An easier way is to just remove the plugs either side of the car, remove the sound ending foam Leave the plugs out, any water that comes in will go straight back out, plus it will increase airflow to keep everything dry Due to our miserable roads, the vents never stay sealed
100% ... pull that sound deadening material out as thats where the water gets sucked up, leave the grommet out and so what if some rain water gets sucked up as you drive, it will drain straight back out and not soak into anything... 100% fixed for good
hello matey ive just done mine today seen videos before with similar to yours can i just ask do you put any boss white around the light holes or a rubber washer it seems an other spot water can get in & trickle down to boot well they dont seem to have a seal around light holes ? cheers brian
I seem to have leak through the hydraulic hinge when u pull boot up? Ran water over and it trickles down but it’s pooling somewhere but dripping down have no idea how to fix
Hope you got it sorted mate. I had the same with my focus estate too. Apparently with estate's the water runs underneath the roof rails - behind the lights into the wheel well. I only noticed mine when my windows would mist up (and I always use the air conditioning) and I noticed a smell starting. It's a common issue with both the hatchbacks and estate's but seems the source of the leak is different. If memory serves I paid around £180 to have it sorted 👍
you need to also get that white material out or it will just keep sucking up water, but yes get the material out and leave the grommet out and you wont ever have to worry about the seals around the vents ever again
@@toddalcock6879 Hi there, please could you advise where these rubber bungs actually are located please? I have a Ford Focus 2014 I would rather try that out first before dismantling bumper etc.TIA for any help

I use a disco smoke machine inside with the blowers on an on recirculate. Works a treat to find leaks
There's loads of different ways, even use a thermo camera
@@bazmeredith dont know that one
Good idea with smoke machine were do u feed wire from into car to smoke machine from mains ?
@@danielgreenbaum8875 just put the machine in foot well an close the door with wires hanging out the door
Do the 2015 focus 1.0lt ecoboost facelift models have the same problem or was it fixed by ford
Mine's gone all the way to the driver and passenger footwells. Were the other two vents ok?
Yep common as on these i always tiger seal around the bent too as they can releak
This has just happened to mine. I can’t afford to get fixed at the moment. Could I just take the bungs out for now?
@@paulloveridge8619 yes water will drain out
