They are known as Pine Martins in the UK and luckily they seem to find the invasive Grey Squirrels easier to catch than the native Red Squirrels, so everybody is hoping they come back to their original range (well everybody except the Greys)

The fisher (Pekania pennanti) and the European pine marten (Martes martes) are two different species that are distantly related. The fisher is native to northern North America, mostly in Canada, although it ranges down into the northern border states of the U.S. The pine marten is found in most of Europe, Asia Minor, the Caucasus and parts of Iran, Iraq and Syria. It does inhabit Scotland, and there are small, isolated populations in Wales and Ireland. The fisher is a much bigger animal at 36-45 inches and length and up to 12-13 lbs, compared to the marten, which can grow to 21 inches and about 3.5 lbs. Although they are both mustelids, members of the weasel family, the fisher is the only member of the genus Pekania.

    It's fisher, not fischer.
