    That high note at the end was originally planned for Eli, but Cesar told him he could do it. So, Eli told him to try it and he did so well that Eli let his version rule. Great comradery.

    Believe it or not, Cesar was actually on the highest part on the final high "dream on", a G#5 for a Baritenor is so impressive! Plus i love Geoff's line in that verse. Going as low as an F1 with subharmonics to as high as a C4 (then C3 and then C2, 2 Octaves and 4 Tones)

      Came here to say this! Cesar on that high note and Eli singing the lower harmony with his gritty rock tenor aaaahhrhhrrrjjj I almost fell off my chair first time I heard it! Head to toe chills

    I saw another reaction video today that Cesar was a part of, and it was actually Cesar that did the high note there. Was determined he did a G5.

    From someone who was in high school (eeeeek) when this first came out, I've got to say this cover is nothing short of amazing! I love how they slowed it down a bit and gave it a more nostalgic feeling. Pretty cool for Eli since this was his old high school. Me too since I have a reunion coming up. I was waiting for that high Tyler scream from Eli and got a bonus there. Did not expect it to be in harmony. I loved the echo effect at the very end. And those runs! Geoff's lows complementing the tenors, Layne with some cool sounds, the perfect guest in Omar, Eli and his rock voice, and Cesar just keeps impressing me more and more. He even got to rock the mohawk this time. Omar has done a lot with them recently including a bunch of shorts so I'm hoping he'll join them as the fifth member. These guys just keep them coming!! Fun facts: there is an old "blood stained" dentist chair in the basement left over from a horror movie shoot and Cesar and Omar were singing I've Had the Time of My Life, complete with the lift, during breaks.

  • @lkayh
    @lkayh 2 года назад +26

    Surprisingly, though, I think it was Omar and CESAR doing the really high notes. Based on what they’re doing physically in the video, it looks like Eli is doing slightly lower harmony.
    So what do you think of the chances they’ll ever perform this one live? If they do they’re going to need to change the arrangement in a few places because it relies so heavily on effects and editing in post.
    I love the way Geoff takes some of the slides DOWN instead of up as in the original. As you say, so many surprises. And his slides in this are SO clean. Layne’s new beatbox riff (whatever the heck it was) is something else, too, and the high harmonies are killer.
    Great reaction, Chris! Hope all is well with you!

    • @ericbogie8111

      Someone correct me if I'm wrong? But in the classic high note from that song I think it's Omar, Caesar and then Eli. If it is that is a total flip I never saw coming and I would really like to know who came up with it if it is that way.

    • @lkayh
      @lkayh 2 года назад +4

      @@ericbogie8111 I don’t think anybody has established Cesar’s range yet, but yeah, I think it looks/sounds like he’s up there with Omar in that section. Eli can also hit notes that high but maybe they needed his power in the mid range. He has a really strong voice. Also, I think those high notes are close to the edge of his range (at least that’s been recorded). If he even had a sniffle that could affect his ability to get up there (at least it always does with me-if my allergies are going I can take at least half an octave off my range on both ends-MIGHT hit the notes but it will not sound good.)

    I'm still waiting for this version to grow on me. I was really wanting Eli to rock it hard, but they softened it instead. I appreciate a good bass drop, but, in my opinion, it doesn't belong in some places. Again, only my opinion. That being said, there were some really impressive parts as well.

      It took several plays for me to appreciate it for what it is. I too was waiting for Eli metal scream on this one. But it's getting there. Still great for the most part just not what I expected from them.

      I agree with the bass parts sometimes it wasn't needed. The three tenors killed it. Especially Eli. His "dream on" low part is FREAKING eargasmic sometimes going high is not too necessary but I understand that for this song is the greatest highlight. I adore Eli very much.
