I'm so blessed to be able to call NL my home for my entire life. I have lived in St. John's/Mount Pearl for 32 years. My children and grandchildren all still live here too. We enjoy all of the summer events you've covered and more! Loving your content!
Thanks! It's kinda tricky to try to appeal to folks who know nothing about this place AND people who know it well, but I'll keep trying. I really appreciate you.
I always have been attracted to the Rock, it's history and of course it's beauty, I'm from northeastern Ontario, and worked with Newfoundlanders in my 43 year hardrock underground mining career...a great channel that you have there btw.
We’ve been everywhere for a long time! Especially in places where industries like mining have needed hard workers. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the kind words about Newfoundland. And of course I really appreciate that you’re enjoying the channel!
Great video..left St.John's to join the Navy 50 years ago..try to get back as much as possible,, we will be there in 12 days :) the Regatta has always been my favorite day of the year. Lots of changes to the city since i left in 1973
I've been enjoying your videos, Mark. We're planning our visit to Newfoundland in August. We'll be in GMNP at the beginning of Aug so we'll miss the Regatta and the George St. Festival but will definitely check out the market! My grandfather's family is from Petty Harbor and Carbonear so I'm really excited to get my feet on Newfoundland soil and the Avalon peninsula and connect with all things Newfoundland!
I really appreciate you, and I’m glad you’re enjoying my videos ☺️☺️ There are so many awesome things to see and do around the Avalon, especially in those 2 towns (and the general areas around them). Have you been here before?
@@mark_royle_newfoundland I've never been to NL physically BUT I've been doing a deep dive research for the past 3+ months. When I visited P.E.I. (a very long time ago now), I heard Great Big Sea for the first time (and subsequently became a groupie/fan for awhile!). I wondered why I enjoyed the fish shanty/drinking songs so much! Then, I learned my grandfather's family was from NL, which then made perfect sense to me. I just feel a strong connection and must follow it through, see what happens. I tried planning a trip back in 2000 but it never came to be. While we are planning on "seeing and doing" the many unique sites, we love the serendipitous, spontaneous possibility of making meaningful connections with people along the way and having conversations.
I am always fascinated by your videos, your presentation is top-notch. I almost feel like a newfoundlander already. Applying to MUN. How i contact you?.
