The best way of becoming a manager in this capacity is advancing from within your existing team. You will not know everything, so the position will require your investing many hours studying different products and services related to helping your team members do their jobs. You're a gate keeper!
The simplest way would be, try to take an internal movement in some none-voce process specifically in some MIS role if you have some knowledge in excel and then start learning the tools like SQL, SAS etc. if you can make some investment then I would suggest to go for SAS certification program because that's something which opens the door very easily and you get hired in some good company with good package in hand that's how you will manage to land in some data consulting firm and then you can invest another one year to learn the data science and take another movement into that role. let me know if you require any further suggestion
