Ahh... for the length of this song I'm once again 19 and have a life ahead of me full of unknown. Music like this kept me grounded through the years. Thank you DJDC for another of your great extended mixes!

THEIR sound is unmistakable. They were the sound of a whole generation. Masters of music. They helped usher in the Disco erra to a whole new level . Brilliant arrangements and songs in an Era that was theirs.
Este tema me hace recordar mucho mi infancia rodeada de mis tíos as y padres abuelos paternos Bee Gees siempre es grato oírlos 😊 Ese LP del 76 era uno de los Favoritos de casa !!

I was this many years old when I learned that Melba's was not the original version! I never knew about this one (and I grew up in the 70s). Not really surprised though. Wasn't really up on Bee Gees music, Melba was more my style!
Yes Cat, yes. Those mid 70's sounds from the Bee Gees were absolutely top notch and still brilliant to this day. Can you do a remix on 'Fanny Be Tender"? Melba Moore also did a disco version of "You stepped into my life" and Linda Clifford did likewise on 'Fanny' - so soulful black artists loved their songs too . . and also Candi Staton with her 'Nights on Broadway' version.
Wow, DJDiscoCat took a perfect song and truly purrfected it! 😄 one of my all-time favourite Bee Gees songs! 🕺💃 Thank you so very much DJDC, you’re a genius at this! I’m a loyal subscriber and please keep up the good work!
Wow! This is the first time I heard this from the Bee Gees. I thought Melba Moore was the only one who recorded this song in 1978 and made uniquely her own.
The verses to this song are my favorite part and sadly he only sings 2 verses in the original. Even though this seems like the same 2 verses repeated multiple times, its repeating my favorite part over and over, making this remix everything i could've wanted improved from the original. Loving it! Thank you for sharing.
The bgs rocked. Yes, rocked!! Most people only associated them w disco because of snf... but they were hitting the charts 10 +yrs before and even had a #1 w HCYMABH in '71. Not to mention several t10 hits and more t40 hits before they became "disco kings"!!!
I think the Bee Gees only had one disco song, "You Should Be Dancing," and maybe this great one; the rest was danceable r&b as they called it. Yes they had loads of great songs!
@@richardboudeman8372 I am quite aware of how those songs sound, having heard them all hundreds of times. But I disagree. The Bee Gees themselves claimed they are danceable r&b, not disco. They said they were asked to give some songs, meant for their next album, to a movie about New York Saturday nights and that they didn't want to call it "Saturday Night" because of other songs already out by that name (by Bay City Rollers and Earth, Wind & Fire I'm sure they meant.). I will of course acknowledge that the songs you mentioned would work in a disco and are disco environment worthy and are great. But in terms of beats per minute, bouncy bass and sweeping strings and so on, I don't consider them quite fitting the genre like "You Should Be Dancing" does. The uptempo Casablanca output of Donna Summer, Village People, studio acts like Ultimate, Ritchie Family, Voyage's first two albums, late 70s Cerrone, Alec R.Costandinos, Boris Midney's alias projects like USA-European Connection, I consider all to be disco. But "Stayin' Alive," "Night Fever," "More Than a Woman" and "Jive Talkin'" are so midtempo compared to so much of that and I think that and the soul / r&b amount put them outside of the pure disco realm. If you know of an interview where any Bee Gees member calls any of their songs disco, I'd like to know. Johnnie Taylor said "Disco Lady" was not disco genre and was just about disco environment. I agree; it is also midtempo r&b...people are able to move to it in a disco environment of course, but not fitting the literal genre definition I feel.
@@richardboudeman8372 I'm fine with agreeing to disagree with you, too bad you are apparently getting uptight and not fine with agreeing to disagree with me, and instead you act like no one else is allowed to have a different interpretation from yours. It doesn't seem really respectful to the mostly deceased Bee Gees to contradict how they feel about their music. They said KC and the Sunshine band and Village People did disco not them; they said they just got caught up in the movement and the backlash. I said my opinion that those songs are great and disco worthy and would work in a disco but are not literally disco genre. Of course it can be debated without an onslaught of exclamation points and attitude. The disco / danceable r&b bashers would be quite amused to see evidence of fans of disco and similar music fighting amongst ourselves. I'm not trying to force you to agree with me; I just stated my opinion. Have a wonderful day discoing on down.
Great track from the Bee Gees just as Disco was starting to explode and dominate all things on the musical landscape! Love the Melba Moore version of this song, any chance of doing something with that version in the future, Disco Cat? Mark GV - Reference Point
@@tanyakelly1260 ? Uh...they did. I do think Melba is very talented and should not have had the bad luck she had in her career; I have most of her albums.
