    My sister has an ‘08 Dodge Avenger 2.4L 240k miles and it is great. She floors it EVERYTIME she accelerates. I can’t believe How well-built this thing is after seeing how hard she has driven it for the last 10 years. Obviously, it has had its share of minor issues. Thermostat housing replaced 3 times (kept cracking) And it kept throwing batteries and alternators, because the battery kept getting wet due to it being inside the Driver side front fender. The rear defrost interferes with the radio reception because of how close the antenna is. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to buy a used one because It is extremely reliable. We’ve been told the reason it has lasted this long is because of the way she drives it, so be sure not to baby it and stick that thing to the floor. It’s not fast by any means, but it will get you where you want to go.

    Have a 2012 Dodge Avenger se 2.4 liter with 209,000 miles on it. Bought it from my nephews wife when it had 162,000 miles on it . I’ve had no problems at all except I’ve changed the brakes and bought some tires. The Previous owner maintained it well and so do I and it’s been great !!

    Cheap paint and interior, but the 2.4L SE I got is reliable. Some minor stuff, like paint/clear coat, antenna cover crumbled off, passenger side door vinyl peeling up, A/C vents don't work, and I had the headrest popped out (recall). Did have the blend door issue twice.
    Not a bad car. I loved the look (the paint is killing me though). Engine is a dog. But it starts up every time.
    I bought the car in May 2018 at 49500 miles, it has almost 79k miles now.

    Wow,you really did a good job...I know this because I own a 2013 Avenger,82,000 miles,have had it almost 5 years and it has been a very good car.The thermostat housing is plastic and is known to leak....mine does leak but its a very small amount so I havent got around to it yet.The blend door,occasionally clicks...there is heat on both sides,I think andI get a little noise coming from the rear that is probably a drag link but I am not sure.
    Motor and trans seem very reliable and very little has ever been done to this car since it was new.Rocker panels still look good and It has lived in Maine its whole life but the mileage is limited to just about 1500 a year so it hasnt really been put through the ringer.I am glad to hear about your knowledge with this car and I may be back so Thanks and you got a new subscriber!

    Funny enough i found this while looking for replacing the rear suspension parts because the camber is starting to get there. Before I owned it (bought it off my dad) he took it to a shop to get an alignment but the tech said it was so rusted that he adjusted it the best he could because he didnt want to snap the bolt. Also having that blend door issue.

    I have a 2013 Avenger RT 3.6 with 187k miles.So far my AC went out.I changed blend doors of course which is a cheap fix.Paid 1k for air to be fixed at Firestone only to last 1 week.Other than heating/AC problems its still a solid running car.The 3.6 is a great motor and runs strong until 4th gear.The tramsmissions aren't the best.I wrapped my inside door handle with electrical tape as video says it will flake and cut your fingers.Oh also the trunk lid isnt sealed very well.Always digging leaves,sticks,and dirt out of the trim.I won't part with mine and bought it new in 2013.Most powerful V6 in its class back then and still quicker than sports cars a decade newer.But I do have mods.Diablosport Intune,cat back exhaust,cai.

    Good Video. Very helpful. I am in need of a new vehicle. I currently have a Dodge Caliber with 279K miles on it. It has been reliable. But nickle and diming me now. There is an Avenger near me. 2013 SE with the 3.6 in it. I looked at the carfax. All oil changes and recommended maintenance has been done regularly. It seems like it would be a reliable, fun car to drive. It has 72K miles on it and they want 8K which is within my budget. I will go look at it and inspect the areas you pointed out. I am thinking it is a good deal??????? Reading comments here it seems like everyone has had good experiences with this car.

      Great! Thanks! Timing BELT on my 2008 VW Bora GLI (I'm in Mexico) broke and caused me a total engine rebuild. After shop rebuilt the head, the car developed oil consumption from a damaged Piston, so we rebuilt the bottom half of the engine. Car still didn't run right. I got a 2008 with the 2.7 and they said the engine was bad. Compression tested and 2-6 were all @150 but cylinder 1 was only 70. I took it apart and it had just one exhaust valve that was a tiny bit bent. Replaced and reassembled. It’s quick and should run a lot more miles. These are all simple cars. Only thing I don’t like is where the battery is. The rest is fine.

    • @scrambler69-xk3kv
      @scrambler69-xk3kv 6 месяцев назад

      water pump is in the oil pan and when the seal goes bad antifreeze gets into the oil That is why the 2.7 is known as the sludge engine. Keep a close watch on your oil and if you see the oil starting to look like a milkshake get it to a service person right away. If you continue to drive it you will ruin the bearings and the engine will be toast.

      I think the Fusion might be more comparable to the Chrysler 200 than to the Avenger.

    • @colinschmitz8297
      @colinschmitz8297 Месяц назад

      It depends on the year. The 06-09 Fusion is preferable to the 08-10 Avenger as the early years suffered from some cost cutting from Cerberus. The Fusion in its original form was very reliable especially with the 3.0 duratec and Aisin 6 transmission and hydraulic steering. Remember that the early Fusion was very heavily based on the Mazda 6 which had been on the market starting around 02-03 so by the time the Fusion started most of the bugs were fixed.
      Starting around 10-12, the Fusion started having problems as Ford dropped the bulletproof Aisin 6 speed for the 3.0 duratec and used their joint venture 6F35. The early years of this had shift flare issues. They switched to electric steering (look up the EPAS problems). Also the rare Sport model has the 3.5 cyclone V6 which has a timing chain driven water pump which can go without warning (note the Chrysler 2.7 had the same design flaw).
      Around 11, the Avenger was updated showing FCA having added an increase in investment in the build quality and using better materials. The Avenger by this point has most of the bugs worked out of it in the 4 cylinder application. The Pentastar was new for '11. My understanding is it wasn't a common problem, but they were known to at times have head issues. There's also the plastic oil filter housing that you have to be very careful not to overtighten as it is very brittle. 4-cylinder would probably be the safer bet. They came in either the four speed or the six-speed transmission.
      To summarize, The earlier years a fusion would probably be more reliable, the later years The Avenger would probably be more reliable.

      @@OldeCarrGuy Wow, that's the opposite of our Island of Puerto Rico, since we are a US territory vehicles are much more expensive than mainland US, we have to pay high arbitrary entry port fees, however American brands are considered a luxury and are much more expensive both new or used than the Japanese brands that dominate the market do you can bargain price down easily on Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, and Suzuki, but not so much on European or American brands. Check the main wire harness that crosses the front corner of the head on the transmission side of the engine. It’s known to chafe through the harness and create a short.

    2011lux V6 dodge avenger how to stop alarm from going off?

    • @OldeCarrGuy
      @OldeCarrGuy  7 месяцев назад +1

      Likely a failing door lock actuator. It keeps thinking the door is opening when it’s not and triggers the alarm.
      If it has a remote starter that’s not factory installed, it too could be messing with security!

    18 inch alloys are a deal breaker. I just do not understand why people think the bigger the tires the better. Damn it people stop and think. The bigger the tire the more expensive they are. Replacing those tires will cost a fortune.Hell I don't even like the price on the standard 17 inch tires. So no thank you bye. On to the next lot.

Very good vehicle-mines is red and it shines beautiful wherever we go! the center console does have a crack in it and the door handles have peeled and yes are sharp and will cut...to eaches own though!
