Norwegian lyrics, translated line by line into english: Kanskje vil der gå både Vinter og Vår Maybe it will take both winter and spring; Og naeste Sommer med, op det hele År And also next summer, and the whole year too; Men engang vil du komme, det ved jeg visst. But one time you will come, I know for sure; Her skal jeg nok vente, for det lovte jeg sidst Here shall I wait, 'cause I promised you 'ere. Gud styrke dig, hvor du i Verden går God give strength to thee, you who walk in the world; Gud glaede dig, hvis du for hans fodskammel står God pleasure thee, whom his footstool stands; Her skal jeg vente till du komme igjen Here I shall wait for you 'till your next coming; Og vente du hisst oppe, vi traeffes der, min Ven! And wait up here, 'till we meet again, my friend!

Hi dear operahouse! I'm singwr and operacomposet, granddaughter of Joan Sutherland and Maria Callas, Mozart and Beethoven, can you protectme against Netrebko & Kisdin, please! I wanna be on stage, and they're stealing tge lastknickers from my body,Gariffulinais usingmy voice. Julia Grigorian ❤
A little bit weightier than some of the other versions out there - not so light and more to my liking. And with such fluidity! There is simply no strain at all. She just glides up and down effortlessly.
I never understood why this song didn't work in the halls, or concerts. She didn't sing it THAT much live. :( Still this is a very good recording!!! (Ps also the album, love it.)
As famous as she is, I think Marita Solberg and Sissel both sing this much better. But no matter who sings it, the song is such a great song that virtually any rendition of it is enjoyable!
Anna Netrebko also is better, plus she has taken the time to learn the Norwegian lyrics! Another top tier one is Barbara Hendricks and Oslo Philharmonic with Esa-Pekka Salonen, also in Norwegian.
@@purisermonisamator Lol, nah, I'm not overly optimistic. Being the son of a piano tuner and great singer, I saw how knowledge if how things ought to be, quality-wise can take away the simple pleasure of the meaning of words and the beauty of fine music in the heart and mind. My dad was always pointing out when a singer or instrument was out of tune, all while I was enjoying the music, even if overlaying a better rendition from my memory over what my ear was hearing! That's a skill in and of itself that I'm glad I was able to develop.
@@Sutherland2 Toscanini didn’t say she had a horrible diction, he said she had a “ugly big voice” but when she sung Lady Macbeth he cried: “here is Lady Macbeth “!
The best performance of Solveig's song ever!
Have you heard either the acoustic or electric version of Galli-Curci's? If not, have a listen on YT.
Joan Sutherland is my favorite singer and I love the way she sings it. Lucia Popp also sings it beautifully
Toma ahi queda eso¡¡
The song is ethereal , Dame Joan is ethereal ; the perfect combination.Thank you.
This song deserves a thousand likes, thank you so much for upload it.
Beyond beautiful singing and piece!
Beautiful
Amazing legato....she does not take the breath that most take a few bars before the high note. So lovely.
a trick : watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Gael Lucas yup, I've been using Flixzone} for months myself :)
Will you be there, waiting by the gates of dawn, when I close my eyes forever

Nothing beats Sissel, I find Sutherland a bit heavy in her singing and not in this song either. But I guess its all to do with kind of voice you like.
es bello su canto y raya en perfeccion

You are clearly overly optimistic, believing that no vocal number can be performed badly. Thanks to some experience, I am convinced of the opposite.

Beautiful song and voice. But would prefer singing in Norwegian.
Sovrannaturale
What language is this?
You know, don't you, that Toscanini wouldn't hire Callas because he thought she had horrible diction?
English
Sutherlandish. There was only ever one native speaker.

es perfecta en todo
Why is Sutherland's diction so poor, in her native language yet?
