I eventually payed most of it myself though. They had rankings and i believe i was top 50 of king of the hill time at some point. atleast i played the fucking objective!

This is the game from where I started gaming. Just got my first PC back in 2000, bought the CD randomly, never knew this going to be a start of a life long passion for gaming.
I remember how epic this game felt as a kid being sort of nonlinear and letting you run all over the huge map. Even moreso around the Pyramids. A bit like Operation Flashpoint around the same time but less demanding.

Man I played this in elementary school as well as DF2. I played Black Hawk Down and DF Extreme all the way until I was a young man. We’ll probably 22/23. I played them way past their expiration date. I’ve always had fun creating maps and having giant battles. I picked up DF2 again recently just for the heck of it. The voxel system was amazing. Such a pivotal series of games that gave rise to the likes of BF2 and similar semi open world FPS games. Man I remember me and my friends crating maps and hosting them online and then communicating to each other through AIM to join and coordinate and play. The Voice Over Net was horrid back then. 30 years on this earth, I still want to play it from time to time.
I also played these throughout my elementary, middle and high school years. Joint Operations was the game that really got me into my first online community. It was back when tournaments would be hosted where two sides would play against each other in campaigns. I was even fortunate enough to become part of the administrative team that made a lot of it work, and I was only 14. It's genuinely sad that Novalogic only exists as an empty shell of a company now. It was such a huge part of my childhood.

I remember playing multi-player and in the world chat people would say to press alt + F4 to get a certain weapon. That's when I learned what Alt + F4 does, but it still took me a few times of getting kicked out to figure it out lol
I don't remember this mission to be this easy because whenever I kill the very first enemy or be detected, all enemies throughout the parts of the map would spam out and I would be easily gunned down from nowhere if I don't hide myself
I had this mission on a Demo CD from (I guess) PC Gamer. I must have been 11 or 12 years old. I remember playing this mission repeatedly in the morning before having to run to catch the bus to school. 2000! The time my Dad unplugged the PC on NYE to prevent the Millenium Bug!!

Aaahhh, best game ever. Jane Schmuck here, this game ruled my life for a couple of years. I'd bounce the baby on my lap run up and knife the enemy and shoot the grenades from the MM1 perfectly through the windows of the abandoned buildings. The rocket launcher was shot off immediately. My husband created all the maps for Schmucks Maps, those were fun times.
I used to take out the bazzoka and blowup the helicopter nearby before we landed, the radio operator would go insane "mayday mayday mayday we're going down" and I'd get a mission failed, so I rinse and repeat of course and take out the bazzoka ! XD
My dads friend was the top player in the Legion clan during 2000-2002. He claims that he received 2500 dollars monthly just to play for this clan. Since he was drunk when he told me this, I failed to get his full nickname, but it was something along the lines of "Barkas" or a nickname with the letter B in it. He was the best in my country, Kazakhstan, winning local tournaments whilst still "studying" in the university. Apparently, he even went on to become one of the best in the world. Fellas, I need your insights about this player, since I am in an utter disbelief and shock that I am familiar with a legend as him.
