Neb were the Coaches Poll champs. Since 1936, the AP had been the more esteemed poll and it was awarded to the rightful owner, the MI Wolverines.
      Check out who had
      the better defense,
      the stronger strength of schedule,
the better performance against Baylor and CO. ie which team allowed TDS, which team didn't?
the number of times each team had to go to overtime against a horrible opponent to keep there perfect season on track,
faced a QB that didn't wilt when it mattered. Hint ( the season passing avg agains neb was 189, Manning had 134. A bunch of nobodies showed up but Manning didn't).

From ashes to moderate success... Times have changed and passed NU by. Too many other well funded, well coached teams with same quality of facilities located in cities more desirable to young athletes who want to play close to home. The Big 10 is a much stronger conference than the old Big 8 where two schools always dominated and the other 6 were weak. Lack of in state elite athletes a big problem for Big Red and harvesting them from California, Texas, Florida will be a huge barrier to ultimate success. Having said this, Scott Frost is obviously a wonderfully gifted guy so if anyone can do it, he probable will have the best chance. I think a 9 win season will be quite the accomplishment given the competition. OSU, UM, Penn St, Iowa, etc are all recruiting and playing excellent FB. Heck, even Purdue and Northwestern are strong. These times, they are a changing.

What made the Huskers great in their day. Here is the secret sauce: FARM KIDS!. The Nebraska Cornhuskers dominated at a time when the majority of their linemen and smash mouth heroes came from the weight room of life on family farms. These kids would go from 6 man football playing both ways to the largest stage in the State. As they grew up over the years, these Corn fed Nebraska boys were lifting hay bails, sacks of feed and doing gut busting manual labor daily. These kids ate wholesome meals of beef and vegetables, not Fast Food. On the football field no kid from any other way of life can in any way match the raw power developed over a childhood of hard work performed daily on a farm and the good nutrition provided by the country cooking of a Nebraska mother. Thanks MOM!!!! At RockyMountainRachSupplies.com we support all of the families of the family farms in Nebraska, and the small town football programs across the State who put the Huskers on the map originally. Nebraska has tradition, let us not forget who taught it to us. You got it this year Huskers and we support you all the way!!!!! GO BIG RED, and Thank you Bancroft, Red Cloud, Blue Hill, Pender, Wisner, Elkhorn, Fremont, St.Edward, Albion, Columbus, Omaha, Lincoln, Ogalala, Chadron, McCook, Gering, Broken Bow, Minden, Beatrice, and the list goes on. Small Town Nebraska built this house in Lincoln and this year RockyMountainRanchSupply.com looks forward to the Huskers bringing it home!

A tip of the hat to the entire UCF team, all the way from the 4th-string punter, to the AD, They all realized that Scott was there to turn their program around, & plant the seeds of success, but not to stay there... It's JUST this simple. There was NO other coach for Nebraska, & there was NO other job for Sco... make that COACH FROST... After all the coaching turmoil & discourse of the last 20+ years that has gone on since Coach O retired, I'm GLAD that Coach Osbourne gets to see things set BACK on the RIGHT track in Lincoln.... & to Big Red Nation, GO AHEAD & dream, yell, shout, & cheer for that 1st year NC, but remember, it wasn't ALL smiles, & roses the first few seasons right after coach Devaney retired... Personally, win, lose, or draw, Coach Frost IS the man for the job, & I KNOW that the results WILL COME, even if they don't come right off the bat.... GO "supercharged" BIG RED!!!

We've been doing alright at recruiting for the last 20 years. Problem has been terrible coaching hires.

ZenNaster Frost on recruiting visit...... hi my name is Scott Frost and I’m the head coach of the Nebraska cornholers and I would like for you to come play with me! We have lots to offer. We learn to work on tractors, we feed the cows and chickens, and on weekends we watch the corn grow! We have sent 2 maybe 3 players to the pros in the last 50 years and 1 out of every 100 players graduate with farming degrees! Sounds real nice doesn’t it. Lmao!!!

He already looks like he regrets his decision to leave UCF. Worst decision of his life to leave Orlando. UCF will win a national championship before Nebraska will.

Since UCF will never even be considered as one of those chosen for the College Football Playoff, we know UCF will NEVER win a national title. You're 12-0 and ranked 12th in the nation. That should tell you all you need to know. Good luck to the UCF program going forward.

Funniest comment on RUclips! You, sir, should have your own stand-up comedy show. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

MrHooskerdu1 UCF will be considered for the playoff next year in 2018. It’s also inevitable that UCF will be in the power 5 soon. There’s a reason that Frost didn’t make the decision to go home until the week of the game. The majority of the team is returning. Nebraska is living in the past. They were once a great program, but good luck getting kids to move to the middle of nowhere in Nebraska. Florida kids won’t do it. Nebraska won’t be able to get the talent needed to compete with the big dogs every year. They’ll have a few good runs though.

Richard Dybdahl Just being 100% honest, Orlando over Lincoln is the easiest sell to a recruit that there is. Orlando has exponential growth potential, while Lincoln and the whole state of Nebraska has already hit its peak a long time ago.

You must not know Nebraska. Our cities are booming and unemployment is far lower here than in Florida. Sure, Orlando has more tourist traps but good luck beating a Nebraska steak.
