To those who think dirt houses are for noobs. The reasons why it's a good idea to make a dirt house. 1: Natural camouflage. Under the correct circumstances it'll take mobs and sometimes players a very long time to figure out that your house is there, unless it's in a desert or on a tree (like an idiot). 2: You can use the floor and roof to farm inside, which is easily fixed by adding lighting. 3: It's easy to collect, far easier than wood, and is very plentiful. 4: It has the same properties as stone, being a gravity defying block. 5: It doesn't burn. The bad reasons why you shouldn't have a dirt house. 1: It looks bad as water can leak in through the roof when it's underwater or while it's raining. Even tho' there're 5 different types of dirt blocks (normal dirt blocks, grass blocks, dark grass blocks, extreme hills grass blocks, mycelium, and jungle grass blocks) it becomes irrelevant when you can just have carpet in your house, of any color. 2: It's easy for players to break in by destroying the dirt blocks. It becomes super easy once they have a stone shovel or better, as it's like the dirt blocks aren't even there. 3: Endermen can pick up dirt blocks but not wood plank blocks.
I once played with my brother and i built this: I found a natural cave and carved out a room at the end of it. The door was two pieces of dirt which means hidden but a bit obvious. In this room I kept a bed, a chest with some random items, crafting table, furnace and other standard stuff. I also covered the walls with paintings. 3 of the paintings were falls to bedrock, but one contained a ladder. It took you down to 2 paintings, one sent you down in to lava, the other to my actual bed, crafting table and furnace, but no chests. There was however one chest hidden under the block one block to the left (from the door) of the center block in the room. That chest contained a pickaxe and a pressure plate. If you put the pressure plate at the right spot in the room a secret door opened up which lead to a long corridor with a bunch of chests, my storage, but there was one more thing. At the far end of the room there was a lava wall, the only way to get past it was to put a lever a the right place in the room (and it was a long room) to turn of the dispensers. In the chest behind it was were i kept my diamonds. How is that for secure? The best part was when my brother started to giggle like a little girl proud of himself because he had found my "base" and emptied the chest i had there. He had no idea that my base was a lot bigger than that.

PinataFreaks I have to say, a pretty epic idea that, with some nice traps. My base I use for factions is quite nice. Since i'm not in a faction, and I'm all on my own, I came up with a dummy idea. A fake base, about 20 blocks above the ocean, which is little more than a cobblestone square with water pouring down it. But no one has ever realised that if you follow the block in which the water meets the ocean, down to the ocean floor, a little dirt block hides among the sand. Destroy it and a long ladder takes you down to 4 blocks above bedrock, which no caves nearby. I did however put a few traps in, like falling sand if you enter one of the fake doorways, and even a simple self destruct button and a minecart with chest that I can quickly store any valuables in to my escape room, which is a bed, a chest, a crafting table, a furnace and a small but productive carrot farm :D
SkilledButMagic In one of my houses on Xbox Minecraft i built a panic room. It was useless since it was Xbox and nobody else played on that world. But it was pretty sweet. It was hidden in the blocks behind my nether portal and opened by moving a switch i had on the wall to operate my trashcan to a part of the floor. Then the walls opened and behind was an obsidian room with a chest and a bed. The chest had tons of food, some obsidian to block up the door (since i couldn't make that out of obsidian or the pistons wouldn't have worked), a diamond sword for defense and diamond pickaxe to mine misplaced obsidian...
I never thought there were bases so hard to find with simple blocks like torches and stone. I think this is the best video of types of bases I've ever seen. Congratulations, great video!

GRAPHICS. with fancy on you can see through leaves! and, light shines through leaves. but, i suppose you wouldnt know that with your graphics on fast. just be sure its on a somewhat laggy server when most people will play on fast graphics. and P.S. it doesnt really count as "impossible to find" when they clearly know that the...trapcraft i think its called? mod is a plugin in the server.

