thank you for showing how crowded safaris have become, I will just watch from my computer
Actually, due to covid, some parks have lost swaths of revenue and have thusly had to give up their lands to farmers and developers (hence the death of the animals). We need MORE tourists there to keep the lands preserved, as odd as that seem.
Lion keeping watch while the other dumps a load...Female tourist in the background says:"Pheeww it stinks"!! 😂😂😂

Hi man! Do you think just the 200-500mm would be enough for safari? Or is 200mm often too much?
Yes, a 200-500 is perfectly reasonable. The safari guides bring you close enough to use such a lens. I'd pack a 200-500 and then a 70-200 as a mid-range option (landscapes, if too close to the subject, etc.)
Blackie and Lipstick looked amazing. Their manes were almost fully black. How bad did that lion scat smell?

That's mad to see that many vehicles in a circle round these predators how are they supposed behave and ignore vehicles and people crowded round them. For heavens sake cop yourselves on
It's true. I now live in Ethiopia where I've left the insane crowds behind. There's little infrastructure here for wildlife viewing and so I have the opportunity to participate in responsible and eco-friendly wildlife encounters.

Lipstick and Blackie were such beautiful dark maned male lions. Lion research has shown lionesses prefer black maned males. They have more testosterone and are better fighters, they are stronger and they heal faster. Females need strong males to protect the cubs from nomadic males for the first two years of the youngsters lives.
Thank you for that comment!

Too bad the tourists are destroying the wildlife natural habitat
Tourists are actually helping in conservation. Without them, they would have been destroyed
If u compare a lion to tiger. Tiger are aggressive to his territory even people who just tourist would kill him. Lion are aggressive if there's a male lion who wants to steal his territory.
Perhaps some improvements on touring routines could be done. But it's because of these tourists and explorers that there's so much awareness about these rare creatures. Even the locals around the areas are seeing the benefits and many are joining the conservation work. Otherwise, they'd be constantly competing with them for territory and hunting them to extinction. When people lose interest, no one cares enough to conserve them. That's when poachers move in. We're so worried about the numbers now that everyone is preoccupied with the virus and few explorers are keeping track of them. The money raised from tourists also goes into conservation efforts.
Dolphine Achonga that’s a very interesting point and a pertinent analysis too

All those cars is a bit disturbing.
I understand the concerns.
Do you know about the crisis right now? No tourism in East Africa due to covid means no money. No money means farmers can pay off rangers to graze and even destroy land.
So, while not optimal, tourism keeps these parks in place and protected.
And this is to say nothing of your home and my home. We both have homes that encroached on natural lands and have destroyed, indirectly, the lives of wild animals.
We all have a role in both protection and we have all had a role in the destruction of the planet. It's all about balance and a proper back and forth.
Thank you again for your concern.
@@TravelingTeachr I don't why you are talking about the covid and of course I know about the crisis it's a worldwide thing I don't live in a cave and read the papers. The numbers of cars isn't something new , now I understand that tourism's money help to protect and that's great otherwise lions , Lycaons and other species would be in great danger of extinction but the numbers of cars in one place could be reduced because the noise and crowd might be disturbing the animals. Bye and thanks anyway for the great footage.
@@theric66
Great points once again.
I'm living here in East Africa. Covid has created this unique problem. We are seeing how crucial tourist money is for saving the animals. It's not ideal but it's the best we have at this point.
But I get your point. You're talking more about the quantity of vehicles in one location at one time. India and Sri Lanka take the prize on this, though. I've seen queues that are 30+ cars long waiting in line to see a sleeping tiger or leopard.
So, it could be worse. That doesn't mean it's good. Thankfully, the Mara banned all future lodge building. So, indefinitely, tourism will not expand inside the Masai Mara. That's a wise move.
Yes, it might be disturbing the animal. What's interesting is that my work in Ethiopia with the rare lions (check those videos out) has shown intriguing results. The lions don't know "vehicles" where I've been. So, they attack the vehicles. Whereas, the lions in the typical tourist safari parks have grown accustomed to the vehicles, even seeing them as a large, docile animal. So, I'm not so sure, once the animals adapt to seeing the vehicles constantly around, that the animals are that heavily impacted. In fact, sometimes, hiding behind or viewing from vehicles can help predators. Now, if you're on the side of the prey, that's not ideal. If you're on the side of the predator, it's good.
Any interruption or interaction by humans should be limited, though, so your point is definitely well taken. I suppose I'm only trying to point out some nuances.
Thanks again for watching. Have an amazing day!
@@TravelingTeachr worse like India doesn't make it good in East Africa now like I said this crowded system didn't start just now it was like that before the covid but anyway thank you for protecting those great animals and my opinion might be wrong about disturbing them and I'm not on any side life in the wild can be cruel for some but I accept it the way it is and love it too.
Just like everyone else to many people is worried more about the money then showing the animals on there Documentary.
What's the issue?
Poor animales because they have to be behind them so menu people do not leave them in peace the human as always just bothering to make money 😏😏😡😡🤬🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
They view the jeeps as benign, fellow animals. The jeeps are like "elephants" to them. Sometimes guides are foolish and get close enough to disrupt behavior. But this is rare. Often, if it happens, it is photographed or filmed by others and the company is reported, the driver released from duties, or the company even shut down.
The thing that, over the years, has most impacted animals is human greed and take over of habitats. Our cars, Walmarts, houses, and gyms were all spaces where animals once roamed freely. Our very lifestyles have harmed wildlife.
So, what should we do? Live is guilt every day? Maybe. I don't know.
WHY DO THEY INVADE THE TERRITORY OF THE WILD ANIMALS? .. WHY DO THEY BOTHER THEM? .. WHY DON'T YOU LET THEM LIVE IN PEACE. WHY DO WILDLIFE AND FORA DESTROY WHAT LITTLE IS? .. WHY ARE THEY SO MISERABLE THAT THEY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT DISTURBING WITH OTHER SPECIES? ..WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE BEASTS COME TO OUR CITIES AND TERRTITORIES AND DO THE SAME SOMETHING? THEY LIVE IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT.
While I can understand your frustration, the issue is very complicated. I live in Ethiopia and have for a few years now. Just this weekend, I visited a national park.
Here's the thing: if tourist money isn't flowing in, we (globally) currently don't have good mechanisms in most countries to preserve the land (America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia are exceptions, to name a few and they have found creative ways to bring income into those parks and so there's human encroachment regardless). When there's absence of tourist money in parks like this, then the farmers come and take over the land which is a death sentence for the animals.
So, what is a reasonable proposal? How do we actually solve this problem? Right now, tourist money is the best option we have to save the lands and keep human settlement away from these lands. If you come up with a solid solution, you will make a huge difference in the world.
Are they just playing ..???.
