missmayflower I’m looking forward to it. At weekends I have no alarms and it’s a bliss. Seriously thinking of retiring earlier. Life’s beautiful but it can go away in a blink so
Hi it's Annie I like those suggestions I like to show gratitude often and I try few positive affirmations, get bed and dishes done, floors swept rugs vacumed. Light a nice fragrance candles and incense around the house and garden.
I’m 74, retired for 10 years and never have set an alarm even when working. Seemed I always woke at the same time every day without an alarm. Wake now around 5, make bed, have coffee, catch on up emails, listen to a video or 2, then make a list of what I want to accomplish. Do a workout video 3-4 times a week and attend a Y class 2x week. I have a lot of energy and am totally enjoying my lifestyle. I’m a new subscriber and look forward to your informative and calming videos.
Coffee, Bible, prayer, make bed, and spend a few minutes in my planner checking for appointments, events, jotting down errands or shopping items. My planner helps me prioritize my days and helps me feel productive.
I am retired, so there is no need for an alarm. But, I usually wake up early, have a cup of coffe and read or watch videos (such as Sixty and Me). I then do some stretching while concentrating on my breathing before making my bed. I will add the affirmations, as well as write 3 things for which I'm grateful! Thank you, Margaret!
Showing gratitude is so important. I try (don't always succeed) to pray in the morning. It doesn't have to be denominational or formal but for me, it's thanking God for my health and for the blessings in my life. Oh, and always make your bed.
For me my morning rituals are getting up as soon as my alarm goes off. I agree this truly sets the tone for the day. Then I either have a shower or get dressed right away. To me this tells me I'm ready to get on with my day and do the tasks set before me. I took early retirement four years ago and for the first two years I was not following any routines at all and was getting depressed and seeing my youth slip away. It wasn't until I gave myself a huge talking to and then started following a lovely Scottish lady who happens to live in Denmark - Dianeindenmark. She is a Fly Lady mentor who shares ways of setting up cleaning routines for your home and she is so encouraging. I look forward to her cheery Scottish accent every morning. So now I have found you and this is great. I believe we are all here for each other and should encourage one another along our paths. 💕
You are such a lovely, upbeat and gently motivating woman. I subscribed a while ago and am catching up on all your wonderful videos! it's been a rough 10 years, lol, and especially the last 1.5 for me and for the world. I'll be 60 in about 6 months and I'm working on myself. Thank you for your chanel, calming and so helpful. Be well!!!! :)
I usually get up at 4am, and I either watch videos that interest me at the moment or I read for an hour. I always say my affirmation at different times during the day, whenever I am straying away from positive thoughts. After I have my cup of hot chocolate, I do an hour of hard work, either gardening or painting, or fixing something. Mainly I am trying to simplify my life, which is hard to do Margaret thank you fo all the great advice. You are a jewel!
I workout in the morning and believe me, I sleep well. Exercise not only invigorates me for the day, it helps me be tired at night and to sleep deeply.
Lots of great ideas. I’ve been making my bed in am for several months now and as a previous non bed maker it definitely does order the day and I would definitely recommend this morning habit. I have read that waking at 3-4am is very common and part of sleep cycle. Just say a few prayers and let yourself fall back to sleep. If this doesn’t work I just get up early and go to bed earlier. 😊
Interesting video. I always make my bed and meditate before I start my day. If I awaken in the middle of the night, I listen to nature ambient sounds and it calms my mind and sleep comes easier if I don’t fight it.
Yes, if i dont fight it. Same here. I just relax and say whenever you come sleep. Next morning dont feel guilty that you are not sleeping as you should. Do what you need to do and leave the rest to your spirit.
