Have you looked at the Caravan and Camping Club? Some of the rallies ate brilliant, we have gone last 2 years and booked again for next July already for Hendra in Newquay on a Fully Serviced pitch for £22pn. It's a great site for kids as well!! Oh and great videos!!!
Welcome to the world of touring. There's a plethora of things to forget from locking cupboards to leaving the aerial up. I have a sequence to aid hitching and un-hitching but I'm easily distracted and still miss things. Thing is all about making memories and this sounds like one you won't allowed to forget for a while.
Love a nice easy fix, it’s given me confidence incase it happens to me, good thinking with raising the front up to make life easier
Great Video. Keep enjoying making memories they’re priceless 👍
What a lovely little family. I have 2 boys that look very similar age. Caravanning is the best! Mine love the adventures as I see yours do too. As you are a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, I strongly recommend you look at the CL sites. These are 5 pitch, private sites and a lot cheaper and you get much more room. I would also recommend a site called Search for sites. This shows you all the sites around you, including the CL's. Happy caravanning and I look forward to seeing many more of your adventures.
If you're going fully servived more often id 100% the truma ultraflow its essentially a hose pipe direct into van from supply so no need for aqua roll. For us its been the biggest convenience. Keep up the vids informative and well edited
Also windows on the 2nd latch helps keep airflow up for condensation but heat in
We stared to caravan as we had young children, and a family holiday was getting expensive. A caravan on the other hand was a cheaper way for us to have a holiday with all the fun and freedom it affords.
If you don’t make mistakes you never learn👍👍
Absolutely right! That’s what we keep telling ourselves 😂
Never seen how to do this before and never thought to carry a spare, so thanks for that 👍. Off to Amazon...
It would definitely have been handy for us to know this beforehand too, so glad we could help! We will always now keep a spare for ‘just in case!’ Thanks for watching 😊
Good video. I think that cable is something that every caravaner should be able to change. Their not too hard to do and need changing if the outer is damaged! Which may not be cheap to have fitted as one off job. Talking of mistakes I've forgotten to remove both milenco wraith wheel locks (twin axle) before using quad motor mover! Lots of torque and two bend lock bodies & pins but still able to use them fortunately. Simple mistakes are easy to make even for more experienced owners. Love your honesty in the video.
Great little video. We all learn by our mistakes. My husband almost did it last year and we’re fairly experienced caravanners.
@@AmandaRogers-c6w thank you ☺️ we are learning along the way but loving the learning process… even if it is learning the hard way 🤦🏼♂️😆
Easy mistake, done it myself just after we had a new towbar fitted. All my own fault 😂
@@TrevorBoakes thank you for watching and commenting 😀 ohh no, well we live and learn 😂
Very easy mistake to make. You won’t be the first or last. A mistake I’ve nearly made more than once is to not disengage the motor mover. Luckily one of my crew has reminded me each time, as it would be a VERY expensive mistake to make. You’d think it wouldn’t happen after nearly 40 years, but, I was in a rush each time. So your right, don’t rush. 😊
@@alexrankin8263 oh wow, that would have been expensive 😬 but exactly that, we need to stop rushing so much and take our time .. even if it is awful weather 🤦🏼♂️
@ yep. I’m as guilty as the next man at rushing, even after all these years. That’s a great van you have chosen, really good value. Ours was new in 2013 and we kept it for 11 faultless years .
