  • Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum celebrated their 50th anniversary with a special event on 28th July 2019. This is the 1st part of video taken on 28th July featuring all 8 of the trolleybuses in action on the circuit at the museum.

    No pollution, no smoke, no loud engine noise, plenty of capacity.... they had the clean environment answer since the 1800s with trams & trolley buses..... how stupid & wasteful to get rid of them.....

      I quite agree, modern trolleybuses can be seen in many parts of the world.

      We need them back in our city as for at least 3 different routes they run trams up the street so why not have hybrid trolleybuses piggy back off that power supply

    What is the source of their power? They connected to the nation's grid or are they part of their own privately owned grid?

      I would think the national Grid. Many years ago local councils used to have their own power stations to generate electricity for their trams and trolleybuses, the electricity business was nationalised in 1948, after that the power stations passed to the local electricity boards.
