It is amazing that this quality of education is available for free here. You’ve really opened the floodgates for folks to understand what they’re hearing when they listen to Bill Evans. Thank you!
I will never forget the first time i listened to Dolphin Dance version of Bill Evans, it was litterally like if he didn't play on a piano, but on something else, something no one will never ever play on ! The touch, the feel, the lightness, the first 10 secondes were like : "Hey i'm Bill Evans, one of the greatest who has and will ever play"
This is the best tutorial on Bill Evans I've seen here. There are so many where the person sort of shows off how much they know making it difficult to follow. Here, your explanation and demonstration are very clear. Thank you.
It’s so great that you’re inspiring and teaching whole new generation of Jazz musicians. You can tell your love of Jazz by the expressions of your face and eyes when you are playing passages you love. Thank you Jimindorothy!
You are a national treasure and ought to be protected by law. Can't thank you enough for your amazing videos. Perfect combination of aesthetics and pedagogy.
Wow, such an incredibly helpful video Jimin! Evans is one the main influences of my love for jazz piano and you capture his sound so wonderfully. I've never seen anyone explain his use of the bVI7 -> V7 -> bII7 -> Imaj substitute progression, I can't wait to take that around all 12 keys!
perhaps V is "nostalgic" because, being unstable & wanting resolution, it embodies that sense of longing for something other than what currently is, which must be close to the heart of feeling nostalgia. very good clear concise video.
such an amazing video. simple and bite sized! not focusing too much on the details but more bills overall roadmap on the keys. thank you so much for this great video
Thank you. This is wonderful. I love how you describe these techniques and then show applications, and you always sound so great when you play the examples!
Awesome, thanks for sharing your insight into Bill Evans’ music! Like many other viewers, he is my favorite pianist. Beautiful playing in your examples
Gamsahbhida. Your explanations were very helpful. Just memorizing the 5 chord inversions over those altered dominants versus trying to remember the sharp nine flat 9 and 13 is a lot simpler.
THANK! YOU! I just have to say I enjoyed this. It is like, i opened up my toolbox and you threw a buch of new tools inside and I just used them. Sometimes magic just needs to be explained and everything falls into place. Great video! Great teaching. You just gave my playing a new set of sounds! (7800th like from me by the way ;) )

Same for me!😂
Personally I think all music is about that, obviously to varying degrees.
@@bigdog38au it's true of movies/theatre and novels as well. But let's say that classicals are like romcoms, while jazz are more like thrillers
Bill evans is the greatest jazz pianist ever in my opinion. The way he uses harmony is unparalleled. Incredible playing!

Can you guys give advices about records from your favorites pianists.
