Green/black shirt guy is very athletic. Combined with his aggressive game, I can see how he was so dominant at the 5.0 level. The blue shirt guy was not as athletic and didn't play an aggressive style, but he is sneaky good. He played the percentages and picked his spots to go for shots. When he did go for his shots, they were impressive. Both seemed to have good serves... Good match!
Grant G Blue is aggressive, but I think aggressive was describing his demeanor. Blue doesn’t look intense. He looks smooth and calm, but is always looking to attack as you said.
Very interesting. You can see the level difference. The guy wearing green/black looks like he’s the better player because of his aggressive style but the guy wearing blue shows that he is more experienced because of the way he play his shots. The shot selection of the guy wearing blue is much better that’s why he can neutralize and get his opponent wrong footed.
Seems like blue player is out of shape and playing more casually and keeping up fine. Black/green is working hard to achieve his results. I’m guessing blue player has another gear to shift up Into. But may not be able to do it physically right now.... or maybe he can, but doesn’t need/want to.
Before knowing whos who I originally thought Black was the D1 player but then I saw how inconsistent his technique is and how consistent blue is and then changed my mind on it.
Another good one. Looks like the black shirt/D2 player's forehand is more WTA-like than an ATP modern forehand (not a criticism, just an observation... it's working for him.) A couple highlights -- the return at 2:20, and the pretty cross-court backhand slice at 3:50. Well done, each of you.
Dan Smith Good observation. That return and slice are amazing. I wish I could upgrade to a WTA forehand. I have a recreational forehand if there’s such a thing : ]
@@rm8118 I wish I could hit like a lady. Williams sisters, Barty, Halep, Stephens, Osaka, Keys, Barty, etc. I'll take their groundstrokes, heck - their whole game over mine any day.
R M most of the time women have better form and more efficient strokes than men as they do not have enough man power behind the ball. Take the forehand for instance, they make up for this with their impecable form and a further swing back which if done by a male tennis player would be a killer forehand. However, male tennis players are not as flexible stopping them from doing this. Therefore, saying his forehand is similar to that of a WTA is a very good compliment
@@UserIsM this couldn't be more incorrect. The women have a bigger takeback of the racquet to make up for the lack of physical strength. When they take the racquet back, you can see the head of the racquet on the other side of their body. This doesn't do much to increase power but it does pose problems with timing and accuracy. Stosur is the only woman I can think of that doesn't use the exaggerated takeback of the racquet, probably because she's so strong. I think a lot of the women could improve their game if they changed this aspect of their stroke.
The Green/black shirt guy is doing well...I used to coach him when he was a nerdy kid with spectacles. we used to call him call him Mr.Pool cause that kid would sweat so much!!!
Just my .02 cents, they both played great! The guy in blue seemed to mix up his pace, spin, short angles, deep shots etc...He did a great job of keeping the other player off balance. The guy in black had great stamina, great at attacking short balls. Very enjoyable match to watch. Kudos to those two players.
@@PURETENNISsense lol! Glad to see you both commenting in the comment section. I would love to see (and I'm sure I can speak for others) you both play again. Very high quality tennis!
@@coryCuc We are trying to arrange it for sure! Been a busy season for work (coaching tennis) but we will definitely get another match in. Both of us are working on our games and getting better each week so it'll be exciting to compete again for score this time. Thanks for the positivity!
The blue shirt has very compact, close to the body strokes that give him a lot of control. It's hard to believe he finds any power at all, but it seems to be there when needed. He anticipates where the ball is going to be next very well, reminds me of McEnroe that way. McEnroe often appeared to be casually walking around the court to the next shot against flat power hitters with his superior anticipation.
sdfswords I agree and what you said is inline with many viewers. He’s calm and collective. Graceful and anticipates well. He kind of floats to the ball, smack it, then float to the next one.
As a coach I love your McEnroe analysis. I have been at court level to watch him play and learned so much. He constantly changed direction and spin on his shots. He had a way of moving forward with a short stroke that didn’t look like he was trying to hit it hard but was extremely effective.
Im a local ATL player and just discovered your channel...so fun to watch and with a great cause. Have yall thought about finding more women players? I saw a couple of your vids feature women...As a recreational woman player it would be fun to see who else is out there, compare levels, styles of play etc!
Lianne Anderson welcome to the channel. I do want to feature more women on our channel. There are many amazing women tennis players in the Atlanta area. Unfortunately I personally do not know of many women players. However, I’m always hopeful that we will have more women willing to show case their awesome tennis skills for our channel.