Hey Margaret, since being told I've high cholesterol ive been on a weight loss diet, and have indeed bought the cholesterol Down by cutting out bread, pastries, crisps, and processed meats, spreads and meals... And start everyday with a chia seed oats breakfast with dried apricots, dates and almond, cashew Or soya milk added, put all those ingredients in a bowl with some cinnamon on top, then cover and put in fridge overnight and really enjoy it in the morning after a big glass Of warm water with lemon juice, which starts the digestion too.... Have amazing day paula x
My suggestions: If you are retired and don't have a schedule, don't set an alarm at all. Just wake up whenever. I get up anywhere between 6:30 and 10:00. My most difficult times when I am at loose ends is between Noon and 5:00. In the evening I drop most of the stress. I think it's because once it's dinnertime, you can relax just like you used to do when you came home from work. Another suggestion I have if you are really restless and can't sleep and it's almost time or past time to change the sheets....I have been known to jump up and take a 5 minute hot bath, change my nightgown and change the sheets...and voila I go right to sleep. I think some people overlook how important a spotless bed and body can be. When I am emotionally stressed I meditate by lying flat on the carpet and put on summer thunderstorm, rain or gentle beach natural sounds from RUclips.
Chanced on this lovely video today 🧡thanks a lot Margaret. I wanted to share that even if one does wake up at 3 or 4 am, you can learn to enjoy that as a big signal from the Universe. In my experience, this really enriched my spiritual growth and practice 💕
Good morning from the US of a. As always great suggestions. First of all just be open to the joys of life. The pleasures of seeing, hearing and sensing the world’s beauty and all the magic of the day. We are so fortunate. Thank you again.
I would add turn off electronic devises one hour before bedtime including kindle. I started a morning ritual a couple years ago that included prayer with all the things I’m thankful and handing over things I can’t control. I enjoy a nice cup of coffee and take in the beautiful scenery in my backyard. Once I began to acknowledge and embrace the blessings in my life, I looked forward to the start of my day. Oh, I do make my bed every day and never use an alarm clock (unless I have an early morning flight).
Goid Morning Margaret. Great video...i make my bed everyday and kerp a gratitude journal and do affirmations. I think these are great ideas. My morning meditation is a scripture or Bible reading. Pink is your color, Have a beautiful day. ☺
Jus the thing I needed today. Adding in regular excercises or walk and/or yoga for a short while regularly does great for a great day. Taking care of a pet / garden in the morning is also a great way to start besides all what you said. Thank you dear
I do most of these things. I'm grateful, I pray, I make my bed every day. I do hit that snooze button more often then not, will try to be up and at em daily!! Thanks Margaret!!
I make my bed everyday and I try to meditate when I discipline myself to do so. I’m taking medication classes. I’ve taken two so far and have four more to go. Last week’s subject was loving yourself which reminded me of one of your videos. I feel better when I meditate in the morning. The worry journal sounds interesting. I often take my worries to bed with me which makes for a fitful night’s sleep. Sometimes they come out of nowhere.
In the warmer weather, I love to kayak early in the morning and commune with nature. I'm lucky to live in an area which allows for marsh, river, and Long Island Sound views. I also love walking my dogs and watching them enjoy their outside environment.
I wake up at 4 every morning, I am excited to start the day. I make my bed start to brew my cinnamon coffee, I burn scented wax usually Pumpkin. I wash my face put on my makeup brush my shoulder length hair. My home fills with a wonderful aroma. I never set an alarm. I walk my little dog by the water and meditate for about 10 minutes. I love being alive I love your channel, love you in pink! I REALLY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
I have a terrible habit of turning my alarm off and going back to sleep. This morning, I got out of bed, took my dog for a walk came home and had coffee. I do like to make my bed. Just makes me feel better. I have been thinking more about writing. I enjoy your videos. I hope that you are well. Take care.
Hello😊I am from Ceylon which is called Sri Lanka now. Tea is definitely one of my favorite comforting hot drinks I enjoy. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom. You are a precious person🌺
My morning rituals are checking my IPad and see who has what to share. This weekend I made beautiful Sugar cookies in fall colors and posted my baking creativity on my Faceball wall. Then do the bathroom ritual, make lunch and get ready to start my job at school. I am having anxiety issues on credit debt with not the right income to pay the debt, so I have been with creditors to lower the monthly payment. I thank God for another day, thank my Reiki angel for being my coach of surviving these senior years. My affirmations for today are 11/4/19 are: I’m going to smile more, I’m going to the gym and trying to go a few minutes more to keep that circulation moving. I can’t make my bed, I sleep in a recliner but I fold my blankets. I love u Margaret. Thanks for caring and sharing.