I call this one the Noob base It is basically a house made out of dirt with a crafting table in it. if you dig 5 blocks then you will end up in the *REAL BASE*
You could always take the Cove base and submerge it underwater (I mean build it underwater). That was not only is it hidden but pretty difficult for intruders to get into. You just have to have some underwater breathing potions and depth strider enchantments.
Also, with the Hidden Rooms mod you can make a hill base. I did that on a modpack and it works amazingly! I always forget where it is though... Nobody suspects a thing when their redwood home disappears

when i play on multiplayer servers i have 2 locations, a secret base typicaly underground and with multiple exits and my above ground compound which is lit up and usually obvious from a mile away as i like to build big. 20 floor large size buildings, towers and my most recent minecraft construction was a platform 30-40 blocks above the ground thats something like 150x200 blocks (and 2 levels). Usually though my secret base is more than just a chest and a bed. It has my wheat, sugar cane, enchanting room, bulk storage, a tree farm, a cow farm and my mining operations.
Some of those are pretty cool, but for me the easiest and best is behind waterfalls. Find a flat sided mountain with a small waterfall and swim up, dig a small tunnel a few blocks below the water block, with an iron door or a zigzag to stop light showing at night. Easy to re find, mob proof, well hidden, and miners would need to destroy the whole mountain to come across it. Con is a slightly slow climb.

IMA share my personal fave homes: The 'well home'. Just find a well in the middle of no ware or build your own villeger well. You just dig into the earth (kind of far from surface) and make an awesome place! Perfect camo, no light (unless marked with anything giving off light), and easy escape (trap door hidden near your well)!
Number 11 Cliff Base: On a small cliff dig a small house avoiding to expose the interior blocks by making the house shaped as the cliff Pros +Extremely Un-noticeable +Underground Expansion +Safe from Mobs +Safe from other players + PvP +Chance of finding ores during expansion Cons - Again Extremely Un-noticeable (You will probably only find it again if you mark it or something, but in my case i used Xray mod [You cheater using xray!!!] First of all the server where i was playing has an anti-xray addon but it only hiddens the ores so my house is made of wood and xray can see wood in favor of finding mineshafts easily so i used xray for that reason only and to find more dungeons to sell/Keep for me) -Miners -Very small space if you dont expand to underground -Mining then placing the wood takes long as hell -You need to replace the dirt everytime you want to go out My words on it +I like to be underground it makes me feel secure and comfortable because im secure from the chaos that is outside +In my opinion the cons dont make it bad, in fact one of the cons is actually one of the pros because it being Un-noticeable is what makes it a bit bad because i really got a hard time finding it again because i needed to get to my home and i didnt want to waste time on searching it so i just looked at it through xray and got my goods, even though i dont like pvp i have some enchanted armor and a nice sword because, even if your a miner you cant get down there without proper protection and as i dont fucking care about the PvP i can say that im safe because even if they find it they cant break it and they cant kill me Now a real comment On the video itself Tell me which dedicated server of minecraft survival that dont restrict the use of pistons, dont come with servers like: Minecraft Survival Server Free use of redstone
I personally believe that some of the best bases are the hardest to make and the most time consuming. They only real way to make a truly "raid-proof" base is to lay down two layers of obsidian to make an obsidian box and surround said box with water. I say two blocks thick because it is possible to glitch in via enderpearls. But let's be honest, we all want a base that looks good. A big box doesn't look good. That's why in my base, I've got a neat little mountain base, with part of the base wrapping around the side of a mountain. The rest of the base is deeper in the mountain with "checkpoints" throughout the base, allowing only high ranking members into specifically protected parts of the base. Each check point is a small hallway full of dispensers that, when activated, will throw potions of poison, dmg, drop lava, and shoot arrows in case they have fire resist. While it isn't raidproof, it will take a LONG time for whoever plans to raid to actually accomplish the task due to the amount of iron doors and checkpoints I have included. Plus, I also have a gigantic room of full obby that stretches from the surface all the way to the top, with an elevator to speed up the travel up/down. I'm still not even close to finish the base. I plan on adding an extension to the base in the nether, with a vault at the very top of the nether encased in obby. The only way in would be to warp in via the home command. I've been playing facs for years now, only actually been raided once, when I was first starting out. I'm a pretty vicious player =P
I make mine out of bedrock on the last layer underground never has been found im the hide and seek king my friends will never find me i been hiding for a year now
The lever torches are good enough (pretty neat), but to say that it camouflages your base as well as a lava fall base is not true. The torch is a clear giveaway that something has been done with the place so if another player finds the spot he'll know for sure that there is something there. With the lava flow is might not be that clear.
I did this before. I made a painting room in my house underground and held the painting up with a sign. The whole room is covered in paintings, so people wouldn't look twice at the entrance, and it's not super obvious.