Thank you. Our goal is to show a variety of levels and styles. If you have a specific match up you will like to see, please share. Mine is one of our players playing Federer, but don’t see that happening any time soon : ]
@@TennisTrollChannel I had a hit with the 2011 Junior Wimby dubs champion (George Morgan) a few years ago, played a superTB, was totally in the zone, making 3 or 4 return winners and 3 aces - when he remarked 'my god I'm playing Federer'. That's as close to Fed as I've ever been, lol, but somehow I still lost the breaker...
betalpha314 that’s a nice compliment. From your comments you is obviously a good player. Can I ask your tennis background? Maybe you should consider a tennis channel for your matches. Hitting with a Grand slam winner even at juniors must be an awesome experience.
betalpha314 I see you do have a tennis channel. I subscribed. Your groundies are solid. 2018 is the last post? Hopefully we’ll see more recent videos from you soon.
@@TennisTrollChannel I would hardly call my content a channel - just a series of videos I wanted to back up before my iPhone died haha, I started super late.. 14 when I picked up a racquet and was a hitting partner with a D1 program for 3 years before walking on my final year when 4 starting seniors graduated.. didn't play as the school is very competitive. The guy I played groundie games with played #1 at a big 10 school in the early 2010s.
@@TennisTrollChannel Wow. That is even tougher. It's one of those shots that go unnoticed to the untrained eye, but as someone who plays, you realize how difficult a shot like that is, especially over the high part of the net. His ease of movement around the court, not expending more energy than he has to reminds me of Djokovic.
great plays and shots from the both of them! i really enjoyed to see the aggressive plays by the both of them, and the black shirt had a great serve! a very interesting match to watch indeed
Sheng En Lin good analogy. Pete has the best running fh of his time. We all remember his serve but sometimes we forget about his fh too. Thanks for sharing an awesome memory of Pete.
@@TennisTrollChannel he'd give current guys a run for their money too. except maybe nadal's & del potro's his running fh is still one of the best in the business
@@TennisTrollChannel Pete had the best running forehand ever! You sit up when you watch Pete's matches and the running forehand comes up. He almost never missed.
Not even sure who won cause I'm 5 minutes in but you can tell the guy in the blue is D1. He plays so effortlessly and his shots are clearly MUCH heavier.
interesting watch. feel like blue shirt has a MUCH better ROS and is more consistent overall while green shirt probably has bigger outright weapons (namely a great forehand and bigger first serve) but is more prone to errors especially when pushed wide - blue shirt definitely defends better. both much better than i ever was 😂 glad this popped up!
Did I miss something in the first game? At 1:10, isn't the score 40-30? And then he hits a good serve followed by a nice winner, so shouldn't it be game? But he serves again at what seems to be deuce at 1:22?
For this match, we showed highlights only. There are several points not included. This was one of our first videos and at the time we focused on highlights only. We have changed to full matches since based on viewers' comments.
Maybe we'll start keeping up with win/loss record on the channel and who played who with results. That's actually a good idea - thank you for suggestion. We'll look into it.
Mainly tracking the winning streaks over time so I can go back and review what changes Tennistroll made to his game. I really like the different style of plays from the video.
its amazing how much more energy the guy in the black/green shirt is exerting. hes working so hard and the player in the blue shirt very minimal potential., good playing though , nice soft hands on the lefty coming from a lefty myself!
Black shirt here. The D1 guy has a very easy flowing and fluid game. Rare to see that but he pulls it off incredibly well. Being 5'8, much harder for my size lol! Gotta rely on speed and other intangibles
It not how hard but how well placed every shot is hit. You can vary net clearance and spin but hitting deep will push your opponent back. It’s not about knocking them out with a couple of hard shots but setting your self up by being consistent with deep shots to get a short return or drawn an error from opponents. Also a good opponent will be able to absorb multiple hard shots and might even like to use your own pace against you to counter punch with a hard shot on the return.
It’s clear that blue shirt was coached by a D1 coach with his effortless and smooth game. He wasn’t too aggressive too often which really kills some of his points. Black shirt had a very strong approach to all of his shots and played really well. He definitely needs to work on his returns. Also is really good at giving the heat but once it’s coming at it seems like he crumbles.
Thanks for the great observations and feedback (I am black shirt). You are absolutely right! It was tough to return his serve as he serves like a true lefty and uses the disguise/pace/spin to his advantage. What's hard to see is the speed of the court, they are kind of fast. This proved tough as well during rallies as his balls when through the court really well and kept me on defense. He has a pretty high caliber serve and would definitely take at least a set to get used to. Thanks for watching and the constructive comments!
