- I was just going to trim the video to have it at hand for future study. And then I got carried away with Premiere. Hope Jack doesn't mind.
Btw if you're reading this it means you're a curious person so may I convince you to be curious for a bit longer and check out a fellow Vulf fan's band? It's punk rock! It's in Spanish! Adventurous!
BASURA || Nube Negra - • BASURA || Nube Negra [...
That's one of the longest times I've heard an audience clap to a beat without drifting terribly. Vulf fans are special too!
I was in the crowd. 90% of the audience were bassists.
This was some kind of sect reunion of which Joe is the supreme leader.
there's a metronome at the entrance and if they're out of time theyre not allowed enter
Joe is just so clean and precise with his timing, it's a real treat to watch!
@@Tak745 I mean who better really to be the modern supreme leader of all bassists, dude is like a fender j in human form
Some say that if you attached a generator to his head, Joe Dart could power the whole United States for a year with a single playthrough of Dean Town.
Then Beastly would power half of the world
matrix3509 I don’t know what that means but I agree
zion lee he’s moves his head so much back and forward that the motion could power a generator for the whole of United States

That editing was so good i thought this was a vulfpeck video
no its the genuine low quality of a mobile phone in the dark !
This is not a vulfpeck video??!
Flux_Time samee 🤣🤣🤣
@@jimfonzie2887 nahhh he edited it from this live ruclips.net/video/dDL5k9LpZ9w/видео.html
@@jimfonzie2887 can't you see the camera movements?
Ghost note king....and that groove is so tight.
I think this is honestly the first time I've seen this dude slap on his bass
You should see Sky Mall then
@@mafirasyaharani7836 i always forget about sky mall, you rite
@@guessingguy7865 such a gold masterpiece
1 for 1 dimaggio?
@@guessingguy7865 love to see a polite reply from a youtube user
Cheers friend

Joe was so fast that he messed up Cory Wong.
I would mess up too
I guess you could say he
Got it Wong
We all mess up...
cory WRONG
Every other bassist: I want to play little 32nd note triplet, better switch to slap.
Joe Dart: I want to play 32nd note triplets, better switch to fingerstyle.
Lmao
Ha
That 16th note btw
@@reyhanmahafizh3494 I mean it's doubletime so it's basically a 32nd note from the original tempo in terms of raw speed
@@Judeisbad The beat length is irrelevant though. You could play very fast quarter notes at a high enough tempo.
Whenever I hear the words "Go Joe!" I know something great is about to happen.
Crazy to think Joe Dart invented the bass.
crazy to think a lot of people of a certain age range think that's true.............................
@@thewomble1509 Crazy to think that people make assumptions and don't understand jokes.
@@vgbondarev i love how people drop random comments and think that makes them joke writers. Oh and I stand by my comment.
@@thewomble1509 It's an inside joke in the community. lighten up or suck wood.
@@vgbondarev Muppet.
really enjoy that this solo style is very indicative of a groove-oriented player versus a soloist ripping into some melodic adventure. There's still great musicianship but it's very grounded like an upright player solo featuring a chord progression in a jazz setting.
True. Actually it's not really a solo. He's still playing a bassline on repeat. It's all in the variations
That main riff sounds like it became lost my treble long ago
I think it's an evolution of this riff, he's done it more solos on Beastly.
Tightness of a clapping audience indicates there is a great band on stage
It also indicates a musically inclined audience
@@idk7165 that was the point of what OP said.
Go ahead, tell me you understand and were being sarcastic too 😪
Most jazz fusion, prog rock, and prog metal audiences will be able to do that, almost everyone at those shows are musicians and most likely music nerds as well.
Gotta love the 1000% digital zoom, almost looks like an original Vulf video
If you motiontracked his head, you'd have a seizure.
Scarily accurate editing, could pass as a official vulf video
This inspired me to pick up my bass and enter on a deep depression because I can't play even 10% of this
Same. Mainly played guitar all my life, with bass in the background, now I just wanna play bass like this and I can't and it sucks. Haha.
My inner bassplayer depression set in too. Can overcome it by being grateful to experience this though... Sooooo Awesome!
All these dudes went to school for music. Get a good bass teacher from a conservatory or university
10% ! Great ! 😅
This inspired me to PUT DOWN my bass and enter a deep depression because I can't even fathom how one can play 1% of this
Joe Dart inspired me to quit the bass.
F
F
let me guess he stole your wife from this solo
Hilarious 😂
felt like that to when i realized I will never be on his level
Thank you so much for posting this! Joe is amazing, and this shows him in his glory. Great inspiration for an aspiring bass player.
