August is the most complex character on the show and Malte does a brilliant job showing us the layers and nuances of August.
Thank you for the great interview. Because most people, including myself, are focused on Wilmon (and rightly so!), Malte gets overlooked. He is a great actor (actually the whole cast is wonderful) and Malte gives a lot of nuance and depth to August. His selfishness (most of the time) and vulnerability (mostly with Sara) give him an interesting fragility and humanity. I like Malte but dislike August. He's right when he says all the characters are their own antagonist. That's the beauty of YR--nobody is perfect and everyone (including the side characters) are multidimensional. I will miss the show! I hope the idea of a YR reunion happens in the future.

Hearing Malte and the interviewer talk about August in such a beautiful manner just made me believe I need to rewatch the entire season again and notice August through this new lens.
I don’t dislike August, but he is very flawed. I didn’t like what he did or the way he manipulates those around him. Malte seems very sweet and kind.
I’ll miss the world of YR!

Might be an unpopular opinion but August has been my favourite character since Season 1. Because of said layers that Malte gave to him. He did an amazing job. Excited to see what happens with him in the finale. That vulnerability is what gives him a lot of humanity and that is what I like. But when you are a big Simon/Wille shipper I get why you just see an antagonist and douchebag in August.
Best phrase to describe August imo is "Fake it, until you make it"

@@alexissantanoAgreed! I honestly am completely indifferent to Wilmon but I would rewatch the whole thing for August. I am kinda excited to see what is in store for him in the last episode of S3...and for him and Sara... I have an idea how it all ends but I might be totally off...we'll see! When you have a character turning bad guy to layered human with flaws , you know you have a great actor at hand! Otherwise the character would just stay "plain villain"!
@@multishipper_heart definitely, I mean it's just one more day to go. As much as I hated him in Season 1, God I wish I could hug him in this one. Like the interviewer said, we can only hope for a good redemption arc for him. Man tomorrow couldn't come any sooner so we can finally discuss more😭
@@alexissantanoYeah, honestly couldn't agree more. I always had a feeling that August wasn't just bad to the core (even in S1). I really want him to have a good ending aka redemption arc. One day more and the wait is over!!! 🥳

Malte is such a fantastic actor. The fact that I wanted to punch August in the face in some moments and then feel sympathy for him in other moments even tho I don’t want to just shows how talented Malte is at acting.

Malte is spectacular in this role. It is interesting to see how different he is from the character he plays. The scene where August tells Wilhelm that Erik was involved in the initiation ritual was just so unbeievably well acted it bowled me over. Maltes eyes in that scene alone deserve an Emmy.

Fr. Sucks what happened in the finale too. But hopefully a spin-off focusing on just our future king and Sara is taking place too? Loved how they ended Wilmon but tbh wanted more than scrapes for Sara and August's relationship. I wish something else is in the works focusing on their characters.

Same🤣 I really want sara and August to get an endgame. I know he was very manipulative at first but i just wish we got more clarity about him and his future.
