I saw a picture of him 12 years old down in New Orleans playing duet with Eubie Blake. You CANNOT get more authentic than that.

I would be immensely appreciative!!!...It was my very first introduction to Harry Connick Junior's magical musicianship!

At least you weren't hip to be square like I was. Jokes aside, it was "Blue Light, Red Light" that popped my Harry Cherry. I've been a huge fan ever since!

Yep. I Remember this episode. I was a little girl glued to the tv. I've been in love with his talent ever since.

Harry Connick had recently come from N.O. to play a NYC gig with Little Queenie, the N.O. singer. Soon thereafter he started to play solo piano on Sunday nights at the Knickerbocker on University Place across from Bradleys. He moved to the Algonquin on West 44th St. and his career took off. This appearance was the real rocket launch.

I love listening to young Harry when his New Orleans accent was still strong. He’s lost it over the years, sadly.

Please...please tell me you have a copy of the December 17th, 1993 appearance of Harry Connick Jr. on Letterman?! (Episode 75)...He sang "When My Heart Finds Christmas"...and I literally RUSHED out to buy the CD....a staple, a classic in our home for the holidays ever since. My little daughter 'hid' the paper liner notes /photo to gaze at in her room at the tender age of ONE and a half. True Story.

You can see the George Shearing influence in Harry's playing....No question George tight Harry well.

I would say for Gen X like me there were two men artistically that completely dominated.
It was Kurt Cobain and Harry Connick.
Kurt's gone. I miss him and Harry is too Hollywood now.
O well. That m'fr could play strong and is very handsome.
