Nile Rodgers is amazing. This song, as much as any other, proves it. This song plays in my head regularly
I wish this album was released with the rest of the 1980 Chic sessions.
That funky Nile Rodgers guitar and Johnny's warm vocals!! Yes!! So glad this has finally been released.
Johnny Mathis funky side at his best with CHIC !
Mr. Mathis can sing all kinds of music. What a great singer with a great voice!!! I am a big fan who has most of his albums!
Real nice beat. Johnny can sing any genre of music.. It's what he does. And a master at it. It's his gift from God. I've really started listening to him since the late 70s. I heard him sing title songs to a couple of movies as a child. A Certain Smile.. And The Best of Everything.
Yes, Johnny can sing it all. I'm crazy about him!
My first time hearing this song. Great voice!
Good song. That groove during the verses is second to none. So imaginative. Classic Chic sound
Beautiful
Great Chic track!
I will sing about the love l have for Mathis music which youth today need to be aware of his greatness, but of course they won't because the youth minds are being programed by the TV and radio stations that promote unworthy music.
How this wasn't released from the start is beyond me........ great music!
SciarraA It’s called RACISM. Wake up
I read a few articles when they released this last year, and it doesn't sound like anyone involved in the album's production, including Johnny, knew exactly why it got shelved. But I read in a Johnny Mathis forum that the label thought it would't appeal to Johnny's fans, so I guess we'll never really know.
Ay Jy What do you find so hard in excepting that RACISM was the reason, the label were petrified that this album was way too black and he was going to lose his (white) core audience. The way people try to avoid the truth is just nuts.
One of the articles I was referring to was this one in Billboard (www.billboard.com/articles/news/8054953/johnny-mathis-box-set-chic-album-interview). Since Johnny was quoted directly saying he doesn't know why an album was shelved, I assume he's telling the truth since I wasn't there in 1981 to say otherwise. But if you're able to get a specific answer from Columbia Records about the real reason this album wasn't released until last year I'm sure his fans would be very grateful. Thanks Viv Lara!
Ay Jy You think your slick but your just showing yourself up as a total JERK Typical. Why do white people find it so hard to accept the TRUTH. Which record label is going to say “WE SHELVED THE ALBUM BECAUSE WE’RE RACIST”. So PROFESSOR EINSTEIN why do you think they would not release this album?
Go, Johnny Go!
San Diego.....here l come.
Great tune here
Johnny, chic, and Luther Vandross background.. awesome
The male voice in the background is Fonzi Thornton.
Luther was firmly into his own solo career and no longer singing on CHIC projects.
Jocelyn Brown also on bvs
Soooooo good! 💖
When I see him I will ask him why this album was never released.
C'est Chic
This sounds a bit like Al Jarreau. I remember this song when I was a teenager....
Strange that Sony thought this album wouldn't sell and they decided to shelf it and release another greatest hits compilation instead. This album would have sold to a younger generation. Wrong move for the Sony executives. If released, I Love My Lady would have piqued the interests of Chic fans as it did with Sheila, Debbie Harry, and of course Diana Ross which all experienced big sales.
Chic were very popular so I don't know why they thought this wouldn't be successful.
@@ajs41 they felt it was too much of a contrast to Mathis fans expectations and got cold feet. Typical unimaginative record company execs!
Don't forget Sister Sledge.
