You've got a great voice.....damn.....this is the forth video I've watched of yours....now I can't stop watching.....incredable voice....my hat is off to you !
@@russwilloughby501 Hey, Russ! What happened to your Long Cool Woman video, it was one of my favorites. (Sorry, I couldn't figure out another way to ask you this.) Nice job on Diamond Girl though!!
Hey, Russ. I searched my history and found the video, but it's blocked. Here's what I see in the black video screen: "Video unavailable This video contains content from SME, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." I'm in the USA... I'm wondering if maybe you're the only one who can see it now.
I consider myself a diamond girl Afficianado. Truly. 😊 S & C was my first musical love at age 13. And Diamond Girl was, and is, a fabulous song. This was darn good. Thanks.
This is an excellent and fitting tribute cover with the passing of Jim Seals. RIP. Your awesome cover of Summer Breeze back in Aug 2020 begged another Seals and Croft cover. Great respect!
"Like" what I heard? Heck, I LOVED what I heard. There's a smoldering intensity behind the laid-back beat of Diamond Girl, and you really captured it. Your "album notes" on the musicians' backgrounds explains it all. I could never figure out why such an easy flowing jazz piece felt like bridled beast... now I know why. Great work as usual! Thanks.
You are amazing!! Would love to hear you do a cover of an England Dan and John Ford Coley song (like, Love is the Answer or Soldier in the Rain) Please?
Another excellent cover. When I listen to music I have habit of listening for individual instruments and seeing if I can pick them out. It is so much fun to watch you play and be able to see as well as hear the instuments!
Awesome job my friend!!! Love this song.. you as usual knocked it out of the park!! So clearly remember when this was a hit!!! Thanks again for bringing back these memories!!!
"Wait a minute, that's not Seals & Crofts .. or is it?" I mean, the harmonies on "Diamond Girl, sure do shine" are fabulous Russ. Top to bottom, another gem.
love this song and you nailed it well done!! Gave me Goosebumps actually! Quite impressed with the Alesis drum kit too, was looking at getting one but read mixed reviews on them....
I've been checking every day now for a new cover from you and here it is! Superbly done, as always. I just love reading the history you include, listening to the songs and watching you play all the parts. Thank you for all the work you put in this.
Other than the vocals, everything is recorded direct....guitars, bass, drums, keys. No mics or amps. That gives me the cleanest signal, it's consistent, it's good for separation, and it makes it easier to mix. As for mastering, I use just a little soft attack, that's all.
Seeing a message that it’s blocked by SME. Odd, in that’s it well beyond the time that it became public. I guess it sounds like the original and their bots are picking up?
If you have not done them before, you should do "Brandy You're a Fine Girl" "Dancing in the Moonlight" and "Still the One". all fitting what you're are doing.
Hi Russ, I've always wondered what the heck they play in the intro. After seeing yours I figured it couldn't be too difficult. So I watched some of their video clips and Seals plays a Dm shape on the 8th fret and a D shape on the 7th fret. Along with the mandolin, it could work like this: ruclips.net/video/FaIR-vk6LWs/видео.html
There's actually another guitar in there...I just didn't video me doing it. It's the Dm shape on the 8th fret and a D shape on the 7th fret. It's also pretty far back in the mix. I let the piano take the bulk of the main riff. Thanks for the info and video!
Brings me back to my 1st concert ever - and the young lady who brought me. She and I had an additional first :-)
That's a pretty good memory to drum up....thanks so much for listening!
Brings me back to being 17 years young 😂❤
Loved that you picked a Seals & Crofts piece. Nice job Russ!
Thanks, pal....I appreciate it!
Always amazing! Nice tribute to Jim Seals..

Just found you on you tube --- Well done ---

Can you give tips on mixing and mastering your tracks, they always come out so damn good!

Nice triute to Jim Seals. Well done. (Edit: Correction - The album was produced by "Louie" Shelton.)
Yeah, I knew it was Louie....my mind must have been at the punch bowl. Thanks for the eagle eye.

@@russwilloughby501 - Glad you’re OK Russ! Can’t wait to hear some originals!
Take your band and come soon to Brazil.
That would be a good trick! Thanks!
Seals and craft : Diamond Girl" The hardest part is the duo and the intro doing it alone with harmonic..
Thanks so much for listening!
Geez, you do all! So when’s the dancing videos coming 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

If you have not done them before, you should do "Brandy You're a Fine Girl" "Dancing in the Moonlight" and "Still the One". all fitting what you're are doing.
Thanks...those are all great suggestions!
Wow, just found your channel, amazing stuff both in the performances and the production. Are you or were you in bands?
Thanks so much...glad you found me! Yes, I've been in bands practically all my life. Currently I'm in two bands in the Cincinnati area.
Great job Russ! (might I suggest you mix the drums a bit hotter?)
Thanks, Fred! I actually had the drums up in the mix a bit, but then back them down. I think the issue is the piano is a bit too hot.
Hi Russ, I've always wondered what the heck they play in the intro. After seeing yours I figured it couldn't be too difficult. So I watched some of their video clips and Seals plays a Dm shape on the 8th fret and a D shape on the 7th fret. Fun Fact: Russ made that blue guitar out of a dozen empty tubes of toothpaste and a handful of piano wires.
...and duct tape.
@@russwilloughby501 of course, duct tape. You still using Elmers glue on those builds or are they just rubber bands and tension?
@@russwilloughby501 😂
Not an easy song to attempt.
Good effort though.
Thanks!
Nice job!