I usually have a hard time falling asleep Sometimes up until 2 or 3 AM Other nights I have no trouble falling asleep About meditation will focus on my breathing and most of the time I will fall asleep!! Thank you for this video Margaret, I make my bed every morning have coffee will watch you and catch the news
Thank you for this. Thanks for the recap too. I also think exercising (even if just walking) at some point during the day helps me sleep. The more vigorous or lengthy the exercise, the better I sleep.
Thank you Margaret. I feel so much better being able to watch your videos and just knowing that there is a whole community out there with the same feelings and concerns.
I nourish my MIND, BODY and SPIRIT. Trying to simplify my life. Making time for breathing techniques. I so look forward to my morning routine and meditation is a big part of it. Nice of you to help others, Margaret. Thank you dear lady.
Drinking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water, it helps with my acid reflux. Having my one daily cup of good coffee, often flavored with my own mix of (seasonal) spices. Feeding, petting, and playing with my kitty, a life-affirming connection to another living being. Planning the highlights of my day, but also reminding myself it's OK not to do all of them. These are the four constant things I do in the first hour in addition to the usual wake-up hygiene routine. There are others I do every day, as well, but as I work them in. I'm not as schedule driven as I was when working full time. Thank goodness that's over! Heck, some days I don't even put on makeup, granted it's usually the rainy days when I know I won't be leaving the house or having anyone stop by. :)
Love it! I make my 🛏️ bed the moment I get up and get dressed for the day. I never stay in my PJ’s but for a rare occasion, so far once this year, at which my husband asked me if I was feeling alright. Recently I started putting on some lipstick 💄 and I felt uplifted in spirit. It’s the little things, right.? Grateful today for your YT video! Thank you, 🫶🏽. You have an incredible day!
Thanks for this topic. As a night person who also deals with chronic pain (arthritis) mornings are usually my most difficult part of the day. Your suggestions are all very helpful. Might I add another one? I like to read inspirational literature as one of the first things I do in the morning. By inspirational I mean wisdom literature of various faiths (scripture), wise words from good people such as the Dali Lama and the emperor Marcus Aurelius, or anything that has a positive and uplifting message. It sets the right tone for the rest of the day.☺️
All good advice! I loathe getting up with the alarm, & thankfully it doesn't happen often, but when I do I do not press snooze...that is just miserable! I have meditated for many years now. actually long before I even knew what I was doing...lol! I just knew it made a big difference in the way I felt! I do like to make my bed, but like to "air it out" for awhile, so sometimes I don't get back to it.
Excellent helpful video. I've always over -stressed about small problems. In a dream a few months ago I heard the words, "Let go" over and over. Now I repeat the words, "Let go" and take a deep breath, thinking to myself; how important is this matter really? It calms me. P.S. My made bed each morning makes me feel like my life is under control! Lol ! Thank you, Margaret. Blessings to you....
I would love to hear more about us older women on how they start their morning. I have gotten where I don’t want to do anything and next thing I know the day is gone and I haven’t accomplished a thing. I know by reading and hearing other women talk about their day would help me and maybe some others.
Hi Margaret! I do these things and perhaps it is because of that but I'm sleeping really well nowadays!! I didn't know the relation between them, but now I know. Thank you for that. Oh, I'll tell you the Journal I'm doing, and perhaps somebody wants to do it. It is "The five-minute journal" and it's very helpful for me! You have it at Amazon if you want (Excuse me because my English!!)