Blue Shirt had really great control over the ball; he seemed a bit slower than Black shirt but was able to control pretty much all of the points with his ball placement rather than pace. It seemed like Black Shirt had to play pretty high risk tennis to win his points. Both had really nice ground strokes.
iceescape that’s a good observation. It appears black shirt had to put in a little more effort to win. That could be from many variables including style. Nadal always looks like he had a war on tennis court but Federer doesn’t appear to even sweat.
@@HelpMeObiwan1 It did appear he was missing his slice some. Think he was experimenting with lead tape on some points and it may have impacted his swing. Nice photo - is that you hitting a cool backhand?
Viewing we don’t disclose the college name. I can say blue shirt played at ranked D1 (ranked consistently between 50-75). Black shirt was unranked D2. I heard blue shirt defeated a current starting player from his college in a recent tournament - he still has it.
The blue shirt guy made it look effortless even though he was less aggressive. His court movement is smooth like Mecir. Good video with contrasting styles.
D1 player in blue was hiting from 4-8 feet behind the baseline. It was clear in the beginning he was not going to beat you with agility or fitness. First, recognize he will beat you in extended rallies. Second, move him up and back and angles wide. Hitting looping topspins so he can comfortable hit behind the baseline is exactly what he wants from you. I'm not saying you would have beaten him. Recognize their Plan A. Never let your oppenent beat you with their Plan A. And, accept a player was just better than you when they beat you with their Plan B.
Black had a tough first game, playing pretty well, but blue just had an answer. Black’s tactic vs blue was good, can’t really ask anymore of him. Blue is so steady, forcing black to make errors.
Casinowiz steadiness appears to be a consistent theme among viewers. Blue has that Pete Sampras look between points. It’s as if he’s thinking of his next plan. Black shirt has an unreal serve form. I don’t know how he bends so much but it looks awesome.
D2 player has nicer stroke IMHO but the D1 player makes balls. Love the juxtaposition of the serves at the end. You’d never guess from that pic that the d2 was the players on the left.
They are both awesome, quality players. In my opinion, college tennis is so strong overall. There are amazing players at all college divisions. Fun fact - Division isn't a tier or rating/strength. The difference between D1, D2, and D3 are the number of sports and scholarship a college provides to athletics.
The follow-through and consistency of the guy in blue was much better . Player in black serve was much better though. He just didn't seem as on balance on his ground strokes.
@@PURETENNISsense awesome your forehand side footwork was really good and your follow-through in my opinion... On the backhand side it looked like you weren't stepping through the ball ...and the footwork and follow through made your slice float up high... Where do you play at looks like fun
You are spot on, thanks for watching! It's a habit I had since I was in juniors. I was pretty small back then so a bit more extreme semi-western grip and a lateral core rotation helped me to get a bit more spin and height on the ball. Guess it continued to stick haha. I've been working on stepping in and having more neutral balance on my shots. Thanks for pointing it out!
@@PURETENNISsense It's a long story but in brief I don't compete. I suffer a bit of anxiety that makes competition less than enjoyable. Also there is so much to this glorious sport beyond the competition. Tennis is a wonderful kinesthetic and strategic dance and it can really be enjoyed as a collaboration betwee two players working together to make each other better. That's what I do each day with my tennis partner who is 15 years younge than me. We do about a 1.5 hour workout most days and focus on building our skills. We dont serve ( a great way to preserve my back) and we focus rather on producing long rallies working the ball towards each other for the first 4-6 hits and then it inevitably turn into into a 'point' where we play it out to 'win'. We don't keep score. Both or our games have improved dramatically over the past 4 years that we've been playing together. Tennis is the highlight of my day, a real meditation. Lots of people can't understand why we don't want to compete - they want to know who is the better player etc. To us it's irrelevant. Some think we're 'just' hitting to each other. But it's not like that at all- we work really hard, often long rallies played a full capacity and capability - it's about doing all we can to improve ourselves nad each other without the interference of competiing egos, score keeping or needing to be better than each other. I'm as happy if my partner makes a great shot as when I do. It's a joy.
I'm black shirt, thank you for watching!! Not often people realize how much effort it takes to get to this level of play. We appreciate your perspective and respect!
@@PURETENNISsense true statement... I watch these videos and I feel like.. "I can still do this" then I walk onto a tennis court at 36 and need to take a break from just carryin my equipment

