Cape Town's SWAT team capture armed suspects

- In Cape Town, we have been investing heavily into our municipal safety teams. Over the recent years, we have added computer-aided GPS despatching to all our enforcement units.
we have added dash cameras to our vehicles, body cameras to our officers, drones in the air.
But we still need to add more. So we have now brought in the Eye-In-The-Sky. A piloted aeroplane that circles above our city, with a high-powered camera rig that we can streams visuals directly into our control rooms.
All this technology, we decided to "test" our teams. So we set up a simulation.
An armed robbery has just taken place at a shopping centre, the caller provided a description getaway vehicle. We sent out an APB until one of our Highway Patrol vehicles spotted the vehicle. Then we let things play out...
That looks suspiciously like a drill
It says simulation in the description...
still misleading
Very much like a tactic simulation.
I would like to know are they going to be as good at that in a daily occurance....i mean crime is insanely rampant in Cape Town
@@user-jb7bp5do6cmisleading if you don’t understand the word simulation🤡
It is a simulation
Love how the camera knew where the suspects would be captured and got there before the suspects.
Did you read the description, explaining it all? Likely not.
We set the simulation up, to test our members using all their technologies.
All a joke, no k-9 initial entry, no one left inside to after arrest. What if 5 other perps were in place. A failed training exercise. No removal of mask after so called arrest
True it wont work in real time i promise you. Jp smith koop net kak met ons geld to protect his corporations 😂
@@getalifestopspyinghacker3285 lol keep crying little blackie you will keep living in lunga your whole life
@@JP4Safety The title is misleading; I thought this is a real life action. I realised in the middle of the video that it's a simulation.
Thank you JP and the rest of our guys working hard to make CT safe! ❤
Ive met JP Smith and his parents, without really knowing who the man is at all. We did some construction work at his home. From my experience, He is extremely humble, honest and polite. Very very down to earth and considerate.
He's a pos wannabe yt God complex idiot.
(Views expressed are own) I assume this is a dry run to show us (South Africa) what the City of Cape Town has rolled out. Instead of being negative we should celebrate these wins. I was a victim of a home invasion last month. This technology is an absolute game changer and can save lives in the city, townships, cape flats and suburbs. We need people to be open to change. Lets unite for a better and safer South Africa. Congratulations JP and Team!
Se poes. Only works for white people
simulation versus reality is a rude awakening 🐱👤🐱👤
people really do not understand when someone says " I will die for you" thank you JP and your team for putting your lives on the line for your citizens.
Sometimes I think us South Africans love to live in a world where politicians can portray the lies protecting us in videos like these, instead of actually putting out proper resources to do so.
This is not that and again failed the obvious. Seems like there are people whom are so heavily bubbled up to see reality staring in their face.
This is not an insult to your interlect, but sometimes you need to grasp common sense..... Especially in the state our country is in
😂😅
For context this is where they train the Swat Teams if you are a regular observer of this channel. I like how they train their people though from time to time you actually get to see them develop each time you see them. Keep up the good work.
Great to see the tech reaching US standards, your teams are really doing a great job. If you could get your guys some simunitions or airsoft you could have the final training by fire exercises. A proud moment!
Are you familiar with US standards?
Fantastic eye in the sky working!!!!
"SWAT" team? JP, do you know what swat stands for? These officers have side arms, when in reality they should be equipped with heavy calibre semi auto rifles and shields. One cannot enter a building or walk around a corner with a bulletproof or ballistic shield in place to protect the leader and his team. In some instances criminals have access to automatic weapons and your officers will be hopelessly outgunned. A step in the right direction, but a swat team its not. Hopefully with more training and better life saving equipment they'll get there.
You can see this was very quickly thrown together, very unorganised, I doubt the team even had time to plan the execution of the simulation. Definitely not SWAT as you say. I've heard that Metro is starting a SWAT Team with former SAPS taakies but that's definitely not the team in this video.
Amen
Yes but this appears to be a training exercise if it was the real thing say a cash in transit robbery I'm sure they would go in with fully automatic weapons
Excellent. Always glad to see Metro advancing. The facility used here is the ruins of the old abattoir in Ndabeni, which Metro has been using for bits and pieces of training for years. There were plans to build a new Metro police college here, but I think that will never happen.
It won't happen, because of the decay in the walls, they will have to flatten most of the building which will defeat the point. That's why they are making Muizenberg college the flagship college for future intakes.
@@ginger0208 if I’m not mistaken, the plan was always to knock it down and build a new college on the site. There were other reasons why it was stopped. The muizenberg site can’t match the size of Ndabeni, and not nearly as central.
