One small thing I will say is that content library seems to change drastically depending on the language. If I was wanting to watch a video at beginner Japanese level (think content for children learning language basics), FluentU actually has a lot more content there than LingoPie, which I wouldn't recommend until people get a little more comfortable with Kanji and hiragana/katakana. That being said the additional structure around the content itself is much more fleshed out on LingoPie so I'd still recommend that once you're wanting to get to grip with a wider variety of content.
I used FluentU several years ago and found it exactly as you described. Not bad but a little dry. I am interested to try out Lingopie with the newest language that I’m learning. Seems like a good way to learn some current culture, as well.
Great description and review. I really like the concept that lingopie has going since I am a visual learner and their platform seems to be more along the immersion type which is super helpful and keeps your attention span going, great review!
Thank you for reviewing these two programs. This review is very helpful. I'm currently studying Spanish but having difficulty moving along the learning continuum. I've tried several programs, but haven't found that magic one yet.
Hi John, your link in the description for FluentU says first 4 months free. When I click on the link, I don’t see that offer. Just an annual or monthly plan with a 14 day trial. Do we need to enter a code somewhere? Thanks 🙏
Both programs seems to have great benefits. To me, LingoPie is the superior program. The language help and monetary savings is huge for people looking to improve their new language game! Great video, appreciate your attentiveness to giving your viewers honest material.
I had never heard of FluentU (but of course had heard of DuoLingo, Babbel, LingoPie, Pimsler, and Rosetta Stone) Now I understand why :-) I really like your reviews, and agree on your comments about DuoLingo and Babbel (I use them both).
Great comparison, I think these learning via content apps are good but sometimes its hard to find content that you really like. I'm trying to learn French and find that conversation practice is the most useful to me rather but the listening practice of these apps are nonetheless very useful! I will check em out.
But what about the asian languages? I didn’t find the pinyin in Chinese and also no transcription for Japanese. Overall it’s an interesting app, but I found some issues when checking the asian languages.
Based on this video, I subscribed to LingoPie. I'm a very early beginner and am looking for content that matches my level. At first glance, I don't see a way to sort content by level. I also tried out Dreaming Spanish and while their beginner content is boring at least they have a way to sort content by level.
From the video, LingoPie seems to be the winner. The grammar help and in-depth evaluations would benefit any level of language learner! Great video! Thank you!
Thank you very much ! I can't say whether the translations are better one LR or Lingopie but at least, the main feature which is watching a program with double subtitles is free with LR !@@TestPrepInsight
It's much too difficult to find good learning sources for Íslenska! Requests have been into Duolingo for years and I've seen Icelanders volunteer to help with it but for some reason they just aren't doing it. ☹
I agree with you that which language you are learning can matter for some apps, but generally speaking, not for these two. Because they leverage third party video content and layer on learning tools and features, it's less of an issue here. I don't think which language you're learning matters for these two programs.

I have recently begun studying German. It has always been a dream vacation destination of mine to visit Germany and Austria someday.
Nice! Thanks for watching

Good point! Thanks for sharing :)
Note: Netflix is required. Without it you can't use it.
I assume you are talking about FluentU because I have lingopie and not Netflix and it works great

Totally agree! Good luck and let us know what you think

LingoPie seems like a much stronger program. I'm hoping they add more languages soon.
They seem to be adding more slowly all the time

I’ve been seeing a push for Lingopie recently. Good to see you covering it.
Thanks! We really liked it while using it

Thank you for your LingoPie vs Fluentu language learning program review. I respect your opinion.
I want to learn French because I studied abroad there. I fell in love with the country and I find the language so pretty.
For sure. It really is a pretty language
Well done LingoPie vs FluentU review> Thank you.
Another great review 👍
Thank you!

Yes their list of languages is still small, but growing
Great review
LingoPie seems very solid. Thank you for the overview!
No problem, thanks for watching!
I think it may depend on the language pair. Lingopie doesn't do a good job with Japanese (see my review above), while FluentU does.
@@TestPrepInsight Please do Lingopie vs Lingq

That’s a tough one, like them both!
Have you ever thought of making a tier list?
We have! Check them out. Best apps for each language
From the video, LingoPie seems to be the winner. The grammar help and in-depth evaluations would benefit any level of language learner! Great video! Thank you!
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! Do you know how many languages Lingopie offers?
Currently nine I believe. I think they keep adding new ones though.
Very helpful! Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for all your work.
Could you compare Lingopie with the "Netflix language reactor" add-on?
Never heard of it - will look into it. Thanks!

Icelandic. Difficult to find, just Pimsleur as far as I know. Does any program have Romany?
Two very niche languages there. No sure about Romany...thanks for watching!
It's much too difficult to find good learning sources for Íslenska! Requests have been into Duolingo for years and I've seen Icelanders volunteer to help with it but for some reason they just aren't doing it. ☹
How do I hear my voice in Lingopie. Wasting time trying to figure put the basics..
Thanks for this comparison! Very informative
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video!
Team Lingopie! 🧡 Love the program, I've learned a lot, since subscribed a year ago
thanks for watching and sharing!
Great comparison. I think I’d go with LingoPie.
Thank you!
I sent a ticket five days ago with no reply
Thanks, this helps
No problem!
Does the language matter? Some platforms excel at Spanish for example, but Russian content is only so so.
I agree with you that which language you are learning can matter for some apps, but generally speaking, not for these two. Because they leverage third party video content and layer on learning tools and features, it's less of an issue here. I don't think which language you're learning matters for these two programs.
Wanting to get the discount coupon promo for Lingopie you talk about please.
given the similarities i guess i'd choose the company with better content which sounds like Lingopie. thanks!
thanks!!
lingopie is good to learn french?
I think so, yes. It's a great supplemental tool
I want to learn Spanish as I’m hoping to travel around South America in a couple of years. LingoPie looks superior of the two.
Nice! Good you're starting early
I liked an subbed
I actually like Lingopie I just hope they get more movies and series
Did you do the Netflix integration?
I want to learn Spanish. So I can talk with my coworkers and possibly take a trip to Puerto Rico.
wanna learn espanol, porque i like spain, culture and la comida
:)
I want to learn German so I can visit one of my closest friends and impress her with some fluency!
Nice! Good luck!
Spanish, for the most beautiful girl in the world!
haha nice!
I would like to learn Twi because it’s my dad’s native tongue and I don’t want the language being passed down to end because of me lol
I'm not sure which programs support Twi - maybe Pimsleur?
@@TestPrepInsight I think you’re right. I saw it offered there
Lingo pie it is
German - I want to visit :)