I'm going to try out the anxiety list Margaret, I do all the the others, I agree with one of the comments below don't set an alarm if you don't need to, one of the greatest pleasures after retirement is waking up naturally...I do work weekends and the alarm really disrupts my quality of sleep I kept worrying will I get enough hours in, during the week no anxiety at all. Thank you Margaret always a pleasure 🌸
Really enjoyed this video. Great idea...the affirmations.... Also liked how you announced the sponsorship of the video. Thanks and have a great day from Canton, MI, USA!
Hi Margaret thank you for such a lovely video It has such a kind vibe. I am grateful for your words reminding us take care of ourselves. Hug from me to you 💕
Pretty in pink sweet Margaret !! Great ideas for morning life :) I write 10 things I am grateful for every morning (even things I don't have yet but feel I do in my mind) and send love to three people who have done me wrong. My problem is awakening and immediately tuning into MSN, MSNBC and the Guardian to see what is going on in the political world. Then onto Facebook for 30 min to check on everyone (an hour goes by and then I am annoyed with myself) and this must STOP. Since my kids are gone and I am not obligated to an employer, I do not set my alarm. I plan to resume making lists every day of what must be accomplished and the time I will allow for each task. I will add this to my morning routine and also tune in to an uplifting audio for 30 min.
Wish a retired single woman over 60 would make a video showing her usual morning, mid-day, & evening routines. I've seen several of these done by younger married women. Jesus Calling is a wonderful book. Found Nic Sagala on YT reading each day's passage followed by brief comments. Warm soothing voice with his toddlers sometimes in the background. I find it very grounding. Another book I enjoy is Daily Om by Madisyn Taylor.
I don't own an alarm clock. My sleeping is erratic - I'm a Night Owl by nature and most alert and creative at night. Often nap in early evening. I wake up at different times - later in fall/winter because Sunrise is so late. As for the other ideas, they have been around a long time - meditate/pray, keep a gratitude journal. But it IS important to be grateful for the fact that you're still alive. Especially as we get older! I mean, eventually we will wake up dead some morning. It can happen! As for making the bed - I NEVER make the bed. I fold back the blankets or hang them over a rack (bettrr still, outdoors) to air. I let the bed and pillows air out. Easy enough to throw freshened duvet and blankets on bed when you want to sleep! PS I have always been a Haphazard Housekeeper and Gardener. Now that I am 'retired' - though from what, is hard to say - I am starting a blog with this title.
My ritual is to do the wrong thing - hit the snooze button, a couple times even! I get dressed in super comfy clothes. Lots of times I’m not hungry, so I go in my computer. Nice and stress free, and quiet.
I just discovered your channel and I L O V E I T!!! Thank you. I’m 68, 2 years into retirement, and divorced-single. I will really enjoy going through your previous vlogs, I’m sure. ❤️
Thank you Margaret. I’ve been following most of these suggestions for a number of years. They do contribute to more peaceful days.Haven’t found it to improve my sleep
Hi Mme Margaret.U have a Very special place in my heart. Love the Morning Routine.yes Gratefulness is my Motto too. The Words I Am is the most powerful..beautiful day
Love love love the pink on you! VERY complimenting to your hair and complexion. I get up several times a night to potty but go right back to sleep. I drink a cuppa hot tea in bed at night and believe that is why I get up but I just can't GET to sleep without my cuppa. I used to make my bed every morning but now just toss the covers over the pillows. I do like the idea of airing it out in the morning so will start doing that so there is no guilt for not making my bed hehe.
Unfortunately I get woken up at 6.30 every morning by my husband, my bedroom backs on to the bathroom and I hear him every morning in there shaving as he goes out at 7.30 every day for his newspaper and morning walk. If I go and stay with my daughter I normally wake up about 7.30 naturally. I don't make my bed straight away as I like to pull the covers back to air but make it about 10. Most nights I go to sleep within 30 minutes unless I have a problem I am trying to solve then it will go round and round in my head so I will get up make a milky drink and play on my iPad until I feel sleepy, sometimes it's an hour sometimes several hours. I do find deep breathing helps me to fall asleep.