Simulation exercise.
Excellent!
We need a lot more officers for the amount of crime that is growing in Cape Town. This week alone I heard of 4 incidents of armed men robbing drivers at the Bochards Quary, Nyanga robot and other places where there is congestion. Almost every day there is a smash and grab on Jakes Gerwel drive by Bonteheuwel. Thanks JP and all officers (police and traffic) for the work you do. Let's hope the DA wins for you to stay where you are.
So all metros in South Africa now have a Tactical Response Unit! Great initiative👏🏼
TRT is operational in every province..no? Which province doesn't have a tactical response team?
There is a big difference between SAPS and municipal police. Municipalities are only dosed to look after bylaws and traffic enforcement. Municipalities don't receive funding from national government, only SAPS does.
But instead of waiting for change, we decided to lead it.
the camera man knew their hideout before the police 🙌
Tactical Camera men.....
@@ashleystroebel1018 lol yea right
No way should SWAT have a pistol ...gosh these criminals are running around with R - Fives
Looks like a short movie 🍿🎥
LOL thats Law Enforcements training center in Ndabeni, Cape Town.
Training mock video
Excellent and showing why western cape is best in sa
How does this show that? SAPS does the same thing daily, and actually runs operations, not just exercises...
@ginger0208 then you would also know that municipalities are not supposed to be doing this. SAPS has the Constitutional mandate. But if we allow the crime rate to continue climbing, year after year, still waiting for change, otherwise we can go out and make the change. Like when the 700 firearms we have taken off the streets in the last 3 years...
@@JP4Safety Since when is Crime Prevention not a Metro Police mandate? SAPS Act 1 allows for metro to perform CPU, which is exactly what this is. TRU was formed within the mandate of Metro as well, which are the guys in this video, not "SWAT". You are intentionally misleading the public. I'm not saying that you aren't doing good work, but let the Work speak for itself instead of making these "propaganda" clips about SWAT teams that don't exist within the framework of Metro. TRU already exists and does great work everyday, why overshadow their success with a fake SWAT demo?
Agreed WC is the best province in S.A
How embarrassing for SA
Hhhmmm. How was there a camera there when the suspects were running around that corner. This is an excercise
It says in the description that it’s a simulation.
@@tangomike15 but most people will watch the video without going through the description first. The title is misleading
A spectacular performance 👏 🙌. Blessings and Safely of the dedicated officers.
Other than the music great video😅
1990 Sega Arcade music
Jp smith is taking us for a poes 😊
God please protect JP Smith and the officers on duty🙌🙏
That music goes hard.
Well done to Alderman JP Smith and Commissioner JP Robberts for their efforts in implementing the "Eye in the Sky" crime prevention initiative in the Western Cape Metropolitan area.
This unique opportunity aims to curb rising crime rates. While new initiatives face challenges and criticism, it is commendable that the City of Cape Town (CCT) is investing millions of Rands, demonstrating their commitment to improving public safety.
It is hoped that if successful, this project will yield positive results in the long run and serve as a model for other municipalities. The CCT's proactive approach sets them apart as the only city currently investing in such a venture to address crime in the region.
druban needs this cause Phoenix Polices are something else beyond usless, they actually help the criminals and and never help CPF out
please bring this unit
If this was a real operation, it would have been irresponsible to show footage of the guard giving them info when the e tered the building area. He would have been a target for the criminals for his involvement in their capture.
good luck with the new venture ,its obviously gonna have teething problems, but not something to be given up on!
So hoe gaan julle die Eye in the sky vinnig genoeg ontplooi? Die Pilot moet seker als sy checks doen voor hy mag opstyg en dan is daar seker alreeds 20 minute verby.
True. Quicker to deploy a drone with the same capability. Takes too long to get a plane in the sky unless it is in the air all day, which is not really posdible or feasible.
Glad certain parts of South Africas police are atleast trying to make it safer
JP, you need to get these guys proper training if you're going to use them as your new elite special weapons and tactics team. I cringed watching this as a SWAT team. Why don't you approach the taakmag or 4 recce guys for assistance. Also, the SWAT team members need to be selected from the best of the best. Good luck with the new venture.
The actual SWAT team metro are creating are being headed by taakies, and will have taakies in it, this is actually the TRU (Tactical Response Unit) which deals more with POP which is why it looks so unprofessional. I'm not sure why they didn't just wait for the actual SWAT team before making the video because this is honestly pretty cringey.
@@rsa_elite_units4012 thanks for clearing this up brother. Let's hope these POP guys are never put in this scenario "real world" want hulle gaan hulle gatte sien.
