I’m a Killie fan and many years ago was a referee at a junior and amateur level I think that’s the worst performance from a referee in nearly 50 years of watching my team.
Agree Ed. I’m a Celtic man but watched the game as neutral. It was absolutely baffling. Not just the big decision with the red card, but the referees performance as a whole. It’s genuinely the worst I’ve seen
I'm a Motherwell fan and that ref was a joke.. i even think you's should have had a penalty when Halliday took down your player Lyons in the box. Our refs are a joke and with VAR there's no excuses
One of the worst decisions I have ever seen too. The Killie player must have done something in the original challenge to upset the Mothewell man and when he came to challenge him (limping a bit) the Killie guy Armstrong brushed him off, then the Motherwell guy briefly got his shirt but nowhere near his neck. The Killie guy then complains by signing (and maybe verbally) to the referee that he was grabbed by the neck. Total invention. The ref gives a red card, then called by VAR presumably to alert him to his error then UNBELIEVABLY sticks to the red card decision. Amazing mistake. The Hampden one was a close call (and down to the VAR team) but this was a stubborn referee who obviously either saw something none of us saw or took the word of No11 Mr Armstrong that he'd been grabbed by the throat. Motherwell should appeal and this should be accepted without question and quickly too. Willie Collum a busy man this week.
Willie Sean Collum. Who was fast tracked through the system of Referees in Scotland. At the old Scottish Junior Football level awarded a penalty kick in a game at Cambuslang Rangers ( the opposite end from the dressing rooms) while he was half way down the pitch. Oh, and assistant referees were allocated on the day incidentally. The home Manager and his Club President were allowed afterwards to ask for an explanation... That's another story...
I watched the game. The ref was a clown, stopping play, ignoring the advantage etc. Stop start nonsense. A very debatable red card, i would have thought both getting yellow would have been a better choice. Are we goni end up with Non contact football? Its bad enough players diving aboot with the slightest touch. Getting ridiculous really.
Yep. There was an incident where the Motherwell keeper comes out to claim a ball and punches it away. The ref immediately blows for a foul. I didn’t even need the replay to see there wasn’t even contact on him, never mind a foul. That was one of at least 20 wrong calls in the game. It was bizarre to watch
Refs in Scotland are terrible. No wonder fifa & UEFA have stopped using them in their major international tournaments. What training to do they and who delivers it? Willie collum? I remember him giving a penalty to rangers against celtic when he had is back turned to the action and never seen the player diving
It’s only when the decision doesn’t suit the narrative, you hear these endless complaints. Everyone thought VAR was the saviour, sadly we now know it’s simply down to individual bias, sectarianism and personal preference. All referees in Scotland should be made to declare their favourite team, this should include their families too.
If that’s amongst the worst three decisions he has ever seen, then what has he been watching his whole life? If you slap someone on the face, you get a red. If you push your hand into someone’s throat, that’s worse, surely? The ref had a poor game. The red card was something he got right and he had the courage to stand by the right decision. Now Stuart should have some questions to answer.

I honestly think it’s time to put the SFA on notice and the clubs should sue them for incompetency. This is getting out of hand and ruining our game.