when i play on multiplayer servers i have 2 locations, a secret base typicaly underground and with multiple exits and my above ground compound which is lit up and usually obvious from a mile away as i like to build big. 20 floor large size buildings, towers and my most recent minecraft construction was a platform 30-40 blocks above the ground thats something like 150x200 blocks (and 2 levels).
Usually though my secret base is more than just a chest and a bed. It has my wheat, sugar cane, enchanting room, bulk storage, a tree farm, a cow farm and my mining operations.

Some of those are pretty cool, but for me the easiest and best is behind waterfalls. Find a flat sided mountain with a small waterfall and swim up, dig a small tunnel a few blocks below the water block, with an iron door or a zigzag to stop light showing at night. Easy to re find, mob proof, well hidden, and miners would need to destroy the whole mountain to come across it. Con is a slightly slow climb.

The 'well home'. Just find a well in the middle of no ware or build your own villeger well. You just dig into the earth (kind of far from surface) and make an awesome place!
Perfect camo, no light (unless marked with anything giving off light), and easy escape (trap door hidden near your well)!

- Again Extremely Un-noticeable (You will probably only find it again if you mark it or something, but in my case i used Xray mod [You cheater using xray!!!] First of all the server where i was playing has an anti-xray addon but it only hiddens the ores so my house is made of wood and xray can see wood in favor of finding mineshafts easily so i used xray for that reason only and to find more dungeons to sell/Keep for me)
-Miners
-Very small space if you dont expand to underground
-Mining then placing the wood takes long as hell
-You need to replace the dirt everytime you want to go out

+I like to be underground it makes me feel secure and comfortable because im secure from the chaos that is outside
+In my opinion the cons dont make it bad, in fact one of the cons is actually one of the pros because it being Un-noticeable is what makes it a bit bad because i really got a hard time finding it again because i needed to get to my home and i didnt want to waste time on searching it so i just looked at it through xray and got my goods, even though i dont like pvp i have some enchanted armor and a nice sword because, even if your a miner you cant get down there without proper protection and as i dont fucking care about the PvP i can say that im safe because even if they find it they cant break it and they cant kill me

I personally believe that some of the best bases are the hardest to make and the most time consuming. They only real way to make a truly "raid-proof" base is to lay down two layers of obsidian to make an obsidian box and surround said box with water. I say two blocks thick because it is possible to glitch in via enderpearls. But let's be honest, we all want a base that looks good. A big box doesn't look good. That's why in my base, I've got a neat little mountain base, with part of the base wrapping around the side of a mountain. The rest of the base is deeper in the mountain with "checkpoints" throughout the base, allowing only high ranking members into specifically protected parts of the base. Each check point is a small hallway full of dispensers that, when activated, will throw potions of poison, dmg, drop lava, and shoot arrows in case they have fire resist. While it isn't raidproof, it will take a LONG time for whoever plans to raid to actually accomplish the task due to the amount of iron doors and checkpoints I have included. Plus, I also have a gigantic room of full obby that stretches from the surface all the way to the top, with an elevator to speed up the travel up/down. I'm still not even close to finish the base. I plan on adding an extension to the base in the nether, with a vault at the very top of the nether encased in obby. The only way in would be to warp in via the home command. I've been playing facs for years now, only actually been raided once, when I was first starting out. I'm a pretty vicious player =P

The lever torches are good enough (pretty neat), but to say that it camouflages your base as well as a lava fall base is not true. The torch is a clear giveaway that something has been done with the place so if another player finds the spot he'll know for sure that there is something there. With the lava flow is might not be that clear.
I did this before. I made a painting room in my house underground and held the painting up with a sign. The whole room is covered in paintings, so people wouldn't look twice at the entrance, and it's not super obvious.