Hi wondered why you close your curtains I just close my blinds never used the curtains Lot of messing keep tying them up
Just a habit I suppose. We’ve always done both just for the extra bit of darkness at night. Some people have mentioned about the blinds possibly causing condensation too so we’re trying it all out to see what works best ☺️
Love the content as uaual😊 I think they put the prices us for Xmas and new year we are at Tredegar house in Newport atm and it’s £45 for the 4 of us per night then next week drops down next week looks like a lovely site you need to check Tredegar house out amazing loads for the kids to do as well 😁
Thank you really appreciate that 😀 I think they might, when we where looking at Winchester before they where fully booked they went up to £60 a night. Thank you so much for recommending the site we have a list of recommended so I’ll add that one too the list, thank you for watching! 😊
Great video guys like the way you vlog and look forward to following your adventures, I live in Littlehampton and can confirm Harbour Park is great for kids in the summer. We haven't renewed our CCMC membership this year as we find the sites overpriced and dislike the per person pricing, looking at the age of your children, I would recommend Warner Farm touring site, in Selsey it's not cheap but you get so much included, swimming, entertainment etc we've been going there for years and our grandchildren love it
Really appreciate that thank you ☺️ ah wow we did love Littlehampton that’s great to know, I think we will be back in the summer especially if it’s open. To be honest we have booked a few trips away but we have looking at other places to go so thanks for the recommendation I’ll add it to the list sounds great. We really don’t like how it’s priced too it really does bump up the price when you add everyone one. Thank you for watching 😀
Just been watching your first three trips away its a learning curve an so much to remember an do one tip before you put hook up to van make sure the trips are down on rcd board then flick up an push test button when connected just as precaution we been doing it for twelve yrs now an still forget to put drain tap down 4o ltrs dumped on to floor 😂
Thank you for watching and commenting appreciated it 😀ah wow twelve years that’s amazing, it’s been a massive learning curve but we really have enjoyed the process the up’s and down’s 😂 appreciate the tip I’ll make a note of that for next time.
Always fully unroll the hook up lead if not they heat up and could cause a fire 👍
Hi new sub been to hm six tmes now lovely si check out Wareham Forest Tourist Park, south lychett manor poole both great sites Re: aqua roll we stand are's up put pump pipe through a larger solid pipe it will stop it curling up in roll enjoy guys
Thank you for watching and subscribing really appreciate that 😀 we really enjoyed it there it was a lovely site, appreciate the recommendations we are making a list of of places to stay so I’ll add them too the list.
I think what you paid is expensive, especially for this time of the year even if it’s close to Christmas
Glad we’re not the only ones to think it was a tad pricey😬! Thanks for watching 😊
fully serviced pitch are a game changer when you have the full setup, sounds expensive for 2 nights though that site, try some CL sites, a lot cheaper, quieter and usually very nice, you wont get facilities like club sites, but with that caravan you'll cope well.
After reading through all the comments we are 100% going to look into CL sites to see what’s around! Gonna have a browse and look through some recommendations soon! Thanks for watching 😊
Love your channel. Suggest you put heating on low overnight.should stop window getting wet hope this helps y&r
@@richardellis3067 thank you 😀 really appreciate that, and we will have to try putting the heating on low next time we go out thanks for watching
Really enjoyed the video. You have a lovely family. We live in Littlehampton which caught my eye for the video, in the summer it’s really excellent! Keep up the great content very engaging.
@@ianjhood thank you for watching 😀 ah wow, we really enjoyed it at littlehampton and we will be back in the summer. Really appreciate your kind comment.
Where are you off to next, I’m sure you mentioned it. 😂
Wherever the wind will take us these day 😂😂
My gripe with the caravan and motorhome club is the way they charge for extra people when booking. A while ago I made a a mistake when booking a pitch, I’d gone through the booking thinking this is a good price £25 a night. Just before finalising the booking I realised I’d forgotten to put my wife on the booking, when I added her (one extra person) to the booking it put an extra £22-70 per night on the price. The pitch would be the same for one or two people, the amount of electric would be the same, maybe we’d use a bit more water and produce a bit more waste. And if we used the facilities it’d mean one more shower, in my mind £22-70 for slightly more water and waste plus one extra shower is a bit steep. I can understand a small charge for administration and an extra use of the shower, but not £22-70. So I do think the CAMC is ripping us members off by overpricing!