If the blue shirt player played an aggressive D1 player, I feel like the match would have looked totally different. Maybe he was meaning to take it light on the D2 player.
as far as shots comparison Division 2 player is better, but Division 1 player is more consistent and is able to find good shots in difficult positions. Division 2 player can defeat Division 1 player if he improves the consistency
@@PURETENNISsense you're welcome, you should try to be more calm during the points because you have good shots, for me it seems you are sometimes rushing
@@AeiKei you are exactly right. I've been working on just that over the last 2 months. The main problem has been fitness, with gaining weight and losing muscle mass I tend to feel rushed and don't produce smooth swings. The fitness has been getting much better and the tennis level is increasing now. Maybe a new video will reflect that.
It depends on how your current form is, grip position and you biomechanics of how our body works with different tennis strokes. Do you have some footage of how you currently hit? I can take a look and give you some things to help. You can check out my channel too and see if any of the videos help.
Easier said than done haha. I call it the Donaldson effect cause he actually had a similar issue before Dent’s father fixed it. Requires a ton of improvement flexibility-wise. That was my pitfall. Easier to fix in juniors than adult in my opinion.
TennisTroll Channel that’s where personally my serve basically plateaued. I wouldn’t say the blue players serve is a liability unless he takes it to the professional tour.
Agree - both players have amazing serves. Can hear the crisp sound when serves are hit. How does black shirt bend so much? Is his back or hips double jointed?
Dragon ball Z khai agreed. After seeing the response for scores, we are planning to have more videos (not all) to include scores. The newest videos since this one do include game scores. Thank you for the feedback.
Thank you for the positive comments and for watching. I really appreciate it! I have a full match uploaded on my channel if you are interested in watching.
Pete Rochester good question. This match occurred during the beginning of their training to prep for tournaments this year. It was shortly after the shelter in place were lifted.
In my opinion, very few if any. Nothing against these players at all. The best tennis players in the world are phenomenal. Pros hit and return 140mph serves and their forehands are 80mph. Plus their fitness is amazing.
I agree- pros can do things that recreational players cannot do. We have more limits around with our body and mechanics. We all want to copy Federer serve and can take certain aspects of his serve and incorporate it into our serves, but to mimic his serve is near impossible for us mortals.
@@TennisTrollChannel exactly ! for this goal I aslo try to film myself sometimes but it's easier to look at your videos that are already edited by cutting long timeouts between the points
Good play by both players, but guy on black/green seems spending a lot of energy compared to blue that looks relax on his movement. Also blue pressured black/green guy on his direction of the ball, and black/green guy seems bringing the ball back to strike zone of blue guy, or rather he keeps bringing it back to blue guy's backhand and blue guy is staying on that area as he is expecting where the ball is coming to. 2:20 great serve but better return
AesBinz AesBinz agree. 2:20 is unreal. Blue and black have contrasting styles. In video, black appears more energetic whereas blue appear calm and collective. Both have strong serve and forehand weapons. This was high level tennis in my book.
Love the videos...one suggestion...wouldn't it be good to add the UTR when available? I think it makes for a more even comparison. There's a wide range between D1 and D2 playing level. NTRP has also a good degree of variation between regions. Plus UTR lets you get a reading across ages and gender.
Balonkey maybe it’s closeup and we can better hear the sound so we assume it’s bigger. In my opinion, the far side seems 10x slower than the near side.
Time well spent I can say blue shirt played for a college that was consistently qualified for a nationally ranking. Black shirt college was not nationally ranked. We agreed to not reveal scores; however, we will consider a future video and include scores as this is a common request.
not sure who won but from the looks of it blue shirt did. black/green shirt had better strokes and more pace but blue shirt was more consistent. nice video
While he played some powerful shots, the guy in black (D2 player) was very passive at the baseline and didn't really try to change up his shots at all (i.e., change direction, height, depth, etc). Kinda let his opponent dictate where the point went. A little surprised he was that successful in college ball.
Great observations! You are right, it looked like I was very passive. The camera doesn't show how flat and fast the ground strokes were from the D1 player. It was difficult to adjust and send the ball back with varied trajectories. We have practiced a bit since then and I've adjusted to his pace a bit more. Still difficult on days he's ripping the fhs though.
the green/black shirt backhand slice was a glaring weakness, old school forehand for a younger person was interesting. Blue shirt was never under stress, comfortable one level above green/black
Was messing around with Lead tape for half the set and it was destroying the slice bh. Typically it's a pretty good shot for me. Blue shirt was definitely playing at a higher level that day!
@@TennisTrollChannel Yea my bad. I looked it up and i was refering to the itn rating I think. What would their itn rating be or would they have like a 0 and be better than that rating.
Looks like a good competitive match. Both good players. The one in the black shirt looks like he is getting a bit slower in his old age. JK 😋 looking solid Amyn!
kevin andersen believe blue shirt is a 10 with 3 matches counted. Black shirt doesn’t have a rating. They are both working on obtaining a UTR this year.
Qualified for 2 Futures tournaments, and 2 undefeated seasons at USTA 5.0 and that is a disgrace? I know he didn't win Wimbledon, but give the guy some credit.