I never liked bass solos as a basisit because i always thought it was our job to fulfil the melody and that was it until this funky man showed up
Versatility. I love to go back and forth with bassists on some FOnk
Stu Hamm or Claypool don't rate a mention?
@@jamesrudland183 Or Edwards, Watt-Roy, Johnson, Flea, Scheff,Clarke, Berlin, Hamm.................
@@thewomble1509 Pastorius?
@@johnk6598 Definitely!
When someone tells you thumbs down is a "wrong" slap technique, show them this video
No technique is "wrong". The only technique that's right is the one that works for you. Me personally, I play with more of a 'Marcus Miller'-style slap technique, but that's jut me.
Joe so dank he makes white people clap in unison.
Joe Dank
The fact that Joe is white make this even funnier
ROFL!!!
I assure you that at least 75% of the crowd is musicians
haha white people blakc peopel
Its like Jaco is back. Love Joe’s playing. Such a great band.
Joe is not a bad bassist. But he is not Jaco
@@mcos6 joe could definitely play like jaco, but his favourite music/role is the side dude bass player (as opposed to jaco the frontman/writer), as he has said in interviews.
@@EpicStuffMan1000 I think that people who say that Joe Dart can play like Jaco (or even come close) have a very shallow understanding of who Jaco was as a musician and the level he reached with not only his actual playing but his conceptualization of the role of the bass in music and his understanding of music itself. Yes, Joe can play some funky grooves and make the crowd go wild with his bass solos, but he has not achieved a mastery of the bass, or contributed to any sort of musical innovation on the bass, to the level that Jaco did during his lifetime. I am not saying in any way that Joe is a bad bass player. He is very skilled at what he does and he is the perfect bass player for a band like Vulfpeck. In this sense he is a great musician; he fits his musical context very well. I just think that people don't always realize exactly what they're saying when they say things like "Jaco is back". I don't mean to come across as a Jaco fan boy. He was not a perfect man or a perfect musician. I just think that, yeah, Joe is pretty groovy. But to compare him to Jaco would be like comparing Slash to Allan Holdsworth. Are they both good? Yeah. Could Slash ever hope to reach the level of musical understanding that Allan does? Maybe if he devoted the rest of his life to doing so, and even then probably not... although I respect Slash for what he can do, he is not on the same level. So it is with Joe and Jaco.
@@mcos6 I think they're just talking about the style of this solo. Which, come on, this is VERY Jaco-esque!
@@mcos6 your coming across as very snobby and if somebody doesnt agree with you then they obviously dont understand to the level you do smh. People always talk about Jaco and his influence yet every bassist I talk to about influences mention other bassists before Jaco. The ones I hear the most is Larry Graham, Flea, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, John Entwistle, and Cliff Burton. Jaco was very influential to a much more narrow crowd. At the end of the day, music is art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is no best, just preference of those experiencing that art. I'm a bassist aswell and I personally prefer the playing of Larry Graham and Tony Franklin over Jaco or Victor Wooten. I dont care if it's simple or complex, I care about how it sounds and feels. Complex/technical = harder to play, it doesnt necessarily mean better music. Music isn't a competition, it is art.
2:00 don't think i didn't notice that, Joe!
You lost your treble long ago too?
Been listening to this on repeat for a month now. Always brings a smile on my face. :)
What makes joe great is his timing and muting which is spot on
2:27 sounds like RHCP's "Get Up & Jump" main bass line
VectorBlack13 flea was a big influence on him. He even uses his slap technique. So your hear in his solos a lot of flea shit. Also jaco, stuart zender and many others of course hahaha
glad some people actually know about rhcp's early stuff. its really good and not many people know about it. im sure joe does
Yes!
it's actually one of rhcp's b-sides, it's mostly the same thing, I think it's called instrumental 1 or instrumental 2
Well, Flea is his idol.
The first part of where he slaps is so sick! The triplet is insane. Also, the way he suddenly stops for a second and then continues his main slap riff is mental!
I really consider this to be one of his best solos, it would mothafucking walk if it could.
that pop tone dang so crisp
and be honest, cory's entrance always the best too
one of the tightest audience claps i have ever heard ahhah thats vulfpeck fans for u
I think his best Beastly solo was live at Emo's 10/09/17 (ruclips.net/video/rlzyFxqWYaY/видео.html). It's amazing. The buildup before the band goes back into the groove after the solo is intense.
I can't thank you enough for linking that
AB is 45 min from where we live, I could feel the vibe of that concert in our house.
everytime i'm high, i'd watch this video and imagine myself within the crowd because that shit was amazing
Yeah at this point to me this guy is Joe "Beastly" Dart
Like bro HE IS A BEAST
man their shows are just them vibing on stage for a few hours
Nothing but sauce.
this inspired me to pick up my bass
and pack it up to keep in the store room forever
One of the greatest bass players of all time, already.
