      It was their laziness, corporate and Provincial why the industry became landlocked, they were fine selling every thing to the Americans.
      Now that public opinion has soured on carbon fuels and the Americans cut their imports they want to build pipelines.
      Why not 20 years ago, there were international markets back then, they could have shipped via BC 20 years ago, they can ship via Hudson Bay 8 months easy 4 with some help.

    I believe electrification and heading towards renewable energies is inevitable and ultimately where the world is headed in the next century because as much as oil and gas is essential to us now, it is still a finite resource. However, HOW we transition depends on us. We could either do it the smart way or the dumb way. The smart way is to keep investments in oil and gas while slowly gradually putting in money for research for better/cleaner technologies. We had been doing that prior to Trudope. This allows our economy to survive, people to live comfortably without high energy costs/inflation. Canada thus produces oil/gas in one of the cleanest ways in the world. However, this doesn't sit well with climate leftists and doesn't help the elite get votes. Therefore, they opted to do the dumb way, which is to completely kill off the oil and gas industry outright in a short span of time and going full dictatorship mode to force ppl to adopt electric by taxing ppl to death to keep using oil while offering no viable alternatives for the average ppl i.e. EV's are still very expensive and the electric grid and charging infrastructures aren't ready yet. I honestly don't know if making ppl suffer like this is planned or not, but I'm inclined to believe nobody is this stupid for this to be a mere mistake

      @@Jon-gm2sn That is a good point. I don't know the answer to that but my concern would be, in the same vein as antiprog asked, do you think the rate of old wells filling up again would be enough to satiate global demand? In other words, it took millions of years to accumulate the amount of fossil fuels we have burned in just a couple of hundred. Assuming this refilling is happening due to the same process as how the original fossil fuels came to be, do you think this alone will actually have any practical effect?

    • @timshort9692
      @timshort9692 2 года назад +2

      While I agree with some of your remarks, there are certainly some of them that I do not. First thing, please omit divisive labelling (e.g. 'climate leftists', 'elite', etc.). It should be obvious that we are all in the same fight of our lives together to keep the planet within livable conditions for ourselves, our children and future generations. Never forget that, please.
      Next thing, and this is the one that angers me the most. Yes, we will need time to 'transition', and the transition would have been much easier or more gradual than the options we have left ourselves with today. The fossil industry denied, deflected, delayed and lied for at least two decades about their role in climate change, and only recently have finally publicly acknowledged the problem that the burning of fossils is the main contributor to the rate of change in our climate. And now, in 2022, their narrative, which the government has also adopted due to extensive lobbying by the industry, we will embark on one of the longest 'transitional periods', that being 'net zero by 2050'.
      Wow! Had we kicked into gear in 2000, 2010 or even 2015 to lower our emissions, we would be in far better shape than we are today.
      I can tell you that I am in constant discussions with the Federal Government and non-profit agencies pleading that we must immediately stop providing further incentives to the fossil industry. Full Stop. If the industry wishes to figure out carbon capture and utilization, hydrogen technologies, no problem. Go knock yourselves out. But let them pay for it themselves!!!! Why should public tax payers provide $'s to these pilot projects and hence de-risk them? To heck with that.
      Adapt or die!!!

    How would you like to invest in something that returns the same money, or less, in 5 years? Investors won't put capital into projects that do not generate revenue, this is why the government needs to put its money where it's mouth is. Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
    So you must be careful to do everything they tell you.
    But do not do what they do,
    for they do not practice what they preach.
    They tie up heavy cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders,
    but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
    Everything they do is done for people to see:
    They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;
    they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
    they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
    But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. The greatest among you will be your servant.
    For those who exalt themselves will be humbled,
    and those who humble themselves will be exalted".
    YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FOR YOURSELF AN IMAGE in the form of anything, in Heaven above or in the Earth beneath, or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them, or worship them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents, up to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me, and keep my commandments.
    If my people who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, I will hear from Heaven, will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.
    AND WHEN YOU PRAY DO NOT BE LIKE THE HYPOCRITES, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners, to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
    BUT WHEN YOU PRAY, GO INTO YOUR ROOM, close the door, and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
    And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need, before you ask him.
    This, then, is how you should pray:
    Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us today our daily bread.
    And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
    And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from the evil one.
    For if you forgive other people when they sin against you,
    your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
    But if you do not forgive others their sins,
    your Father will not forgive your sins.

    These are the teachings,
    The Righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ our God.
    REPENT, and start doing what is right.
    If you abide my teachings, you are really my disciples;
    then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
    Yet a time is coming and has now come
    when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in Truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
    GOD IS SPIRIT, so his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in Truth.
    In the New Heaven and the New Earth,
    only Righteousness dwells.
    May the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ our God be with you all.

    This is the failure of Alberta governments. Fossil fuels will steadily decline over the next 10-20 years, yet Alberta continues to invest in it. No attempt or foresight to invest in alternative solutions.

      There are no alternative solutions and fossil fuel consumption is growing, not declining.

    I remember when Alberta's economy was much more diversified then it is now. We have become hopelessly abdicated to oil and gas like druggies to hard drugs. Alberta needs to diversify again

      @PatchesRips where's all the money coming from to build all of this? Canada is 1.1 trillion in debt. Inflation is crushing families and interest rates are rising.
      You don't seem to understand that this country is beyond broke...

      "Diversification" makes no sense, economically. In economics, there's something called "comparative advantage". In order to maximize economic gains you have to focus on the sector that you have the comparative advantage at, instead of being a jack of all trades you have to be a master of one. All of the most competitive economies in the world (such as Germany and San Francisco) are hyper focused on one sector of the economy. This is why the myth of diversification needs to be tossed out.