@@TennisTrollChannel I meant its a disgrace that he is the no.1 player in the entire division 2. I thought the level of division was really high when it came to the top 10 players. But like you say .. I am unaware of the level of division 2 in general and had thought the players were really good at the top. And congrats on his achievements maybe in my Mind I thought he level was really high in D2
RV Club Tennis I see what you is saying. Black shirt was the #1 player at the college he went to. Not overall. My bad. You is correct- Division 2 is very strong at the top. Hmm- that’s an idea. I wonder if I can get the #1 D2 player overall and play the #1 D1 player. Thanks for the idea!
You watch these guys and how really really good they are and then realize if they were on the tour full time, they may be top 400? Educate me with your take on this. Thanks for a great video.
These guys while still really solid probably 5.5 ntrp in their primes would not even be able to get atp rankings. Not even close to top 400. You can watch the video of d1 with atp points and he was ranked around 1600.
Let’s see if the players can offer their perspective and answer your question. It’s a good question. Black shirt qualified for 2 Futures in the past but didn’t earn any ATP points. Blue shirt is young and improving. He hasn’t reached his peak yet in my opinion. He keep getting better.
It's really hard to say. Back in the day when I was competiting full time I had competitive matches with guys around the 500-1500 ATP range. However, winning consistenly at that level is another thing. In my opinion there are several layering factors that go into this answer: 1) FUNDING!!! I was coaching/hitting/training all week back in the day. Meaning that I would get a hit or workout in the morning, rest, get another hit or workout in the afternoon, coach in the evening then go home. This was a full 10-12 hr day for me. This would occur about 5-6days of the week. If I didn't coach and make money, my tennis lifestyle would've been done. Unless..... I had some way of being funded in the process. I could never travel with a coach and always had to find random hitting partners or friends (if I was lucky) at tournaments. 2) Commitment If a player does not full commit (make it a complete lifestyle) then trying to get ranked in the ATP and move up the ranks is nearly impossible. You have to be committed to make changes on your own and be your own critic since it's hard to come by a full-time coach. I took countless videos and did countless hours of evaluating my game, understanding what works and doesn't work for me. I becamy my own coach. 3) Training group/partners I was not able to have the highest level hitting partners for my competitive years. Sometimes I was able to work things out and hit with high level college players and sometimes my hitting partners were people that were not quite at my level and it would be hard to feel pressured during point play. This makes it tough since you might hit with someone at a 5.0 level all week and then end up playing against someone who is 1200ATP first round in a tournament. Obviously this doesn't work. 4) Nutritional & Physical commitment I went through many changes in my diet, phsyical fitness, workout/training programs and most of it was trial and error since I wasn't able to have a full-time coach. I learned A LOT and I can say that for what my body (5'9" lanky type - not anymore lol) is capable of, I really learned to maximize it's potential. I was eating things that many of my tennis friends around me would laugh at. I made my own electrolyte supplements, brought my own food to matches and touranments, never had gatorade/powerade or anything like that and I enriched my diet with very clean protein and green superfood supplements. Lastly.... 5) Time This is a massive committment and usally takes place in everyone's 20s. So while most may start to have and work their way up at a company with a successful job, aspiring tennis professionals (for the most part) are always broke because all their money goes into string, rackets, shoes, training, travelling and tournaments. I rarely had money left over to enjoy when I was in full tournament season. By the time I really started to hit my stride with tennis and play quite well and feel like I was close to possible getting an ATP point, I was 4 years in, 28 years old and met someone I wanted to spend the rest of my life with..... hard to get married and start a married lifestyle if you are travelling all the time, training all day and perpetually travelling for at least 2-3 weekends for most months (20 or so weekends/weeks) of the year. I hope this answers your question. To be honest, I've barely scratched the surface, there is so much more to this process but this is a good/basic understanding of what I went through and the commitment to playing on Tour. And again, this is my opinion and my process with it. If this is not what you were looking for then oh well, I shared part of my story :)
though in my opinion anyone who is competitive in futures qualies has achieved a lot in tennis. Its a lot of hard work just being able to do that so kudos!
the black shirt has a dangerous arc for his back when he serves while the blue guy is squatting too much. The black shirt main issue is that he has a long motion for his forehand which is not great for fast surfaces. Imho he is stronger in clay. Both are very good players
Hanamichi6666 thanks for your suggestions and compliment. We’ll share them with the players as they are interested in seeing your thoughts on how they can improve.
Good Point, I've been working on condensing my swing path. Just started getting back into competitive tennis so will take some refining. I appreicate the input!
Black/green shirt could really improve his game if he worked on his defensive backhand - going with the splice probably feels safer when the ball is at the top of its rise but it needs some work to improve the percentage. If he could get on top of those shots a little quicker, I think his 2H backhand would work better for him, especially if he gives it some depth and loft so he has time to get back into position.

