Is this a revival that retains the scenographic elements of the original productions? I ask because we all know that Nicole Scherzinger's SB is a whole new production with a distinctive aesthetic (minimalistic and bare), but I personally prefer the visual splendor and glammed up camp (or campy glam?) of the OG.
@@t.e.burgos3263 I’ve not seen the NS version and the last time I saw this show at all was 20 years ago (don’t remember a thing about it so can’t compare) but this show has plenty of glam - colour, gorgeous costumes and sets. It is also supposed to be an entirely new production. We absolutely loved it, as did the entire audience.
@@4470greg well goodness me, another example of a reviewer being out of touch with public opinion. Between myself and my family, friends & colleagues, we’ve been at 7 shows in Melbourne in the past 2 weeks. Ridiculously long standing ovations at every one, representing thousands of VERY happy people. Reviewers are not entitled to tell an audience what their experience should be, and neither are you.
I'm very curious to see her emotion when singing "As If We Never Said Goodbye" because it will be Sarah singing her own story, back on stage after so many years, seeing behind the scenes, seeing that the "people in the dark" are still there , waiting for her. Will be amazing!
Really interested of seeing her take with this role especially when she says that line, I'VE COME HOME AT LAST...... First time back on the Musical Theater stage in so long. Her last major Theater role was ASPECTS OF LOVE (prior before she and Andrew split) before her long global solo music career. Sarah kept dreaming of going back to the Theater. You know what, timing worked out.
So glad that Sarah came back home to Broadway she slayed it as a backup dancer for cats killed it as Christine in phantom and slaughtered it as Norma in sunset Blvd
Its interesting to here her recordings for this role as shes a light soprano, the role demands a heavy chest voice. Lets see what Sarah has instore for us
Probably the closest to real life Norma Desmond is Catherine Zeta-Jones. Also, the scene where they keep re-watching her old movies, well, Angelina Jolie does that IRL.
Hopefully this production will come to Broadway and give the joke that's there, now, the boot. This is the kind of show that needs the works, not implied sets, costumes and talent. I've seen and heard enough of the current Broadway train wreck to know it just won't sit well with me. I'm not belittling anyone who does like it. I'm just too much of a purist.
Yes I didn't like the Palladium production with that American singer. I like the production with the original costumes. I would love to see it again. I was lucky to see a one night production at the royal Albert hall London. It wasn't Sarah brightman. But the production was there is a section on RUclips. Sunset boulevard at the royal Albert hall London you might take a look. 🇬🇧❤️🇦🇺
I wonder if this new Sydney show will be more similar to the previous years' Sunset Boulevard productions .. or similar to the London 2023/25 London West End (with Nicole Schezineger as ND). I went to see that one and I really missed the production value and the some songs they took out .
SB starring in SB! I love so much Sarah Brightman! But, as a line in The Phantom of the Opera: "She doesn´t have the voice". Ok, yes. She has the presence, the glamour and the beauty. But this character does not require enormous demands to sing but to act. That is why someone of the stature of Glenn Close is the best example of how, an occasional singer being a top Hollywood actress, has been the only, true and greatest star of all. Sarah, we admire you, but this role is definitely not for you.
Exactly..... She's not Patti LuPone, Petula Clark, Elaine Paige, Linda Balgord, Nicole Scherzinger, or any of the other actresses who played Norma. Really excited to her take on the part.@@arah6783
@@arah6783 I have seen some clips of Glenn Close doing this. If this guy can't see Sarah Brightman bugging her eyes out like that he doesn't know Sarah Brightman.

I’ve been wondering exactly the same thing. I wish the producers would release some behind the scenes clips (vocal preparation, rehearsals). I know that’s not really Sarah’s style but it would be nice to feel like we’re on the journey with her. Even just the odd photo of the rehearsal room would be appreciated

Musical? ...Please, get john travolta and elton john for the musical!!! In 10 or 12 years... Eva Green should be Gloria... No Other Female Actor on Earth... Eva Green will be Ready for The Close-Up then!!! NOBODY ELSE!!! Eva Green! 😮
So excited!!! Love her haircut!!!
Oh Sydney is so lucky to get to see Sarah Brightman play Norma Desmond.
no we aren't
I was at opening night in Melbourne on Tuesday. She was absolutely brilliant, as was the entire cast and the whole show. Highly recommended!
how was the singing did she sings soprano or mezzo ? ^^

Yeah, but it's not like she hasn't performed. Just not in musicals.
Maybe her Phantom fans will 💚. I love Sarah in her solo career era

She really done cut her hair
She never had long hairs. She was using hair extensions but who cares. She looks stunning, short hair or not.
@@Just_prettywhenicry you’re wrong she have long hair
@@Just_prettywhenicry Whether a short cut or wearing extensions for her albums and tours, Sarah is fantastic every step of the way.
Gloria Swanson had a facelift also. She was one of the first people in Hollywood to have one.
I would like to see her do Phantom - why not that role could suit a woman of any age. she would shine in Phantom again
I remember Sarah Brightman; she used to be big! Could they film a movie while they're at it, for those of us who can't make it to Australia?

She still is big! Look at her discography; she’s never stopped producing hit albums.