We said the same thing when we started using them for booking but didn’t know if it ‘was the norm’ with campsites as we’d never done it before! Glad to know it’s not just us 😅 Thanks for watching 😊
Just watched your vlog for the first time and found it very good. We started off caravanning 25 years ago with our kids (daughter 6 weeks old at the time ). We are still doing it and have learnt loads over the years. One thing to watch, your breakaway cable shouldn’t be hooked over the tow ball, if the caravan comes off the ball the wire can jump off to. It should be properly clipped to a secure ring on the tow bar for safety, on top of that if you get stopped with it looped over tow ball you could get fined. Keep up the good work 👍👍
Oh wow we had no idea about this! This is something we’ll have to look into… when we bought the caravan this is how the dealership taught us how to hook it all on as we had no clue what we were doing! Thanks for the info and Thanks for watching 😊
@ we were the same when we started out 🤣 You learn from others
Love watching your caravanning videos, Great content keep it up 😊
Thanks so much! Glad you like them 😊 thanks for watching!
Should also say try independent sites. Winter opening ones like the one up at Dunwich heath are super reasonable per night including electric ( just down coast from Lowestoft and Yarmouth) - and are on the cliffs above the beach with steps to beach. Not all campsites are CAMC rip off in winter but you need to know the good touring sites… check pitch up for independents
Thanks for the tip! Quite a few of the comments have suggested the same thing so it’s definitely something we’re going to look into from now on! Thanks again for the help! 😊
We rarely use CAMC. The other club is miles cheaper looks at the CACC temporary sites. Often charged at per unit per night at around 12-15 a night. The other thing in summer is a non EHU grass pitch can be as little as a tenner a night on their club sites. It’s often 40% off if you do grass no EHU and rely on your batteries and solar. Makes literally 3-4 nights at other club cost same as one at CAMC. Worth noting short stays at the other club often cost more as the discount codes mentioned only work for 3 night or longer stays in spring to October. So if you need only two nights book 3 !
Should say going as a family of 4 the THS sites avoid you needing to pay for the kids typically.
Oh that’s interesting to know about the short stays discounts! Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 😊
@@jeremysymes It does seem odd to book 3 nights when staying 2, but when it works out cheaper why not, it also means no rush offsite on a Sunday for lunchtime if doing fri-mon, allows you to leave evening Sunday. Once we realised this, we booked thurs to mondays quite often with the other club. CAMC unfortunatly does not get cheaper doing same, but until you figure out the booking systems you don't notice this. Get setup for offgridding in summer, and you'll not regret it, as the cheaper costs per night quickly repay the kit cost. Also look at the motorhome festivals and campout options. Often £20 per unit per night including live music and a full food court. First one (but it's a bit more) next season we doing is Campervan Campout. Despite the name caravans do go to the motorhome and caravan events, just check the bookings allow caravans before booking. Thats £180 for a van, including entertainment all weekend (and lots of stuff for a family to do) www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/shows/campervan-campout-festival
Didn’t even think of that regarding booking that extra night so that you can leave whenever the previous day! This would be great for us as you wouldn’t have to rush around to make sure we’re gone by lunchtime like you said! We’ve attended the CAMH show in the NEC previously and we absolutely loved that (before we got our van) but haven’t even heard of the one you’ve suggested so will have to have a look at that for sure!
@@jeremysymes Warners leisure run camping festivals at motorhome/caravan shows almost every other weekend in summer. Often only £80 for a Thurs -> Monday camp (again pay per unit not per night). Each one has a theme, and some are aimed at older clientle than campervan campout. Worth looking at them as they are both cheap camping, but with free decent entertainment on offer, as well as camping stuff to buy. They do offer EHU on a small amount of pitches, but the majority require a off-grid setup in your van. CAMC themselves run the largest festival where about 70% of the pitches do have EHU too, but it's about 3x the price (starts at £350) of the Warners ones. But it does have a lot more entertainment choices. Last year at teh CAMC one we had an approx 1.5 mile walk to the main events arena, as it's the largest camping festival, miles of caravans and campers.