Green/black shirt guy is very athletic. Combined with his aggressive game, I can see how he was so dominant at the 5.0 level. The blue shirt guy was not as athletic and didn't play an aggressive style, but he is sneaky good. He played the percentages and picked his spots to go for shots.

Amyn Tennis Channel it’s not kind. It’s true.

That forehand at 6:38 was 🔥🔥🔥
Winner from 5 feet behind the baseline (or more?). How do you do that?
watched it like 5 times. not only is it hit well behind the baseline but it keeps going for the back fence after first bounce. Crazy amount of drive
YK wen so true. Thank you for pointing that out. How to counter that shot - I dunno.
@@TennisTrollChannel absolutely correct! There is no counter for that. Just watch it and say, "great shot". That's about it!
Have yall thought about finding more women players? joe pro I agree. Blue shirt does look smooth on court. Good point in the % tennis- you is correct.
Finally, a match where the players are actually rated properly.

2:23 that requires a LOT of forearm strength to get that much pace on a shot that is that far wide and that high. Great shot.
And he hits with a near continental grip. Tremendous shot.
Cory well said. Actually, I didn’t know he has a continental fh grip till I asked him recently.

Highlights For you yes it is.
Not even sure who won cause I'm 5 minutes in but you can tell the guy in the blue is D1. He plays so effortlessly and his shots are clearly MUCH heavier.
Black shirt here, his balls are very heavy.... he has that easy loose power! Was a lot of work keeping up with it
interesting watch. feel like blue shirt has a MUCH better ROS and is more consistent overall while green shirt probably has bigger outright weapons (namely a great forehand and bigger first serve) but is more prone to errors especially when pushed wide - blue shirt definitely defends better. both much better than i ever was 😂 glad this popped up!
Matthew Pepe your assessment is good. That’s pretty much the summary of the match.
Great points, spot on with the analysis! Thanks for watching.
Did I miss something in the first game? At 1:10, isn't the score 40-30? And then he hits a good serve followed by a nice winner, so shouldn't it be game? But he serves again at what seems to be deuce at 1:22?

its amazing how much more energy the guy in the black/green shirt is exerting. hes working so hard and the player in the blue shirt very minimal potential., good playing though , nice soft hands on the lefty coming from a lefty myself!
Black shirt here.
The D1 guy has a very easy flowing and fluid game. Rare to see that but he pulls it off incredibly well. Being 5'8, much harder for my size lol! Gotta rely on speed and other intangibles
great strokes from both players.

