I went to the Taft bins on a Saturday. My mistake. The Hatians were running the place, and you couldn't even get to a bin; they scooped everything into carts. They will literally move you out of their way, and they are super aggressive. It's a bummer for me, and if I didn't work, I would go during the week. It seemed more chill then.
I’ve never been on a weekend but I can imagine! As far as the people who frequent there - I have zero patience and I’m not nice. They don’t push me around. It took a few times for me to gain my confidence and those workers don’t allow for their foolishness either. I will absolutely tell someone what’s up and move them right back. 😂 but it’s not for everyone I’ll give you that! I will loudly say, “don’t touch me, no pushing, stay back, etc.” Loudly. Haha.
Ok so I have so much to comment on this video! 1st did I hear you say you were a police officer?! Thank you for your service. Also thank you for your PSA about being aware of surroundings, so important. The sweater from Anthro is called Monogram. Love, love, triple love your bins idea. It's better then the thread up boxes because you are hand picking every item. You can take the money you make from the kids consignment items and use it at the bins! You and Michael are just a hoot to watch. Looking forward to more bins hauls in 2023😊
Thank you so much for watching! And yes, so cliche, my hubby was a firefighter. Both for the same county. We are both from home now. And thank you!! A few items arent listed because they are drying or need attention. That one needs a bit of a sweater shave. And thanks! I have done one more haul since this and the COG makes me happy. I will still order some thredup now and then because I do love it. I have a 50 pounds of kids on the way. More hauls to come for sure!!
Here's a tip. If you are coming from the north on OBT and want to turn onto Taft Vineland, better to keep going and make a U at CFL and come back and make a right. FL traffic sux.
Yeah my gps told me to turn on a random side street beforehand but I couldn’t get over! Typically I would be coming from Orange Ave and turning right and it’s not nearly as crazy. 😂
@@AmandaPruitt That's a good way to go. Better to turn right into the Goodwill than trying to turn left thru that non stop traffic. Yikes. Still have been blocked by slow moving CSX off Orange lately. Teeny tiny thrift I've discovered PineCastle Thrift on Wallace between Hansel & Orange. Run by a Methodist church if you want to ck them out.
I’m hustling to conquer my entire death pile so I can go more often. Honestly might send a bunch of decent stuff to ThredUP to just get it out of my house 😂
Back as long ago as the 1990's, I noticed the prices going crazy at GW in my city. It might have to do with being a college city, and close to the Mexico boarder. The sticker shock you're getting now, I got over 20 yrs ago! I haven't been to a regular GW in 10 years. In most areas like you mentioned, the racks were so over filled the stuff was crammed in almost all sections. Glad the bins trip paid off for you as well as they did.
So crazy! You would think they would want to sell stuff at a decent price rather than ship it off to a bins. Especially when most of their inventory is free.
@@AmandaPruitt -One would think. After all they have a lot of overhead to pay at these stores. I can only assume that the stores are still making profit as they haven't closed down.
Wow! What great finds! Especially that 101 Dalmatians set! I was born in 86 and definitely looks like Something I would have worn as a child. Also love your husbands Hank Williams T-Shirt, great song for sure. You’ve got me wanting to head over to the Orlando bins, we will be heading there next month so I might have to take an empty suitcase with me and disappear for a few hours 😂
What a great haul. If I had the bins around me, I would cut Goodwill out and go straight to the bins. The COG from the bins compared to the COG from Goodwill, you get more. Especially, when it comes to the time spent at Goodwill. Spending an hour at the Goodwill and leaving with 1 item compared to 1 hour at the bins, you were able to find more at the bins for the same 1 hour. Good job, Amanda.
I hadn't even realized the time!! You are so right! I spent a lot of time checking comps at the retail store, the bins is a deadzone so while I couldn't check as many, I could have walked out with what, 15 items at the hour mark? And GOOD ones too! Thanks for pointing that out. I definitely have to leave the retail stores behind.
Oh yes I’m please don’t misunderstand- there are DEFINITELY amazing things to be found at the retail stores. But time is money. I was looking for quantity so the bins was where it was at. I’ve found my share of steals, even paying up, many many times!