Great Vlog, look forward to the next one 👍
Much appreciated 🙏🏼 thanks for watching! 😊
Great vlogs, especially the three sites we have not visited yet, nice work 👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃
We leave our blinds about an inch from the bottom over night, especially the panoramic window this has cured our condensation. 👍
Thanks so much for the advice, another one to add to the list to try! Thanks for watching 😊
We always check the map out on the website when we book it and see the best pitches so when you get there you already have an idea of the layout. Also you can plug your van into the water so no need to keep filling your aquaroll, and you can drain your waste stright into the drain without using your waste container. We have a pipe which connects to our drain outlets and goes stright into the drain. We have now been caravaning for 6 years and we are still learning about things.. Enjoy your van..
The wife did this the last time we visited actually and checked the layout first, but the only thing is, you never know who’s here when you get here 😂 Also the hose and pipes are in the basket ready to purchase as soon as many people said the same thing, so thank you for that! Thanks for watching and have a great new year! 😊
Another great video looks like a nice campsite was thinking of joining one of the clubs myself just an observation I noticed your breakaway cable was round the towball if you can find another way to attach it I have a hole on my towbar next to the electrics for the breakaway cable I know yours is a different setup but if the caravan was ever to come of the car the cable could possibly come of as well
Thanks for the info! When we collected the caravan that’s how we were told to attached the cable, to just pop it over the tow bar before hooking it on. As we didn’t know what we were doing, it’s all we’ve ever done 😂 thanks for watching!
Hi guys we all Make mistakes . If you are a member of the motorhome and caravan club join the chat room you will learn a lot there . Loads of other people on here doing caravan . Try keith & Michelle, carvan nut, trugians , beyond the blue door, to name just a few. We always connct to service pitches. Then there is only the toilet cassette to empty. We use the shower in our caravan so much easier. Have fun learning. Dave 😊 0:43
Another tip i got told, pull forward in the car abit so when you unhook your caravan your hitch is easier to remove from the tow ball. And i know the m27 so well😂im from Southampton 😊 looks like a nice camp site👍🏼
Thanks for the suggestion, didn’t think of that! Ahh that’s cool!! we visit Southampton often, mainly for shopping though 😂 thanks for watching!
We are a family of 6, we went camping in a tent and it rained so much it started to leak, my wife went on market place found an old 1989 5 berth swift caravan 10mins away from us, and we bought it there and then. Took it out few more times then decided to buy a newer one, bailey pageant auvergne 5 berth went out 7 times this year to some great camp sites .have booked 3 holidays for 2025 already. Love towing and love spending time with the family. Great video mate all the best
That’s what it’s all about isn’t it! Getting out and spending time altogether 😊we’re in the process of finding some to book ready for next year and we can’t wait! Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 😊
Ccc sites are so much cheaper that is double the price we pay
We will have to take a look at that one! Thanks for watching 😊
Hi great vlog. I'm not sure if site increase prices due to other site not opening all year round. I do know that many CAMHC members have either cancelled or not renewed their membership due to prices. Many private sites are competitive with pricing. It might be worth you having a look at family sites in the areas you want to visit. If you are going to book fully serviced pitches then I would invest in the hose and waste pipes to make full use and extra costs.
I have heard about people leaving due to the pricing but it’s each to their own I guess! I will definitely have to have a look at the family and private sites to see what’s about. I think I’ve found one website that was pretty good so me and the wife will see what we can find! The hose and waste pipes are in the basket as we speak 😂 thanks for watching! 😊
Hi, Just flicking through RUclips and came across your channel. CAMC sites do have dynamic pricing especially now, we know this has we have seen a big price change in our 16 yrs of caravaning 😮. If you are going to keep using serviced pitches, then yes, get the hose and grey waste pipes 😊. One way to help reduce condensation is to open the kitchen window whilst cooking. Also at night time just close the curtains and leave the blinds open helps with air flow to the windows. Enjoy your van. 👍
We thought this was the case and if anyone was to know it would be you guys! 16 yrs is definitely something to be proud of and something we are aiming for if we make it 😂😅 We are currently hunting online to find the best places to purchase the hose and pipes, probably Amazon for ease. A few people mentioned about the cooking and we will definitely be making sure we open more windows when cooking next as we only had the door open i think! Thanks for watching 😊
Wow - £50 a night, maybe time to look outside of the CAMC. UK Campsite Finder (you may already use this), threw up several sites (EHU, hardstanding, toilets/showers, dogs, park) within a 15 mile radius of Salisbury. Good luck on your next travels. Many private/independent sites include for up to 4 people in their prices - the CAMC charge for each person and the cost can soon ramp up. As an example, Littlehampton CAMC, 29th December (one night), one adult, £26.30, two adults £38.40, two adults + 2 children £46.00. So a child only costs you £4 extra but an adult £12 extra!! Do try non Club sites, I think you'll be surprised at the value and quality. PS - subscribed, interesting to follow your journey as newbies and real world reviews. Have a great 2025.