Only time I make my bed is when I change my sheets. I do hay problems sleeping but part of that is the 20+ years I worked all night long, slept days. After retiring it is still often difficult sleeping at night. But, I may try some of your ideas. I set an alarm but almost always am awake before it goes off. I enjoy sitting on my deck, coffee in hand and listen/watch the birds in my backyard.
I am a sleeper. Go to bed around 9:30PM and am up and about at 6AM. My morning is coffee...news...confirm the plan for the day and spending an hour with my husband. (I always...always...always make my bed.)
Read an article in a health magazine that said it is better not to make you bed. Dust mites multiply as you are keeping the heat and moisture in the bed. Throw your sheets back and let them dry out and air out. Dust mites will not multiply in the dryness as much. I never make my bed. I air it out during the day.
Admiral McRaven had a wonderful commencement address that began with "Make your bed." It sets the tone for the whole day and gives you something you've accomplished and can look forward to even when the day has been challenging. It's on RUclips!
Sleep...wouldn't that be nice? Daylight is when I go to sleep.I'm 67 and have no idea if that is unusual but have heard it's not. My dad is 92 and needing special care and I am having a very rough time finding him help we can afford. He is too sick to be home and has to have special nursing care. So this keeps me biting nails and worrying. If you know any helpful tips please answer.I asked you a while back about single cruising, haven't heard anything back, wish I would. Thanks!
My morning routine is about the same every day. I awake naturally with no alarm clock now that I'm retired. I take some deeps breaths and get out of bed to stretch. I go to the bathroom and wash my face. I swish/swipe the bath to tidy it. I put in a load of laundry. My husband and I having matching recliners and we read our devotionals each morning while drinking our cups of coffee. Afterwards, we have breakfast, do the dishes and plan our day. It's important to get dressed to shoes and do my hair and light makeup next. Then, I'm ready for the day! We are going to add a morning walk to this routine! We need our exercise and it's beautiful in the morning here in Georgia.
Thank you for the interesting topics. However although making my bed is a morning routine since my childhood in order to sleep better I’m going to add meditation to it!!!!
One of my favourite parts of retirement is getting rid of the alarm. It’s wonderful to wake up naturally when your body is ready.
missmayflower I’m looking forward to it.
Every day is Saturday. :)
Since 2015 when I retired I decided to go to bed when I get sleepy and wake up when I wake. Alarm is for appointments that I have no control over.
I can’t imagine using an alarm clock. How horrible.
I’m 74, retired for 10 years and never have set an alarm even when working. Seemed I always woke at the same time every day without an alarm. I was just thinking of Fly Lady today! It has been years of watching her and will resume - !!
Kathy Puzic Does Margaret not comment on any of her comments? I notice she hasn’t commented on any of the nice comments on this video. Just wondering
I love the Fly Lady! She does make me feel better and gives me so many useful ideas!
Kathy Puzic Do you know the name or channel for this Scottish lady?
D Diane in Denmark ;)

Making my bed prevents me from staying in bed or going back to bed ...it kind of makes me feel organized too. 😊

Every morning I read one page of Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. Just to touch base with my reality helps so much.
Me too for years...give it as presents...it helps ground me..
I read her too. Talking to Jesus every morning keeps me grounded all day. Give your worries to him.. ❤️
As always, everyday the Lord has made, rejoice! & be glad in it👍.
Amen 🙏 Alot to be thankful for

I love “…press the I’m here button” in your recap.

beautiful life!
Since i started meditation most of the things maggie suggests are falling into place. Adding fasting and breathing exercises to it are really helpful.
Thank you Margaret, That's what I do everyday make my bed, Since I was a young girl. VERY NICE VIDEO!
I have a terrible habit of turning my alarm off and going back to sleep. This morning, I got out of bed, took my dog for a walk came home and had coffee. I do like to make my bed.
So true!
Thank you Margaret. I feel so much better being able to watch your videos and just knowing that there is a whole community out there with the same feelings and concerns.
You are so welcome
Sleep is an issue I deal with. I go to sleep but do not stay asleep.I will use some of these tips. Thank you. I have just found you and your group.
