I neglected my jujube without water for the entire year and the branches all dried and dead and I knew it was dead for sure. However, in the beginning of this year I started giving it water and amazingly, it is alive. It is the most viable plant out there that I know of. Every garden should have one of this plant.
My neighbour cut one to the ground and still took the time to try to remove as much of tree as possible. No water for a year. Still manage to resprout.
Wow cool Johnny Love the nursery tours as I wouldn’t get to see them there any other way So many jujubes 👍👍 mine is looking sad atm just lost its last leaves for the winter lol
This was a great tour we just found out we can have jujube I’m not sure what kind to get yet probably the most cold hardy one we can find definitely enjoyed this tour 🤙🏻
For years i dreamt of getting Sugarcane but it was super expensive. Earlier this month i stumbled across a seller selling air layered Sugarcane + free shipping voucher (the seller is across the sea). She is in pot now. It'll be awhile before i get the fruit but i don't mind. Honey jar? Oh my, need to start seaching...
I read online that jujubes are self-pollinating, meaning they will produce some fruit without another tree nearby, but they perform better with cross-pollination from another jujube. I read somewhere else that jujubes are partially self-pollinating. Thus, I believe even if you have one jujube you may get some fruit but to get a lot of fruit, it is recommended you have more than one jujubes for cross-pollination. Also, I don't really prune my jujubes as I do other fruit trees. Thank you for your questions and thank you for watching!
Have you got a Sherwood? I recently bought one as it's supposed to be one of the best tasting varieties. Some RUclipsrs have said it doesn't fruit as much. Now I'm worried 😣
I read somewhere that "Sugarcane is a cross-pollinating species although selfing occurs at low levels." So it definitely does much better if you have another jujube close by. You can cross pollinate with another jujube variety. Thank you for your questions and thank you for watching!
Hi Anna: if you are in S. Cal. check out Mimosa Nursery in East Los Angeles and Rosemead and Garden View Nursery in Irwindale, CA. Good luck with your search and thank you for watching!
The picture at 0:40 is not the real GA-866. GA-866 has an ellipsoid shape, where the two ends are smaller than the middle part. I have a four-year-old GA-866 and it's the best variety that I have tasted: GA-866, Li, Lang, Shanxi, Honey jar, Sugar cane. See ruclips.net/video/Xb9LBF2GtZs/видео.html
@@johnnysworld-backyardorchard thank you so much for your reply. I just got a li jujube. I’m still very confused about fruiting time. Some websites say January to March, others late summer to early fall. When I lived in California, jujubes were everywhere. I am in Atlanta area now and don’t see them at all. Should I expect them to fruit in atlanta?
@@ForTheWin2007yes. Got a few fruits last year (first year in the ground). Have a bunch of fruit this year (second year in the ground). It was a bare root tree, 4 feet tall, Li variety. Got the tree online from Isons nursery.
You can find it more readily these days but they were rare to find not too long ago. I am happy to see more nurseries carry them now. Thanks for your comment and thank you for watching!
Why certain varieties does not have seeds. I have Thai jujube. It is large as the Li jujube and harvest, you don't have to wait to turn red or brown. You can eat them green sweet and foamy texture. I've grown them from seeds. It is 25 ft tall, not too much thorn. I pickle them while green, last several months in the refrigerator. The more water, the more bigger than the Li jujube.
Thank you for sharing about the Thai Jujube. I actually have a Thai Jambu but not a Thai Jujube. I really need to look for a Thai Jujube tree, since based on your comment, it sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching!
What I like about jujube is how easy they are to grow. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely agree with you there, much easier than avocado trees. Thank you for watching!

That's really cool that it survived and doing well! Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching!
Probably dead maybe just the rootstock is growing

Very invasive roots damage my concrete driveway. Costt me $2600 to remove and repair concrete.
dosen't matter sweeteners the more sweet the more likely will be attacked by wasps and birds .I want to know the aroma
Wow cool Johnny

I prefer the Sugar Cane over the G886. However, the fruit is a little smaller.
Actually the last Sugar Cane I had was much sweeter than the G886. Thank you for sharing your comment and thank you for watching!
Have you got a Sherwood? I recently bought one as it's supposed to be one of the best tasting varieties. Some RUclipsrs have said it doesn't fruit as much. Now I'm worried 😣
No, I don't have a Sherwood, I have to look into that variety. Hopefully yours will fruit well. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!
Is the sugar cane jujube self fertile? Do I need mother variety for it to make fruit?
I read somewhere that "Sugarcane is a cross-pollinating species although selfing occurs at low levels." So it definitely does much better if you have another jujube close by. You can cross pollinate with another jujube variety. Thank you for your questions and thank you for watching!
I looked for this li jujube trees thanks

Can somebody confirm I can get fruit by planting just one tree? Excellent video by the way❤
I don't see why you wouldn't get fruit with one Jujube Tree. Thank you for your question and thank you for watching!
