fast fuse)I dropped it ,it blew blistered my hand luckily it didn't tear the skin but it was damned painful learned my lesson fireworks are not for tossing or holding and always use a wick to light them to keep all your fingers! As a adult I leave it to the professionals, not as swift or as bullet proof as I was in my youth! Ha ha and I'm a bit smarter!
And the word of the day is; "almost," meaning that things went wrong. Not TOO wrong, but just wrong enough that it raises one's blood pressure while watching.
