Thanks for this awesome project tutorial. And thanks for adding how to calculate the measurements needed-to include adding seam allowance. The links you added to comments below sure helped refresh my brain for math.
A couple of hints, Leave an opening in the lining side seam to turn and also clip around your circle as it makes it easier to sew the base. Great idea.
Hi Jessali! What a beautiful job!! Congratulations!! Just one hint: never leave the open space on fabric (to turn inside out) on a curve seam, because it's too difficult to sew a curved line by hand. Always leave that open space in a straight place, in this case on the lateral. I learned this from my quilting teacher. Thank you for your vídeo! :o)
Roseli Gambini thank you for your kind advice! I've actually started doing this as I was annoyed with the finishing haha. Glad you enjoyed the video. X
When sewing the circles on, its much easier to put them on the bottom, you are less likely to get creases, it's a quilters thing, put your baggie on the bottom, the feed dogs will take up any slack, it really works.
Why oh why each tutorial is like a star is born!!! Kind of vibe. This is just turning ridiculous. Thousand of people like you do as well what you do!!!
Fast english is very difficult for me to understand, but i liked your technology. it seemed me easy to make such box.Thank you for your video and your nice voice, Jessalli!a pensioner Alfia from Russia
I suggest leaving the gap for turning on the straight side seam of the lining fabric. It will be much easier to close the gap on a straight seam than on a curved bottom edge.
Any woven fabric yes, but if it's thin it will need stabilising. If you're worried about stains and mould, maybe try using a showerproof or waterproof treated canvas?
Love the video, but the background music is distracting. (especially when it got really loud when you sped up the video) Your voice is so soft, it's hard to understand over the background noise. (I was wearing headphones, so, that may have contributed, but background music in never really a good idea)
Aww so nice to hear Karla. Yes PI - its a mathematical term to work out the size of the circle you'll need for what ever size basket you make. Here's a helpful link: www.mathsisfun.com/numbers/pi.html
Hi Ann, you can order fabrics here: jessalli.com/product-category/products/by-the-metre-fabrics/ But it depends how big you want your baskets? If you want them the same size as the one I did, you'd get 15 rectangles from every 1 metre. :)
Hi Romi, I don't have the measurements exactly, but just working it out now, the diameter of the circle bases would be 3.5" and the rectangles would be 11"x6" Hope that helps! Maybe make a simple mock up one first to check the sizing? :)
Hi Jean - PI - is where you can work out the diameter from the total circumference (length of your rectangle). Here's a great visual : setosa.io/ev/pi/ Hope that makes more sense?
I appreciate your effort, Jess, but it's all Chinese to me. I feel there has to be a simpler explantaion. I'm a teacher and a translator but this just puts me off. Sorry. Your fabric thingies are really cute, though.

Great video 👍🏼 can you use any cotton fabric ? Also how do you control mould or stains?
Any woven fabric yes, but if it's thin it will need stabilising. If you're worried about stains and mould, maybe try using a showerproof or waterproof treated canvas?

Love This vídeo!!!
Thanks Viviane! :D x
I like coz simpel and cute❤️

Cutest and easiest to sew...I'd think that we'd have to use thick fabric to help keep it up.
Thank you Soumya, yes or like I said at the beginning, you can use interfacing for more support. :)

I can't wait to make one for my baby! to put his tiny socks inside the drawer. and did you say something about pie?

thefabricexchange hi if you need any info just email me at sophia@jessalli.co.uk 😊
I would love to use your fabric but u don't know how to order. How much would I need for 20 baskets?
Hi Ann, you can order fabrics here: jessalli.com/product-category/products/by-the-metre-fabrics/ But it depends how big you want your baskets? If you want them the same size as the one I did, you'd get 15 rectangles from every 1 metre. :)

Pi!!! Are you serious!!! Lol
Haha yes susan, it's the only way you can accurately measure your circle, unless you just guess it? :)
This is cute
Thank you so much!
🌺🌺🌺🌺👍👍👍👍👍
Love your videos but the whistling background is very distracting for me.
Thanks Teresa, this video was filmed years ago - I've learnt a lot since then. :)

I'm not sure but it's just from the Google Music Library.
wow you are so good looking
Savitha Naveen haha thank you! ☺️
So cute..but... PI? The base circles are really not clear.
Hi Jean - PI - is where you can work out the diameter from the total circumference (length of your rectangle). Here's a great visual : setosa.io/ev/pi/ Hope that makes more sense?

I had trouble hearing you over the background music ;(
Paddy O'Bailey
Agreed !! Me too, mostly whistling. !!
I would love to follow your channel, were it not for the annoying muzak in the background, very annoying.
U r vry b'ful...😇
Deep Gagan aww thank you! 😊
Love these bins. Is the formula the diameter of basket fabric divided by 3.14 ?
Oops I mean Circumference divided by pi ?
Yes! To find the diameter of your circle. :)
For
It's.good but. Not to eady
HoT ChOCoLaTE TaNSeN sorry if you find it difficult! I promise practice makes perfect!
?😓
I've added a calculator to the description, it might help measure your circles and rectangles. :)
