    When I was in the army we would smear ketchup on the brass and let it work before polishing with brasso and cotton. The ketchup would almost shine it but the surface needs a little elbow grease to make it uniform.

      I've heard of people using ketchup like that, but I haven't tried it myself. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing your info!

    This reminds me of my days in the lab polishing damaged £1 coins to a one quarter of a micron polished finished, all in the name of testing wetting angles for lead free solders 🤦🏻‍♂️😁, we should have used calibrated sample plates but they cost £££’S and quite frankly the coins worked just as well, so we spent the rest on beer 🍺 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣 (students hey 🙄)😜