@@markbooysen9412 it's all the PR stunts making it look worse than it is, TRU is actually pretty decent at what they do and kick in doors everyday, but this whole scenario lacked planning and preparation that they would normally have an the team used for the video isn't one of the more experienced teams utilised in TRU. Most of them look fairly fresh out of college, I recognise one or 2 from the pass-out parade of December 2023.
Edit, most of those taakies I spoke of for the new SWAT Unit are going back to SAPS thanks to the danger pay raise and instant promotion to W/O, so now I'm not sure what will happen with this unit, I guess time will tell.
5:16 why is that officer groping that suspect like that? 👀 (especially in a simulation)
Nice training video and marketing tips
Cops should always be 1up with criminals, its good to see the way cape town is gearing up with different type of resources. I am from cape town and live in dubai 6yrs now JP you should come here and see how the police operates.
Awesome Video
@JP4Safety Still waiting for someone to tell me how to become a law enforcement reservist
Why do they all have pistols? No Semi or ShotGs
4:44
Good advert
The mafia king Cele is no more now they forget that there's a new Commander in charge.
well done guys to form a TRU
looks like a setup!
That looks like a mock exercise. There is to many cameras at angles.
Shame on you if this turns out to be misleading video..
This music is unlistenable!
Love you all
NO Special Weapons And Tactics used.
I played hide and seek like this as a kid, 60 years ago 😅
Goed gedoen trots op julle blessings oor julle
Good work! But why the misleading title?
The drone operator has a lot more to learn how to position the drone and not to let building or other stuff get in the way. You can never loose sight of the subject/s.
What is that building for really hate those unused buildings
What happens to the firearms after the court case?
A very funny looking swat team but we get the ‘drill’
Isn't this the music from Pac Man?
TRU is called SWAT now?
SWAT (Special Weapons & Tactic) team but the SW is silent 😂
Why not call them reaction unit or something because there’s nothing special about their sidearms?
Why lie to the public and say armed suspects arrested when this was clearly staged as a drill.
You really ought to use the word "drill" in the title. Otherwise it seems you are trying to pass something off for something it isn't. Nobody reads the "more" part.
I wonder if they can quote chapter and verse of the legislation under which they operate and "execute" their duties. NOT bye laws, but LEGISLATION and with some insight into Decided Case Law. THEN we can see how well they are trained.
All for the cameras, thats been filmed on council property
How can I join the tactical response team please? I live in Capetown
Eyes in the sky tells them which building but the security officer at the gate direct them where the car went?????
The guts to post this🤦🏾♂️
Is it real or a drill?
NAhhh it s a drill
May G-d help the hostages and strength to the poor families of these poorly trained policeman and so called "swat team" in this video... if they ever had to face a real situation there would be dead people everywhere!... how embarrassing.... Poorly executed and a shamefull display of minimal skills for a real life situation....
THIS LOOKS LIKE A TRAINING OR TESTING UR EYE SKY
Nice movie 😅
Plane or drone?
Cameras in the old building? 😒😒
So the city dont own rifles or what? You cant even call this a reaction squadron
If thatbis our swat team, im extremely worried.
What happens when there are 3 cars all going in different directions 😂😂?
He said ✋️ but no one listened to him.
The illusions they give us and the masses fall it. 😂
This is a cct building. Title is very misleading
For illustration purposes.
What a joke, this is all staged with cameras all over this place 😂😂😂
Good luck to those officers who have to combat crime in South Africa with handguns.
Seriously?
The blade runner was more comvincing than this shower of sheet.
This is a drill. Cause the place they when in is law enforcement site/yard. They use this facility to store an train
This looks more like a drill
Budget waisted and people still depend on soup kitchens, make it make sense????
The sound/music on top not good
Mooiman!
The South African Police do not Have Swat Team. They have the Task Force. These uniforms is metro Police. Where is the so called Swat Team comes in. Asking for a friend.
Definitely not our police special force. .metro police they are
Atleast let the people know it's a drill otherwise it's just click bait?
Just before the election...I smell a rat
❤❤❤❤
Its a training
Promo video with a terrible sound track
Abbr of swat ...special weapons and tactics...seal..sea..air and land..our police special forces are trained to the likes of seals USA
Definitely a simulation
Yes, that’s why it says in the description that it’s a simulation.
I knew it..... it was acting..
Whats up with the stupid music
Training video
Dit is maar swak maar dis darem n begin. Met baie opleiding kan dit hopelik verbeter!
Fake , this is definitely a drill which they have there all the time. Famous location for shooting films. The police always training there.