Such a fun haul Amanda! I expect the bins to just get better & better with the outrageous pricing at the Goodwills. Michael had me belly laughing with your satin joggers! When I get a great outfit I tell my husband it's time for a date night - because I need somewhere to wear my new clothes! He is always happy to take me out. The Disney track suit is such a wonderful find and your daughter modeled it so nicely. I do pretty good with WHBM - if the piece is substantial. I think you will be able to flip the jackets you didn't keep for yourself. I can't wait to see your future bins haul - this was a fun video👍
Thank you so much for stinking it through til the end!!! I’m still waiting on that date night 😆 and gah I don’t know if I want to list that track suit, it’s just so epic. I already have interest in the jackets yay!!
There are no Goodwill bin stores within 250 miles of me here in Colorado. A 5 hour drive across the Continental Divide. In fact there is only one Goodwill store on the whole western side of Colorado. So, of course prices are sky high there and the racks are stuffed full. I actually talked to the store manager about the fact they needed to lower prices to actually sell more and clear the racks a little. He stated it was not up to him that prices were set by the head office in Colorado Springs (east side of Colorado). The Goodwill store is even located in the rich part of town, lol. What ever happened to the concept of helping the less fortunate? ps. Your daughter in the 101 Dalmatian outfit is adorable!
Oh man!! I would probably heavily rely on things like bulk boxes from ThredUP if I didn’t have the bins. Hopefully once corporate sees that bottom line start to fall out they will get back to reasonable prices. Even items for personal use, reselling aside, it’s just too much for stained and used items.
My Goodwill's have gone pricing crazy too! Which is hilarious because those overpriced items probably end up in their very own bins. Edit to add lol just got to part in video where you say the same thing 😊
I'm from Orlando. I don't go to the retail Goodwills anymore. I will go to the bins every once and awhile. I worked for Goodwill as a manager about 20 years ago. I just saw a news story today. They are having a job fair tomorrow 2-3-2023. Retail workers will be paid $14+ and management $17+ starting. No way was my salary even close. Now we see why the prices are so high. Employees make more, we pay more, employees make more, we pay more. The circle continues with no end.
Insane. As a rookie cop I started at $18 an hour. WITH a college degree. This world is crazy. My first actual job at Universal I made $5.15 😆 my kids have a few more years to go, they will start at Publix making 45 an hour.
Goodwill employees deserve a decent living wage! You cannot even afford an apt rental making that salary…minimum wage is WAAAAAAY behind the rate of inflation. And your analysis of why prices are higher is just not that simple.
Hi! I don't really have a preference, I live about 20 minutes from either. One is in the middle of an industrial park and the other is in a normal grocery store strip mall. I have found great things at both. Neither are in a great part of town so just be aware of your surroundings.
This tee had a hole from the dang goodwill tag ugh. Washing didnt close it up so my son got to keep it. But I will definitely always pick it up for cheap!
Oh mine can be for sure - hence why I only really dig in the picked over bins. People have no shame and my sassy mouth can’t stay shut when strangers touch me 😆

Thank you!!! The swish sound when she walked brought back so many high school memories 😆
Interested in the gloves, thick winter ones.

This is even more fun to watch now that I went to those bins and that specific goodwill!! Congrats on all the finds!!
Yes!! So much cooler to see thrifts from your local spots. It’s like a 360 Birds Eye view 😆

If it’s close - go!! You won’t regret it 🥂

I found 20 hole Doc Martens at retail Goodwill for 12.99 and snapped them up! Even at that price it's a steal.

I'm near Gainesville I would love to go to the bins. I've never seen one of those stores
Use google maps and type Goodwill Outlet! Surely there has to be one near there.
Omg that Dalmatians outfit is adorable!
Isnt it?! I feel like I probably owned the same one, I would have been Mollie's exact age in 1992!

I’m dying to go to the bins by you. Mine in St Petersburg has the canvas rolling bins. Too deep and kill my back.

@cathycervenka our goodwill employees in Orlando are making between $17-$20 per hour, more for managers. I think that’s pretty decent!!
Great picking 😊
Thanks! 🙂
I'm in Jacksonville Florida and our bins are very small.

I only know of the two goodwill outlet locations here in Orlando.
