Hi Jonathan, I just purchased a sds 100 through Scanermaster as a result of your great videos. I am having them program 2 counties that I travel in daily for work. I was wondering whether or not the gps is something that I would need? Also I am having a hard time finding a decent wideband portable antenna. Everything seems to be sold out! Would appreciate any help you can give me. I am new to scanning.

Been to lots of airshows and never had a problem with bringing in a scanner. Why hasn't the industry added Bluetooth scanner radios yet.

OK, questions on segment with GPS at 35 minutes in. I am a long haul truck driver and I frequently travel i-80 from Oakland,CA to Lincoln, NE. Lets do a fictional trip with my SDS 100 WITH THE GPS attached. In Sentinel I added all the Highway patrol frequencies for the state.
Now i set the range to ZERO as i will be using the GPS. I assume it will then only be switching off and on, the local channels as i am driving from the Nevada line to Oakland and bypassing the other locations unless in my vicinity say a Los Angeles CHP channel happens to also be used, let's say in Dixon, CA?
Next scenario same equipment leaving California going to Lincoln, NE with same equipment and range as given above. Now, I want to listen to all law, fire, EMS, AND DOT road crews ALONG THE ENTIRE I-80 ROUTE. Now, since i am using my GPS, DO I HAVE TO PRE-PROGRAM every service type from EVERY COUNTY from RENO TO LINCOLN, NE before i start my trip? Or can i some how just "turn a service on" and it gets turned off or on locally along my route? I do not have a laptop on the truck. That's why i am asking about scanning service types along the way so i do not have to hold the scanner too much when driving.
I want to know if I can have it scan the "BIG 4" as i travel vs having to list every "BIG 4" by every county along the way before I start my trips as dispatch can change my routes randomly after delivery and run me to say Albuquerque the next week...to make that left turn as it were. In other words, "Hey SDS 100, take these BIG 4 and follow me across the USA and let me know what they are saying close by as i drive."
Not wanting to preload every agency by every county in advance every week. that would take too much time.
