Stern fixed the issue with a thicker plexiglass underneath for all games that were produced after March 2024. You probably just fixed the level when installing the mod which helps with the airballs, however the mod is now pretty much obsolete.
Those rubber washers, under the Munsters lower playfield cover stay on the screws every time if you just loosen the screws just enough to remove the plastic. Easy to keep track of them if they don't come loose in the first place. I'm just guessing this is the case here as well. Haven't removed this piece on any of my Jaws machines yet. No real airball issues on the three games I service. I adjusted the target a little. That's all that mine needed.
Cant wait to get this Fix! I have an LE Version and I noticed this problem instantly. It feels like the game is really fast and the flippers are hitting the ball really strong and I am using all of the default settings. It happens a lot, like just about every game for me and it seems to happen when I hit the ball fast and hard. I have watched hours of people playing this on RUclips Streams and I have not noticed others complaining. Not really sure why I noticed it immediately but anyway super happy there is such a great fix. THANK YOU to whoever you are! (You know after spending 14K on this machine, it would be awesome if Stern offered to pick up the tab on this, as it appears to be a huge oversight. Not sure how it got past all the Testing but then again as I said I did not see it happening on the RUclips Live Streams. Is it possible my settings are somehow different making the ball travel faster or the flippers hit stronger than what I have seen in the Live Streams?)
You can speed up the install by leaving the screws and rubber o-rings on the plastic. Just unscrew the screws from the playfield and remove the plastic with the screws and o-rings still in place!
We've played like 50+ games on Jaws so far, never seen this airball described situation yet. But for those worried about it, does seem like a neat solution.
Many early production models here in Chicago are notorious for this. Most of the local pinheads won’t touch Jaws due to this - that side of the playfield is nearly inaccessible.
I’ve only played mine 5 times and didn’t notice this issue yet. It’s hard to believe that the ball, moving at a fairly high rate of speed, would be able to flex the plastic enough to cause this problem. Very good solution though to what is obviously an issue at some point.
Presumably, it's because the playfield is angled. The ball is being fired up a slope, so there's a force pushing down. I wonder what wear will be like around the slot...
@D.R.Pinball okay this makes sense. I was like "man, people love backing stuff no matter what." I am disappointed in the game considering what it could have/should have been.
That seems like a massive oversight by Stern. Seems like people were hating on this game, but I remained optimistic for this release (not a collector, just a player/competitor), but after seeing this, I now have to agree with those haters. Stern flopped on this one, no pun intended. This doesn't just concern airballs getting stuck or damaging components, but the playfield will also suffer continual damage as time goes on. If not by the ball pushing it down, then by the ball striking the opening's edges repeatedly.
No, but printed ones are available via my website contact form (rocketcitypinball.com) or Pinside shop (pinside.com/pinball/shops/shop/1282-rocket-city-pinball/by-game/3193-jaws-pro)
Yes, you can email me at rocketcitypinball@gmail.com, or contact me through my website (rocketcitypinball.com), or purchase in my pinside shop (pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1282-rocket-city-pinball/by-game/3193-jaws-pro). Thanks!
Yeah, I was as as underwhelmed playing that game as Dreyfus was to unenthusiastically mutter “uhhh … jack - pot” into the mic as he was recording his callouts. Stern can now turn DOWN the boiling frog water temperature on these insane prices! 🤷♂️
@michaelperlewitz8410 it's slow. Alot if horizontal bouncing and ball play is slow. The movie scenes and right flippers stop all speed and flow. The 5 I have seen installed locally all don't work properly, and it was designed cheaply using cost as basis not using innovation and creativity as a basis. It shows. The spinners are flat/blah, take up too much space, and top right bar in front causes nonstop airballs as well getting balls stuck or breaking components. Everyone I have talked to agreed its worse than venom and elwins worst by far. You may like the liscence, but the play is bad and gets old so fast.
Sounds good! Yeah I need a little more time to get the surface just right. They're tricky to print due to the funky geometry of the surface that interfaces with the lockdown bar.
Thanks for the explanation! Saw this being mentioned a couple of times but couldn't understand what the problem is until this showed up for me.
And this is our 7-13k investment! Great job rocket city PB!
Thanks so much for this, just installed mine and it fixed a lot of my air ball issues.

Great video! No BS, just a clear explanation of the problem, great install instructions, and a demonstration of the fix.
Awesome job. I’m waiting for delivery of my machine and will be contacting you right away if it has this problem. Thanks in advance.
Thanks! Let me know when you're ready!

Very nice machine and fix. Thanks for posting this.
Andy, this is awesome! Poor design by Stern, but thanks to your creative genius, you fixed the issue.
Well done! Thanks for this mod Andy!…

Great solution, nicely done!
Simple and effective - nice work

It does

I wonder what wear will be like around the slot...
Also, it could be misaligned before the ball gets there in the first place.
Nice job Andy!
Nice fix. I've played a couple of these machines and haven't experienced this issue myself, but it would be frustrating to deal with.
Keeping in mind that plastics tend to warp up or down with time, this mid fixes at least half of the issue…
Wow this game just keeps getting better
By other people fixing it?
@@skippychurch2965 sarcasm.
Played it once and when the inlane post came up for me to watch a movie clip, I almost walked away.

Save that kind of negativity for Pinside. Game looks and plays great!
Also why its a replacable plastic. But yeah sterns not exactly doing top quality engineering
Well done sir
Nice! Are you making the STL available?
No, but printed ones are available via my website contact form (rocketcitypinball.com) or Pinside shop (pinside.com/pinball/shops/shop/1282-rocket-city-pinball/by-game/3193-jaws-pro)
Hi there, I have a Jaws arriving this week, can I purchase one of these spacers from you directly?
Yes, you can email me at rocketcitypinball@gmail.com, or contact me through my website (rocketcitypinball.com), or purchase in my pinside shop (pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1282-rocket-city-pinball/by-game/3193-jaws-pro). Thanks!
Usual Stern Kwalität nowadays....
Hopefully Stern will fix this issue on future iterations of the machine. This really shouldn't happen on machinery for around 9000 €
Well done!
Doesnt Stern test their games anymore? Totally unacceptable and they should be called out for selling this defective garbage.
Are you offering this for sale on your website soon? Every owner is going to need one of these.
Yep it's on the website already, plus also in my pinside shop. pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1282-rocket-city-pinball/by-game/3193-jaws-pro

Stern should be paying you to fix their bone headed lack of engineering on the worst release of the decade. Good to see fine engineering is alive!
Worst release of the decade lol? I guess we all have opinions.

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this retarded comment…..

Great mod but terrible design by Stern.
