    Excellent video! I've been cooking all sorts of peas, greens, and beans for 35 years. I've lived my life so far in Mississippi, and blackeyed peas are a staple. I was looking for fresh ideas, so I came to RUclips. I got sick and tired of all the videos that had 15 ingredients. Yours is absolutely perfect. Enough seasonings, but not too many. Great job!

    One thing I would do differently is add onion powder and garlic powder to the broth at the beginning! Then add fresh onion and garlic when I add my seasonings!

      You're welcome,
      I'm an oldschool cook! This is how I was taught...it makes a huge difference in the flavor and you can use less seasonings because of it.
      Happy New Year to you and your family♥️

    Yum! I prepare mine exactly the same way. I use better than bullion chicken for a little extra flavor and because it’s so salty I don’t usually add any additional salt. I serve it with cornbread rice and hot sauce

    I never liked black eyed peas in my life. But someone made some for my Moms Repass. When I tasted them, I almost fell out! The same person who made them the first time, made them again for my daughter’s baby shower yesterday. That’s when I said to myself, I’m going on RUclips to find out how to make them. And God guided me to you! I am so grateful that you made it look easy and they look sooooo good!!! I will try this recipe for my cookout this summer and let you know if they’re a hit. Which I know they will be! Lol… Thank you so much for sharing this. Hugs💞💞💞

    Hi there, this looks delicious and I bet it smell great. This is my first time cooking black eye peas, the package on my smoked turkey says the temp should be 165 I don't have a meat thermometer so how do I know it's done?

    • @CinnamonStoveKitchen
      @CinnamonStoveKitchen  Год назад

      Hi Margie
      Thank you
      If you're using packed smoke turkey from the grocery store it should already be cooked and packaged. So in reality you're not waiting for the meat to cook, you're waiting for the beans to cook. I hope I answered your question. Cheryl

    Great job. I have one question. If I want mines thicker would you recommend a table spoon or 2 of corn starch?

    • @CinnamonStoveKitchen
      @CinnamonStoveKitchen  2 года назад +2

      Yes add cornstarch...however don't over do it because if you're making a big pot which means leftovers, next day beans are normally much thicker and too much cornstarch will equal dry beans next day...