Haven’t heard of UK campsite finder but will definitely be looking into it now so thank you for that and also thanks for taking the time looking at all the info provided in your comment, it’s much appreciated! Will deffo be looking at non club sites for a while to see what’s around. Thanks so much for subscribing and for wanting to follow our new venture… even with all the mishaps and mistakes along the way 😂
A couple of windows in night mode overnight normally does the trick with condensation, although you may have already had a build up from the cooking before you slept.
That’s quite true, didn’t think about that. Maybe something to consider next time as we’ve not used them on night mode before. Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching 😊
Sounds expensive! There are several general comments about the cost of camc site fees a lot of folks have cancelled their membership because of high costs. Don't know how they arrived at that cost I went to Sandringham camping and caravan site (I'm a member of both) I know it's only me and the dog but for 4 nights on a grass pitch with electric it cost me £64. Yess I've got an OAP discount dogs go free the staff are fantastic helpful take you to your pitch on a bike, facilities are fantastic and well up to snuff. Your getting better with practice. It's always a learning curve. Have a prosperous and happy new year
We’ve heard the same but being new to it all, we didn’t know if it was just us that thought it was a tad bit more expensive than usual. Thanks for watching and have a great new year also! 😊
To help with condensation, crack a couple of roof lights on vent. Obviously heat rises and with all you in the caravan is going to cause a lot of condensation. Hopefully this helps 👍🏻
Thanks for the tips! Will definitely have to add this to the list. Thanks for watching! 😊
I think it would be a stretch to claim they have "dynamic pricing" but price definitely varies by demand at any time of year, you can see it on their booking site if you look at availability over a longer window. You should try a Camping and Caravanning Club site just to compare, usually cheaper and friendlier, less regimented, a bit more chilled. I agree that the number of club sites open all year is disappointing. We've done Littlehampton in the summer, nice location, had a couple of good days out to Bognor and to Brighton on the train.
It is called dynamic pricing by all as they are trying to be the Ryanair of caravans for profit, high charges when can due to losing so much customer bookings with low service.
We will definitely be revisiting in the summer months that’s for sure, so good to know it’s worth it! We have recently (past few weeks) being looking on the CC&C site to have a look at what’s around but it’s limited because we’re not members so that’s something else for us to consider 😊 Thanks for watching!
We have a mini dehumidifier that we run through the night. We stayed there earlier this year on pitch 31. A very nice little site.
Might have to think about one of those too! It’s a lovely little site, we were surprised how big our pitch was!
Thanks for the window 🪟 hoover tip. Will try that out. Sounds expensive to me! But place looks good. Fully serviced pitches look after water coming in via taps and water going out via drains. Saves a lot of hassle 😊
When you try it out you’ll have to let us know how you get on! 😃 Don’t get me wrong, the place was great and clean and tidy but we weren’t sure if they were upping it because of the time of year and all other camp closures for the holidays 😬
Great zlog. We are in our first year with a caravan and there is so much to know. It will all come the norm soon. The level of condensation you have seems extreme. Could be from cooking.
We are slowly learning as we go and obviously with the help from everyone’s recommendations on here has been so useful for us! Someone else commented about the cooking too, and we never even thought about that so that’s good to know, thanks for the tip and thanks for watching 😊
Another great video. Thank you 😊
Thank you for continuing to watch 😃
What a lovely family, enjoyed your vlog, glad you came up on my feed. Will look forward to following you in the future.