@@PURETENNISsense sure thing, keep the good work going !
Huge hitting. Whenever I think I'm playing well I see top players and realize I need to add 10 mph to my average rally ball to move up a level
That does help...in my opinion, if below 5.0, being more consistent if what we are finding to be the best way to move up a level.
Don't worry, we feel the exact same when when we hit. Thanks for watching!
Black Shirt is obviously a very good player but for such a good player, he has a such poor floaty backhand slice!
Thank you for the kind words..... I had just put on some lead tape that day and it was really messing with the serve/slice.
Did black shirt ever win a round in futures? Qualifying is not easy!
Young Suit he did not. I agree. It’s impressive to qualify in my book.
Great stuff troll. If you could add the score every now and then like I think tennistim and others do, that would be great.
Thank you for the feedback - we have started adding scores to our recent videos. This video may have been the last one without scores.
I’d say black shirt guy tended to catch his slice bh a little too far in front sometimes. You loose feel when it’s too extended.
@@HelpMeObiwan1 It did appear he was missing his slice some. Think he was experimenting with lead tape on some points and it may have impacted his swing. Nice photo - is that you hitting a cool backhand?
i just graduated and played d1 tennis. what schools did these guys play at?
Viewing we don’t disclose the college name. I can say blue shirt played at ranked D1 (ranked consistently between 50-75). Black shirt was unranked D2. I heard blue shirt defeated a current starting player from his college in a recent tournament - he still has it.
The blue shirt guy made it look effortless even though he was less aggressive. His court movement is smooth like Mecir. Good video with contrasting styles.
Human Entity Miloslav Mecir? He was smooth. He had some great wins including Lendl. Excellent example.
Awesome observation! Cat like! :)
@@TennisTrollChannel yes, the big cat 🐈 Mecir.
The guy in the blue shirt mustn't have been trying. He was barely moving his feet for half of the points
I think he's an excellent anticipator.

Black here,
Thank you! It was tough playing the D1 guy, his ball went through the court quite well and rushed my strokes a lot. Fun match though!
@@PURETENNISsense awesome your forehand side footwork was really good and your follow-through in my opinion... On the backhand side it looked like you weren't stepping through the ball ...and the footwork and follow through made your slice float up high... Where do you play at looks like fun
Great match very solid players. Haven’t seen anyone comment on how often black falls backwards off of his open stance forehand
That is a good point. Thank you for the suggestion as the players do read the comments.

@@PaulMacklinAmazing it sounds like you are in good hands! Awesome to hear that you are still playing. Do you compete in any events?
It's a joy.
It's insane how easy it looks when watching these videos, but trying to actually play at this level is a whooooleeee other story
Agree - 99.5% of the tennis population will not reach this level of these two players.

as far as shots comparison Division 2 player is better, but Division 1 player is more consistent and is able to find good shots in difficult positions. Division 2 player can defeat Division 1 player if he improves the consistency

Easier said than done haha. I call it the Donaldson effect cause he actually had a similar issue before Dent’s father fixed it. Requires a ton of improvement flexibility-wise. That was my pitfall. Easier to fix in juniors than adult in my opinion.
Damaddog Pelletier good point. Many players have limitations to how they can move.
TennisTroll Channel that’s where personally my serve basically plateaued. I wouldn’t say the blue players serve is a liability unless he takes it to the professional tour.

Has each player been playing a good number of singles matches? I see that our pros that teach all day need some matches to get back into form.
Pete Rochester good question. This match occurred during the beginning of their training to prep for tournaments this year. It was shortly after the shelter in place were lifted.
How many games would these guys get against Djokovic or Nadal?
In my opinion, very few if any. Nothing against these players at all. The best tennis players in the world are phenomenal. Pros hit and return 140mph serves and their forehands are 80mph. Plus their fitness is amazing.
Almost certainly 0 games off any top 10 player.. that's even true of low level tour pros (futures/challengers) vs top 10 players.
Maybe one day we can set up a match and see how they will do with an active pro that’s not highly ranked.
many thanks @TennisTrollChannel for sharing, it is very interesting and learning to look at "normal" players !
I agree- pros can do things that recreational players cannot do. We have more limits around with our body and mechanics. We all want to copy Federer serve and can take certain aspects of his serve and incorporate it into our serves, but to mimic his serve is near impossible for us mortals.

Great observations!
Love the videos...one suggestion...wouldn't it be good to add the UTR when available? I think it makes for a more even comparison. There's a wide range between D1 and D2 playing level. NTRP has also a good degree of variation between regions. Plus UTR lets you get a reading across ages and gender.
We can consider that. That's a good suggestion.
Great point, but unless someone's UTR is active and they have played enough matches, the (P), "projected" UTR is not accurate.
Am I the only one who thinks that blue shirt’s serve looks 10x bigger when he’s on the near side? Must be a camera thing. Neat match!
Balonkey maybe it’s closeup and we can better hear the sound so we assume it’s bigger. In my opinion, the far side seems 10x slower than the near side.
TennisTroll Channel yes. From far away blue looks like an unusually accurate 4.0. Then when he’s camera side it’s like “oh. Damn.”

