I worked at Foster Freeze for 7 years, and I made so much banna split then I can remember. We dress it up with all kinds of different flavors. Thanks for the vids, it really brings back old times
My Dad always had to have his banana splits whether at home or at the local Dairy Queen, and my Mom & us 3 girls enjoyed ice cream as well. I learned to eat a whole banana split at a very young age. lol Dad lived to be 90, so they must've been good for him. The hubby and I carry on the tradition with our kids. 💙🍧🍨 They love ice cream too. Thanks for the neat instructions, Matt. It's time for us to have a Family "ice cream social." 😊
That is such a nice memory. My dad loves ice cream too. Such a fun family activity making them. We usually made them at home, since it was much cheaper than taking all of us kids out to get one. We did make numerous trips to Trifty back when those stores were around, for some Thrify brand ice cream. Love that stuff. I can still get it at the Water & Ice stores near me.
Hi I tried your recepie and it was superb. One variation I did was for the choclate sauce, I melted a cadbury bar and some milk in a microwave bowl, and made some homemade sauce. It went well
Worked at an ice cream parlor. Old fashioned banana split is vanilla, strawberry in the middle ,and chocolate at the end. Chocolate topping on vanilla, strawberry topping on strawberry, and marshmallow topping on chocolate. Then almonds whipped cream and cherries. If using caramel pecans will probably be better. Make your banana split however you want to eat it though. It's all yours.
Definitely depends on the ice cream parlor. :) That is awesome that you worked at one though. I have been eating them for nearly 40 years now, from all kinds of different parlors, restaurants, etc. In the true spirit of banana split it is just a Sundae with bananas "split" down the middle. And yes the classic has the three most popular flavors of ice cream (scoop of each, vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate). I also have the traditional one written in the history section on my website version of this.
Hi Stacy! I got them from Amazon. If you look in the description box and scroll down a bit I included the link there. :) Here is the link too: amzn.to/2OdwXZd
Great job Matt, I love banana splits and watching you make that has given me the courage to make some for my family. Also I too love the Kroger brands, thanks
Hi Matt ☺️ Great video! I live in France and "banana split" is something everyone has heard about at least once, I'd say, but I have personally never tasted one! At least not that I remember. Your is really delicious looking! I'll definitely try doing it! But it's not so easy to find these chocolate and strawberry syrups here... Take care! ☀️
Thank you, Lulu! :) :) You could probably just melt a little bit of chocolate and use that. You can certainly leave the strawberry syrup off, or make a strawberry sauce and use that. Plus if you make one you can put it on other things like waffles, crepes, etc. ruclips.net/video/-G4kry-1Hq0/видео.html But like I mention in the video there are so many ways to make one, you don't have to only use the toppings I use. :) :)
Hot fudge chocolate is the best and you can add strawberry and pineapple toppings to each scoop of ice cream. Pure vanilla is the best for an original banana split. Greetings from SoCal U.S.
I personally think the way best to make it is using all vanilla. Hot fudge on one scoop, pineapple on another and strawberry on another. It's similar to the classic version but that was made with chocolate, strawberry and vanilla ice cream.
Hi! Is it okay to substitute the vanilla for another flavor of ice cream? I don’t have any other ice cream flavors on hand aside from chocolate and mango. Also, is it ok to just use a bowl that’s big enough? lol! Thank you!
My banana split features 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, one topped with fresh strawberries, the other crushed pineapple, last topped with chocolate syrup. Whip cream on Top, pecans and a Maraschino cherry
Awesome. But if you make once awhile and are alone, it's cheaper to eat at the ice cream palor, because only Bana is cheap. But that's excellent tutoring and will help when I have visitors. And cause I super love sweet things, these days I don't dare to keep more than what is necessary at home. If I bring all these, then I will be having my own Ice cream Parlor at home, where the menu daily will be Banana Split.
Yes if you live alone and just want to try one, probably cheaper just to get one at the ice cream parlor, however, once you buy the ingredients you can make them for several people which makes the cost go way way down and much cheaper then buying everyone it at the parlor.
Hey Matt how you doing well 😊😀 😉👋 like your video 😁😊😀 😁 😊 may you please do a video on how to make funnel fries or chicken nuggets and do you have any merchandise because I am a huge fan of your work man
