First time ever making black eye peas and after following your instructions and using some other seasonings it came out EXCELLENT my wife came home and couldn’t stay out of the pot and I told her it was for New Years. Thanks and Happy New Year.
Lol! Thank you Yahmir♥️
Happy New Year to you and your family!
I cooked black-eyed peas w/smoked turkey for New Years and following your instructions it came out so good!! My husband and I can't stop eating it. Thank you for posting.
Thank you Jami♥️
Glad you and your family enjoyed them! Happy New Year!
I made it with smoked pork…DELICIOUS!
Sunday dinner for sure
Just came back to say the peas were a hit! No one believed it was my first time making them. Thanks again for sharing. Happy New Year 🎆
I'm glad your family enjoyed them, makes my heart happy❤
Happy New Year!
I literally was looking for this video specifically! Best recipe ever! Thank you!
Excellent video! I've been cooking all sorts of peas, greens, and beans for 35 years. I've lived my life so far in Mississippi, and blackeyed peas are a staple. I was looking for fresh ideas, so I came to RUclips. I got sick and tired of all the videos that had 15 ingredients. Yours is absolutely perfect. Enough seasonings, but not too many. Great job!
I feel the way I clicked on so many videos to many ingredients came here perfect ingredients and look so good definitely making this
I did this recipe in my crockpot. Started them about 8:00am made the cornbread about 3:30pm.
Thank you for sharing! I’m making mine with a smoked turkey leg. I haven’t added the beans but it’s already smelling delicious
I’m about to use this recipe. Thanks for coming through for those of us who don’t have a crock pot 🙌🏾 I don’t eat them, but I’m making them for my family. I’ll let you know how they like them. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome❤
i used this recipe yesterday. It was simply delightful. Thank you.
You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for this video. 1st time for me and your directions are the best. You are so educational and timely while gental. Appreciate you... Happy New Year 🎉
Thank you! Happy New Years!🥳🎉♥️🙏🏾
How much sugar did you add?
So easy but so delicious. Going to try using my instapot.
I made it. It turned out so good thank you.
Ooooo that looks good!
One thing I would do differently is add onion powder and garlic powder to the broth at the beginning! Then add fresh onion and garlic when I add my seasonings!
Lawd looks yummy and delicious 😋 great cook right here
Thank you
No need to soak black eyed peas don’t take long to cook only pinto beans
There’s More than one way to make something
Thank goodness, someone other than ms Gina that cooks their meat first. Thank you so much for this. Happy New Years to you and your family.
You're welcome,
I'm an oldschool cook! This is how I was taught...it makes a huge difference in the flavor and you can use less seasonings because of it.
Happy New Year to you and your family♥️
@@CinnamonStoveKitchen yes ma’am, same here, old school was and still is something that I really appreciate, in my late forties and I’m noticing that the older I get the more I see my granny (God rest her soul), what an awesome bunch she raised. Good stock as they say. And you are wonderful, I’m so thankful that I found your food channel, I will be using these recipes.
Yes, same here🙏🏾
you can also make it with cut up ham bone from a... well... ham. chop up and sear some bacon in the bottom of the pot first for more heart disease... i mean FLAVOR!
Happy new year 🎉 awesome video you kept it simple and to the point 😀 👍 love that thanks 😊 for sharing!
You're welcome! Happy New Year!
Thank you, just what I was looking for👍👍
Look delicious
Thank you that looks so good and delicious. I love the recipe.
Looks scrumptious, I will be using your recipe😊
You just changed my life
I love it thanks keep the videos coming 😊
i will add smoked sausage to mine🤤
Going to try this onelooks delicious, thank you.
Yum! I prepare mine exactly the same way. I use better than bullion chicken for a little extra flavor and because it’s so salty I don’t usually add any additional salt. I serve it with cornbread rice and hot sauce
My first time trying these. Fingers crossed.
You got this❤
Looks delicious! Trying now🙂
Thank you! Enjoy! Dont forget to let the meat cook separately first, that's where most of the flavor is coming from. Let me know how they turn out♥️
I love your instructions. Another great video
Thank you Shirley♥️
This is how my momma makes hers....
Thank you for this recipe, just made it and ohhh my is it delicious. First time making this dish and I'm hooked 😋
You're welcome Cohleen❤
So glad to hear you enjoyed them
Daaam. Making this tonight.
Enjoy!
Look yummy! When did you add the oil?
Hi,
When you add the meat and liquid...
🤤
That's all I use is smoked turkey
Looks good, but you only have to cook the peas for an hour or so🤔???🤔
Hey do you have a recipe so I can see how much ingredients you are using
Hey Vivian,

I left when you said slap your mama. Because there is a spice called slap. Yo mamainstead of use in the pepper flakes use a little slap ya 😅 mama😂
I never liked black eyed peas in my life. But someone made some for my Moms Repass. When I tasted them, I almost fell out! The same person who made them the first time, made them again for my daughter’s baby shower yesterday. That’s when I said to myself, I’m going on RUclips to find out how to make them. And God guided me to you! I am so grateful that you made it look easy and they look sooooo good!!! I will try this recipe for my cookout this summer and let you know if they’re a hit. Which I know they will be! Lol… Thank you so much for sharing this. Hugs💞💞💞
Looks sooo good!! I'll be making these tomorrow. I like my broth thick too. I will eat them over rice and the thick broth kind of clings to the rice.
Simple and delicious🎉. Thanks❤.
I’m here cause I have no crockpot. It’s Dec 30th 2022. 🎉🎉🎉 I’ll tell y’all how it goes next year!
I also prefer onion powder instead of real onions
You made it very simple for me thank you❤
I made it on new years and OMG! Love love love
it. Bout to do it again
Thank you for this recipe. I think black eyed peas are so important to the American culinary identity
I didn't see the step where you added the oil. Please tell
Glad you don't use disgusting onions. Powder is good
Quick question: In case I want to use Chicken Stock how much should I use?
Follow the measurements on the package. Add extra liquid if needed
I tried this recipe for Father's day. Thank you! Thank you and thank you! I had so many compliments on these beans. I'm trying out the pinto beans this coming Sunday.
Dam that food looks like it taste delicious 😅
Thank you❤
This recipe promises to be solid in flavor! Can hardly wait to make it! Much thanks from Chicago 2023!
Looks good. Looking forward to trying it.
DAYUM!!!!....YUMMMMMS!!!!!🤤
Hi there, this looks delicious and I bet it smell great. This is my first time cooking black eye peas, the package on my smoked turkey says the temp should be 165 I don't have a meat thermometer so how do I know it's done?
Hi Margie
Thank you
If you're using packed smoke turkey from the grocery store it should already be cooked and packaged. So in reality you're not waiting for the meat to cook, you're waiting for the beans to cook. I hope I answered your question. Cheryl
How much smoked turkey do you use for 2 cans? 1/2 pound?
Hi,
One small leg or three cuts if you're using pieces.
Girl you can Cook💯
Thank you Veronica❤

@@CinnamonStoveKitchen yes ma'am
@@veronicafriend2855 Glad to have you as a subscriber...
Thanks
Great job. I have one question. If I want mines thicker would you recommend a table spoon or 2 of corn starch?
Yes add cornstarch...however don't over do it because if you're making a big pot which means leftovers, next day beans are normally much thicker and too much cornstarch will equal dry beans next day...
@@CinnamonStoveKitchen Oh, ok. Didn't know that. Advice appreciated greatly!👍
Great recipe!!!! Thank you!!!!
Thank you
