I always look at the site plan online and get a good idea of where we want to go and hope it’s available when we get there. RUclips is a good place to look also as folks do tours so again you get a good idea of the site layout. We’re hoping to replace our camper-van with a caravan this year so will be in the same position as you guys learning all about caravanning!
We always check the map out on the website when we book it and see the best pitches so when you get there you already have an idea of the layout. Also you can plug your van into the water so no need to keep filling your aquaroll, and you can drain your waste stright into the drain without using your waste container. We have a pipe which connects to our drain outlets and goes stright into the drain. We have now been caravaning for 6 years and we are still learning about things.. Enjoy your van..
The wife did this the last time we visited actually and checked the layout first, but the only thing is, you never know who’s here when you get here 😂 Also the hose and pipes are in the basket ready to purchase as soon as many people said the same thing, so thank you for that! Thanks for watching and have a great new year! 😊
Put a fitted sheet over your mattress topper then when it’s ready to put away roll up the topper with the quilt and pillows and use a couple of holiday suitcase straps to hold it in place. We used to put that into a large water roll type bag and stand it up in the shower, then a night drop it onto the bed unclip the buckles and it will roll itself out 😅
Don't worry You are making all the newbie mistakes we all made when we first started motorhoming and caravaning. Looks like you are all having fun and getting involved.🎉🎉🎉
@@robertsandham8039 thanks for watching 😀 we enjoyed staying there I would recommend it and thank you I think we will try keeping the aqua roll upright
@ We are heading to Tredegar House club on the 27th with our 2 boys our second trip away for the new year really exited 😊 merry Christmas and happy new year 🥳
When setting up connect the mains electric lead into the caravan before connecting to the bollard so you’re not holding a live lead & when packing up disconnect the bollard first.
@@CaravanWithThatYorkshireChap it’s little things like this that we just don’t think of! Thanks for the advice and for watching, it’s much appreciated 🙏🏼
If your paying for a fully service pitch , get a mains adaptor kit for the aqua roll it fills itself up and turns on and off as required, and a folding waste pipe set so you then leave the wastemaster at home to .
Hi, we too always put the aqua roll upright otherwise it could roll away. With the normal TV which is not built for travel, it’s best to transport it on a bed snuggled in a quilt and surrounded by pillows to cushion it and secure it. We learned the hard way when our normal TV broke. Mattress toppers are a must we find, even on a fixed bed. We don’t use a drill though to operate the steadies, but prefer the “work out” when using the winder😂Happy caravanning.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for your advice I’ve been putting the tv in the cupboard 😬 so on the next outing I’ll put it on one of the beds like you said, sorry about your tv 😬
If you have a problem its Robs Wise ways lol ive got him on subscription so half the time i dont read the title he just pops up with some new tips hes pretty approachable too so if youve got a specific problem, he will help, but i think youll find that most of the caravan fraternity will help dont be afraid to ask.
Deffo drill, make sure you've got a fairly comprehensive toolbox with fuses. 12v TV is best if you go off grid, otherwise it doesn't really matter. Aqua roll upright. Yeah, I like my topper, too!
Thanks for watching, yeah I think a drill is definitely on the shopping list! That’s good to know with the tv thanks, I think aqua roll is best upright too, and I think the topper makes the difference. Really appreciate your comment 😀
We had exactly the same van. Mattress topper was the best thing I ever bought 😊. I sleep better in the van than I do at home! Ah, the old water tank valve fail. Only done that about 10 times, haha...
@@ewanturner4381 we were surprised just how much difference that mattress topper made, 100% well worth the money! Might even buy one for at home 👀 😂 thanks for watching!
I always leave my aquarol on its side just roll it to the tap and roll it back to the van. Put a a chock under to stop it moving. You don't have to lift to upright
Thanks for watching, appreciate your comment we do have a small stand for the aqua roll to sit on its side so we are going to try that. It’s just working out what works best.
It does get easier. I remember thinking when I started 4 years ago that caravanning is a lot of hard work, however we now have a routine that means we’re set up in about 30 minutes. The one thing I learned very early on (and this is a very personal thing) is the longer you’re away the easier it is, it’s a lot of work for just one night so we have a minimum 3 night rule now!! 😂 Tristan & Katie
Thank you for watching and commenting 😀 I think routine over time will help massively. We have made a lot of mistakes but we’re loving it! We are trying to get out as much as possible to get use to setting up but I can definitely see why you’re saying about 3 night it’s a lot of work.
Your little boy is a fab helper ! Like someone else said elec into van before into mains for safety. If you have 2 nights it’s much better value and feels a much longer break, maybe try a CL as cheaper per night, you might get 2 nights nearly as cheap as one x
Thanks for watching and commenting 😀 the boys absolutely love going out we’re just about to book a two night stay but to be honest there isn’t many sites open down this way. We have had a looked at some CL’s as that’s something we haven’t done yet.
Welcome to caravanning, hope you’re enjoying it? The purpose of being on a fully serviced pitch is so you have water, drainage etc, but to get the full benefit from a serviced pitch, you need to get yourself a Aquarol Mains Adapter, which comes with a 7M food grade pipe, which connects to the tap and then to the float in the aquarol. You’re then permanently connected to water! I didn’t notice one in your video. Regards, Steve.
Hi Steve, thank you for watching and I really appreciate this comment I didn’t know that 🤦🏼♂️ I’ll have to look into getting one that sounds a lot easier then how we have been doing it especially for the longer says we have coming up. Thank you
We had a pop up inflatable trailer tent for a few years but have just changed to a small caravan (Adria 361LT), had three trips out so far. We've made the same errors as yourself, the water switches particularly 😀. We had problems with the Truma water pump blowing the fuses so have changed to Whale with no issues. I'm going to invest in a watering can to make sure I keep the Aquaroll filled up (we keep it upright). We invested in Duvalays for the night time, pricey but they are fab, means we can do winter camping too. I can't imagine being without a motor mover either. Best of luck to you, I'll keep watching.
Thank you for watching and commenting 😀 it’s all a learning curve we are loving the journey though. I’m glad you got your water pump sorted that must of been a pain, that’s something I need to get is a watering can it would make life easier. And until my reversing improves I couldn’t live without the motor mover! 🤦🏼♂️😬😂
Upright aquaroll for us. How do you find the heating vent at the rear of the 6td? Going to insulate the pipe on ours as never seems to get that hot at the back
Thanks for watching, the back of the caravan is definitely cooler I would say I did try and shut the rest of the vents and just have the rear one open and I think it did make a bit of a difference.
Just a habit I suppose. We’ve always done both just for the extra bit of darkness at night. Some people have mentioned about the blinds possibly causing condensation too so we’re trying it all out to see what works best ☺️
Make sure you keep the site maps if you plan to return sometime. They should have the compass points on them, which can help you choose a pitch best for sunrise and sunset (East to West or West to East).
Jeez, don't worry. We are still learning after 14 years of caravanning 😂. We, just write everything down, that needs doing. So we have a list....I think that's because of our age 😂. But it does help. It's all about the adventure 🫣 ,take care and have fun, don't make it difficult. After the legs are down..... enjoy 😅 Take it easy xx