Looks like you had way too much fun editing :p I especially like 1:47
Perfect music/meme hybrid, I'll take note and listen to more of this amazing artists!
Everybody gangsta until Joe starts SLAPPIN
Nobody
Joe: WIGGLE TIME
Holy mo....thats best fingerstyle...wonderful timing...really dig your bass playing...👍👍👍...and your slapping style
Joe is a freak of nature. Just learned about him today. Love the internet.
Song in the description is very cool, thank you for recommending it man
I literally said out loud "holy shit" at the end of this solo. Thanks for sharing!
I love the motion tracking. :D
Absolutely unbelievable
The original stream was gold but this should be platinum
This solo is what got me into vulf
One of my fav bassist
3:11 you can hear Cory try to match it but he just don't got the god energy like Joe does. He's close and I respect him for trying, better luck next time Cory
Kool to see how it has evolved
I got that reference haha
This is some incredible footage. Well done
Watch out Flea, a new master has taken over. Also as good as the best bass line ever: Burning Fown The House!
The clapping of the audience somehow adds a lot to the song
The bass, incredible💯
I love how gives a salute while killing that bass solo
I just discover them and Joe Dart.. Wtf blew my mind, so tight god damn !
Lors of freaks can play fast. Only a few have :
1 - a real sound signature
2 - musicality all along
This gentleman has it all. I won’t quit bass for this reason but I know where I stand on Joe Dart’s ladder :-))
this is totally hypnothic!
BASS IS AWESOME!!!
I love how he moves his head like a bird
When the band came back in I lost my mind
Craaaazy good!
Joe Dart has fills to pay the bills
Joe Dart's bass solos make me want to play Toe Jam and Earl on Sega Genesis.
AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
Joe Dart is my spirit animal
This makes me happy
¡Qué manejo del bajo, por Dios!
Ok so this is my favourite bass solo now
@3:13 he plays too fast for Cory Wong to keep up, holy shit.
Ok lets be honest being non extreme technical and focus on your groove and musicality/taste its just a choice and not lack of technique. I dont understand why ppl and especially people that arent musicians bring up the idiotic point of whos better and the player that they reffer most of the time is some kind of a freak with imense technique like pino, or victor wooten, laboriel, malaman, richard bona or whoever. They re all great and believe me they ve got more respect to this dude than you have. My head is going up and down? I feel the groove? I wanna dance? Thats enough for me. (Sorry my english suck hard)
This reminds me when jaco did his solo and weather report took a break off stage
LONG LIVE JOE DART!!!!
I want a VR recreation of Joe Dart’s head bob
he's going carzyyy
joe dart: plays literally one note repeatedly
the whole crowd: thats so fuckin lit m8
Crowds easily pleased....... 😄😄😎
Damn, this cat really does it all. Joe Dart, whew!
진짜....베이스 자지러지게 멋있따 ㅠㅠㅠ
groooove!!!nice!
I came for the video description and I stay for the Bass Solo..
One day I will witness Joe Dart and Les Claypool live. One day I will. Either in this or another universe but I will.
I want to see the universe where Joe and Chris Squire share a stage. Hell throw John Wetton and Tony Levin up there too. In the meantime I'd settle for Vulf taking a hard turn and covering something like The Gates of Delirium or Starless, akin to BadBadNotGood covering Tom Sawyer.
Hey if you are in Europe and waiting for them to return they are going to a bunch of European jazz festivals in summer 2024
give joe a damn signature already
WHAT was that maneuver at 1:00 :D
he was throwing the salt over his shoulder for luck.
Pushin the shades back up his nose lol
The old 'bob and adjust' move. Classic Dart.
for real tho, I think its something to do with his in-ear monitor, maybe taking out if the others were talking backstage.
He threw an invisible pick
Joe is so Joe he makes root notes sound cool
Awesome groove bass solo
Joe is One Thousand feet tall.
They say that Joe Dart himself violates the first and second law of thermodynamics, as he's a perpetual groove machine.
Can we just say, that s fuc..... awsooommme !!!
Some les claypool vibe !!!
Like WOW!!!!!!
I could play like that too if I had that good of coca!
Did he use this solo for "Lost My Treble Long Ago" on their 2018 album?
The edits are fucking great
1:00 he fixes his shades 😎
I think Larry Graham would be proud. These kids can fucking play!
He's got some insane neck muscles.
remember folks its about the zooms and pans you don't add
wouldnt be a vulf video without
