    Beautiful cat and booked me into the Tin Palace on the basis of my playing. And I enjoyed talking to him when we ran into each other on the street.

    so why do I disagree so much with the things he says in Ken Burns' Jazz? I need to read Stanley to see what I'm missing.

      he was pretty extraordinary with his commentary on jazz. you should check out his essays as well. a very unlikeable guy by many , but his writings are pretty transformative. in my opinion
