Same problem here.Only discovered it by chance today whilst looking for the locking wheel nut.Was dry about 6 weeks ago but the recent heavy rain must've shown it up.Will have a go at this when weather is better.Dried it all out for now.
Really useful video. A body shop had failed to tighten up their replacement for wingnut (which they either broke or lost!) allowing water to seep in and fill up the box section. I used silicone as additional sealant. All we need now is some rain to test it...
Got the same issue on my fiesta, hopefully it's caused by the same fault, going to get those lights off as soon as possible to check. Very helpful video!
The water collects in the bottom corner of the rear quarters. Underneath the car in the bottom of the quarters are 2 bungs you can remove so the water drains out. So Ford obviously realised this would be a problem at the design stage.
Good find 👍. If this is anything like the MK2 they are notorious for leaking at the spot welded seam at the gutter joining roof to rear quarter and on the seams around the rear boot hinges. Fills the boot much the same.
Sheffield Wednesday top 🤣🤣🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I was thinking are you a supporter. Yeah I’ve got a leak in my boot and In the back seats it’s all wet. I haven’t got a clue what is going on 🤷🏻♂️

I don't think the leaky seal you found is the cause of the problem. Any water coming in through these seals falls to the ground rather than into the boot. I had the same problem and it was coming from a tiny crack in the welding between the roof and side of the car. I proved it by pouring water onto the roof and watching it coming into the car slightly higher up and more interior to the car than the upper bolt hole that you seal in your video. I had already tried your solution but when it didn't solve the problem investigated further.
hi pretty sure this isnt the leak have repaired a dozen of these for water leaks you need to remove the rear bumper very easy then on the ns and os there are the rear vents remove them and the box sections will be full of water as the vents leak you can remove the grommets and dry the box section out and seal or replace the vents.
yep, had exactly that fix done in February, really thought it was sorted. Today have found after recent heavy rain and just parked outside, its leaking again, feel so angry at Ford, will never buy another!
Hi would this sort of leak travel to the footwells too as mine are soaked. Sold to us as a dodgy wet car unfortunately. Garage has had it in lots and can't find the leak, next job there going to try the back bumper filters?
I fixed mine Mk 3 2012 with the vent issue but now have another a lot higher up was working water the hose pipe near the seam weld near the hinges on the near side and it started coming through the double skinned part does this model suffer from bad panel sealing also the paint has come of the old bead sealant
I also did the 4 vents behind the rear bumper and drilled a hole in the bung's, plus resealed the light clusters and give them a good tightening on the plastic fasteners. See if that help's, Fingers crossed.

Agreed, it won’t do any harm to seal the lights too, but the vents behind the bumper are most likely the cause. Pull the bungs out on each side behind the bumper and check first, if the water runs out and/or the sound damping material is saturated then it’s off with the bumper.
I have the plugs under the vents pulled out still leaking but see the occasional drop of water from the rear light. You was spot on about Ford not clipping the wire, I had both boot bulbs unconnected but in the light compartment.
@Simba Gaming I did more or less. So first thing that was done was to apply silicone sealant round all the bolt holes under the rear lights inside the boot as well. That took care of most of it but I still found mold growing in a streak on one side of the boot afterwards where water ran down. The sealant was actually done by the used car dealer I bought it from but it didn't quite fix it. No wonder they parked it inside the dealership but anyway. Feeling up into the column up above (the one to the side of the rear glass above the rear lights) I found that was a bit damp too. I then applied more sealant round every joint on the top of that column and round the plate where the boot lid side support arm is bolted to it. Other similar ford models also apparently have issues under the plastic strips on the roof so you might want to check under them too.
It's actually Fords engineering flaw. All Ford owners, especially the focus are finding the boots n inside car flooded. Ford should be stopping such production and paying its customers compensations!!!