I I think your such a sweet person and very positive thank you for all your good ideas and tips.
I need to improve my morning ritual...thank you for this advice...it sounds wise, reasonable, and doable
It sets the right tone for the rest of the day.☺️
Great videos
Super glad and grateful to have found you. You are wonderful, don't stop what you do
I'm going to try out the anxiety list Margaret, I do all the the others, I agree with one of the comments below don't set an alarm if you don't need to, one of the greatest pleasures after retirement is waking up naturally...I do work weekends and the alarm really disrupts my quality of sleep I kept worrying will I get enough hours in, during the week no anxiety at all.
Main stream media....☹
Hi Nan, thanks for your kind words! If you would like to learn more about Sixty and Me channels you can go to www.sixtyandme.com/start
Thank you Margaret. I’ve been following most of these suggestions for a number of years. They do contribute to more peaceful days.Haven’t found it to improve my sleep
You are so welcome
Hi Mme Margaret.U have a Very special place in my heart. Love the Morning Routine.yes Gratefulness is my Motto too. The Words I Am is the most powerful..beautiful day
You are so lovely and you give me such hope for the years ahead (I will be 64 this year)!
Make your bed every day if for no other reason than it gives you a decent place to lay your head and sleep if you had a crummy day.
I am a poor sleeper I constantly think of the jobs I have to do and wear myself out I am thinking of subscribing to Calm to see if that will help.
great video..you look beautiful in pink. tis .ur color..!!! Hello from The States..Tennessee..
Good Morning from Tennessee USA. I always watch your video then go to bed at 3:15 a.m. Thank you for your videos.
me too, it's 3:02 am here. And I'm also a 4am/5am to sleep person, but I usually 8 hours, and that's a poblem
Me too! We night owls should congregate in one place! 😉
Me too !
~ Glad to know i am not alone being 'nocturnal'!
PTL Margaret…thank you for sharing; I am going to focus on breathing meditation 💯💌!
What a neat idea ...tea is always good.
These are great suggestions. I’m 60 and have to be at work for 7:30 AM. Not sure how I can accomplish all this without getting up much earlier.
LOL.....I am two plus years late but it is challenging making your bed if someone is still asleep in it!
I have to get up, my dogs need to go out. But I do get coffee and sit a bit after they are fed.
Hi Margaret , just wanted to tell you I got my cards today, and I love the bracelet. Thank you very much. Love Dee
Thank you so much Dee - glad you are happy!
Great. So correct in many ways. Thankyou
Good morning, you look wonderful today!
Willing to try all of theses suggestions thank you
Loved these ideas, Margaret. Thank you!
Read an article in a health magazine that said it is better not to make you bed. Dust mites multiply as you are keeping the heat and moisture in the bed. Throw your sheets back and let them dry out and air out. Dust mites will not multiply in the dryness as much. I never make my bed. I air it out during the day.
Sounds very reasonable and do-able. I do some of these, but will try all 6! Thanks!
Admiral McRaven had a wonderful commencement address that began with "Make your bed." It sets the tone for the whole day and gives you something you've accomplished and can look forward to even when the day has been challenging. It's on RUclips!
Your voice is calming and very professional💕
Thank you for the great reminders, Margaret! I so enjoy your videos.
thank you for creating helpful videos.
Glad you like them!
Just discovered you. So happy that I have. Yahoo!!!!
If I don't make The bed,I feel bad all day!
Another lovely chat, thank you.

Thank you Sharon - glad it helped!
A new fan fr.philippines.
Thanks!
Yes pink loves you Margaret! What shade is that lipstick? Love it!!
Lovely, thank you. And for repeating them at the end. And you look beautiful 😊xx
Thanks Maureen!
Thank you for the interesting topics. However although making my bed is a morning routine since my childhood in order to sleep better I’m going to add meditation to it!!!!
Yes! Pink IS your color!
Love ya Margaret thank you and good morning from Central Ohio
