A perfect blending of music to story. The music supports but does not overpower the story line. And, the George C. Scott and Susannah York film version of Jane Eyre is the best of them all. The ending gets me every time.
Works like this one prove that John Williams is more than just a maker of popcorn & pop culture film scores. He is a versatile composer and artist. It's too bad that most people in the U.S. only associate him with Spielber & Lucas, although those are great scoring works themselves. I'm glad I came across this on RUclips. Thanks for putting this on.
The overwhelming joy of this score makes my life worth living. I don't think "thanks" are in order, as you were born with a gift that you didn't ask for and for which you will be forever remembered
This suite explains A LOT!! it’s not only amazing music it’s also VERY educational in many different ways, study this Suite a must. Not just the notes but also study the spirit within this music 🎶
The best version and the best theme of Jane Eyre is 1970's ever made, and Charlotte Bronte is smiling upon this version reflecting true essence of her great work.
Williams' mentor and friend Bernard Herrmann, who wrote the score of the Jane Eyre movie in the 40's praised Williams' own score. That may explain why Williams considered it as one of his best work.
The fade out at the end of the vídeo was scare me! for a few second my mind think about the day than maestro John Williams leave this world, and I just start to cry! Nice picture for this vídeo. Amazing composer!
Early John Williams is awesome. You can hear how he returned to some of these motifs decades later for Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. I love all his Irish-inspired themes.
I have heard this theme many times, and many times it melts my heart and soul. Relishing every sequence of the story described in book and depicted in the movie (of 1970 by George C. Scott), the music is heavenly sent.
+Aevaluss The inspiration would be the Fantasy on Greensleeves by Vaughan-Williams (which he recorded and was released on the same album as the suite from Jane Eyre). English pastorale music has a great influence on Williams. To score this film he spent soem time in England. Recent works such as War Horse, The Force Awakens or his oboe concerto are also deeply influence by the english music idiom.
+GGbreizh Your input on Williams' work is insightful and appreciated. Certainly, his effort by spending time in England is paid for in order to reflect the true essence of Charlotte Bronte's great works.
John Williams!

Southern Biscuits Good, yes, but I vote for Orson Wells and Joan Fontaine
Me, too. The contrasts and shadows conjure up the dark romance of the story.
“Reader, I married him.”
@@robinjackson7882 The background music (strings) was way too loud in that version...
I love thos peace of music , its so hauntingly romantic
FYI: I'd rather listen to a longer ad at the beginning, than to have an incredible composition broken up while trying to enjoy it.

John Prudent Absolutely yes!

The 1970 is the masterpiece of all time!

Thanks for the input. I think this is one of his best pieces, but sadly, it is not widely recognized in U.S..
we love it too! perfect for Jane Eyre!!!

+- Javier Jerez - No worries! He's alive, and his great works continue and live on.
Sounds like another Williams- Vaughan Williams. Haha. But the work on Jane Eyre is absolutely a master piece.

Jane Eyre ❤
Bootiful.
great Television Work by John Williams. I think it has the same level like Jerry Goldsmith score for „Masada“ and „The Red Pony“
8:00 - Faure - Pelleas and Melisande - Sicilienne

Who else is here from Kurt Biederwolf's orchestral mockup class at Berklee?
Did you actually went to this Berklee class or did you manage to find it somewhere on the web ? Im very curious xD
the first melody sounds like Brahms F minor Piano Quintet's opening
Seems fine but Herrmann’s is the definitive Jane Eyre score.
Both are effective in their own ways. Herrmann wrote the darker one, one course.
Give credit where due. It's more than "fine".
Herrmann himself was an admirer of Williams' score.