I think if the guy in green shirt leans into his stroke, his rallies will be more deadly. He kinda leans back when he hits the ball.

Yes- when he started Pure Tennis Sense channel, we changed his nickname.
Batman Vs Superman
who should wear a cape? that would be cool to wear on the tennis court.
1:15 What? That sound is not strange.
I don't understand. Is you referring to the ball hitting racket or when he lands on the court?
I think its when my serve hits the ground and my foot lands from the serve
While he played some powerful shots, the guy in black (D2 player) was very passive at the baseline and didn't really try to change up his shots at all (i.e., change direction, height, depth, etc). Kinda let his opponent dictate where the point went. A little surprised he was that successful in college ball.
Blue shirt his a very powerful drive. I"m guessing it has more to do with how good blue shirt as he did play at a nationally ranked D1 school.

I thought i was the only one thinking that. His serve n backhand slice give him away.
the green/black shirt backhand slice was a glaring weakness, old school forehand for a younger person was interesting. Blue shirt was never under stress, comfortable one level above green/black

After watching the entire video I've decided..... these 2 players are clearly better than I am......... carry on....
: ] better than me too.
Haha thanks for watching!
Looks like a good competitive match. Both good players. The one in the black shirt looks like he is getting a bit slower in his old age. JK 😋 looking solid Amyn!
Brent B give it to him : ] Are you still tearing it up in Alta and USTA? Hope so!
haha oh nooo!!! but this is true.... got a few more lbs to lose. That's why I wore the black, make me look slimmer :)
Oops! Thought you was someone I knew from Alta/USTA whose name begins Brent B. Maybe wondering, what is this troll guy talking about : ]
I don’t think they approached the net more than twice combined...
Healthy Wonders think that is correct
Yeah there were balls were I was like “attack attack.” Idk though I am an Agassi fan so I’m probably biased.
@@Maddawg31415 he's a great player!
Guy in the blue is solid
Tennis Simon currently he’s one of the best in our channel.
What are both players UTR rating??
kevin andersen believe blue shirt is a 10 with 3 matches counted. Black shirt doesn’t have a rating. They are both working on obtaining a UTR this year.
What are their UTRs?
I'm not sure actually.
Would be nice to know who's who.
ChrisGotsIt view the video’s description for details. Black shirt is D2. Blue is D1.
this is definitely a disgrace to the division 2 level..not saying hes bad but for being no.1 it shows the level
@@TennisTrollChannel Good luck very well recorded.
Aren’t all teams nationally ranked?
Common Dirtbagz in Division 1, only 75 teams obtain national ranking. There are more than 250 D1 schools. I think 25 or 30 teams are ranked in D2.
TennisTroll Channel ohhhh, interesting! Thanks for letting me know, i appreciate it.
In my opinion there are several layering factors that go into this answer:
1) FUNDING!!!
2) Commitment
If a player does not full commit (make it a complete lifestyle) then trying to get ranked in the ATP and move up the ranks is nearly impossible. You have to be committed to make changes on your own and be your own critic since it's hard to come by a full-time coach. I took countless videos and did countless hours of evaluating my game, understanding what works and doesn't work for me. I becamy my own coach.
3) Training group/partners
I was not able to have the highest level hitting partners for my competitive years.
4) Nutritional & Physical commitment
I went through many changes in my diet, phsyical fitness, workout/training programs and most of it was trial and error since I wasn't able to have a full-time coach.
Lastly....
5) Time
This is a massive committment and usally takes place in everyone's 20s.
@@PURETENNISsense very awesome post!
though in my opinion anyone who is competitive in futures qualies has achieved a lot in tennis.
So are we just supposed to keep track of the score perfectly as we don’t skip a single second for all 7 minutes? (put the score on the video!!!)
Auggie Aliaga we post highlights of the match. We are adding scores to most videos from now on after hearing the request from viewers.
Good suggestions - thank you for sharing as the players do read the comments to get ideas to improve.
Thanks for rhe suggestion, you are absolutely right. Its been something im actively working on the last few months. It's starting to get better.
im 16 and I play nationally in the uk and ill beat you both comfortably... what futures were you playing lol?
DON’T CLICK MY PROFILE PICTURE that’s nice to know.
290 or 315g Fed Wilson?
315g Fed Wilson, slight lead tape, 16g polyester

Agree - we plan to have these two play a rematch with score in future.
Thank you!
What a nice game
