For me I wouldn’t want to go to jail because it kinda ruins your whole life. It’s a really traumatic place and it’s difficult to get a job when you get out.

I chose lose a year because if you’re in jail for a year it’s nearly impossible to get back on your feet, so it’s basically losing the rest of your life, while losing a year just means you’re one year less but it’s fine because you can still get a job easily (or, as easily as getting a job can be) and not have to deal with the struggle of having jail time on your record.
