I am an older brother, this is my queen , I absolutely adore and appreciate her, her music is so healing to my soul,. I can listen to her for days and days, non stop. I was blessed to find her first CD, recorded. Out of high school and another CD, with her dad and another great sister from Australia. If can, get every thing shesever recorded. I have some of her dad's music, its great. I also proud of her. She is one of my all time favorites, and my music collection is serious. It is Queen Syleena and Queen Jaguar Wright, that allowed me to play something other than The Last poets, Brothas Keepa, and Fela Kuti. She led me back to Empress Aretha Franklin, to Howling Wolf and Big Mama Thornton, and so many other greats, including John Coltrane. She is the truth, please always support her. One of the greatest, I have ever heard, makes you proud of our young people and reminds Me, that a BLACK MAN is not sinning, when he honors, protects and worship BLACK WOMEN...... I am South African, back in 2015 we hosted and sponsored JAHEIM along with ANTHONY HAMILTON for a 1 night performance in Johannesburg.
Now if there's one thing about South Africans,we love and appreciate R&B Music. Many R&B artists that have toured SA will tell you how easy we are to entertain,play us tracks that are popular off your albums and everybody will sing along with you.
Prime Example, TEVIN CAMPBELL,REGINA BELL,ANTHONY HAMILTON,ANITA BAKER,JILL SCOTT,JOHN LEGEND and hoards of other artists know wasup, some artists were shocked to know or witness the vibe we created in their shows.
Now JAHEIM, as a first timer in SOUTH AFRICA was advised by the promoter about the nature of the South African attendees at this show,he was advised to sing mainly singles that the crowds were familiar with in order to cement his place in SA,the gent was even given a list of all his songs that were popular in SA.
Again, he was advised over and over again,to perform those songs so the people can jam and sing along with him...now Anthony understood the locals better as he was on his 3rd tour of SA and also advised him on exactly what/how he needs to go about with his perfomance which was gonna result in him getting love like he ain never experienced even in his home country.
Moving right along, now on the night of the show,Anthony was supposed to close the show but JAHEIM insisted changed the roster at the last moments and demanded to close the show,ANTHONY being a gentleman that is had no problem and explained to us that he's cool with the change as he had closed shows before in SA and has had his fair share of adoration from the fans.
So ANTHONY went in first,did his thing beautifully,as usual the crowds loved his perfomance...Thereafter in came JAHEIM, man The guy changed the list and started singing songs that were unknown by the crowds(it turned out he was promoting his AGE AIN A FACTOR album) which at that point was unknown to us down in SA as it hadn't been released as yet.
The man went on to sing these songs that no one knew and ultimately the crowds got fed up with his shitty perfomance and he got booed off the stage,needless to say people vowed never to buy his albums ever again.
Many folks felt hard done by that dude's behavior, to think up til then i had a collection of all his albums,but after that disappointing show I gave away all his cd's and stopped buying his albums.
That's my story and bad experience about JAHEIM HOAGLAND ya'll.
The man still has a beautiful voice,that much I will admit but his attitude stinks.
