    I absolutely love my Koi! They are truly like puppies. They swim right up to me when ever I approach their habitat. They let me pet them and love to eat out of my hands.

    Great video Wayne. I'm totally in love with your fish. In my country everyone loves kois almost everyone I know keep kois, but from what I've seen everyone keeps them in water tanks cut in half. The breeders have ponds, but apart from that I don't see anyone really who privately owns a pond. I hope by spreading this video around I can help change that. Thank you so much for your time and effort. Keep doing what you're doing. You're making a difference.

    I love my Koi. I have a small pond that will not support them for much longer. I am planning on building a new one, which will me much bigger. I can't bring myself to get rid of any of them, but will need to soon. So what you are saying about them being rewarding and having their own personalities is very true. I am going to spend a couple grand to accommodate mine, because I do appreciate them. They make my life better by being there, so we do what we must to make them happy. Great video. I am glad that there are others that feel the same way I do toward them. Just watching them makes the voices in my head stop :-)

But after this tutorial vid I’m going to make every effort to get a much larger environment for these guys. Thx for your insight.

      If you get the super expensive ones that get really big then yeah
      But if you get those lower grade koi( still beautiful and awesome fish to have) then you can put a good number in your pond

    my brother raises koi until they're 12+ inches and then releases them into his lake. is it better to raise them in a tank outside or inside if you plan on them eventually getting released?

    • @danisfishing9013
      @danisfishing9013 4 года назад

      Outside as they will already be similar to the temperature and they will have more space and naturally will be used to being outside.

    this comment section LOL. Guys... You can have 8-10 koi MAX in a 2000 gallon, it's not 1000 gal per koi like how some people are saying here, That's ridiculous LMFAO. It's a lot of factors, but account for how great your filter is and the design of your pond. and it's all up to you guys on how much work ure willing to clean your pond too. More fish=more waste= more maintenance. Less koi= less maintenance. Just don't overstock as well and yall should be good..... hope this clarifies for some people cuz Ive been in that position literally about a year ago....

    So I'm building a homemade pond in my yard. What I plan on doing is digging a 3-4 foot hole and Connecting the creek that we have to it and lettin the creek be the air system. Is that a good idea or no

    • @reubenwilliams4132
      @reubenwilliams4132 7 лет назад +1

      Corey Robinson if the creek is prone to flooding then no, the fish could escape into the creek (if Unser going to keep fish). But if u keep it sectioned off well and it doesn't flood often then that would be a very good idea, the water quality would stay very consistent and there would be no need for a filter

    I couldn't keep goldfish because it gets too hot here in Florida, I have a 300 gallon pond and I wanted about 10 goldfish in there but they dropped like flies and wouldn't grow while my koi and cherry barbs thrived, I kinda don't have a choice because it's too hot for goldfish, I will probably just go with 3-4 koi but I live in small quarters and can't get much bigger. Lots of people cram their koi in smaller spaces and manage to keep them healthy. I am bummed that I can't keep goldfish here.
