Welcome to Chinese Entertainment Update August 18th 2019 edition. Here are some stories in Chinese drama land that caught my attention in the past week and I thought I'd share it with you guys.

i have watched ashes of love and it made me want to watch more Cdrama.. i will try to watch the untamed since a lot recommend this

For me, anything with Zhang Binbin costume drama especially with Dilraba, .. their on screen registration is overflowing with great charisma... He carries his character very well with great facial expressions and movements.. with stern face and penetrating look... His gaze are not like those typical Chinese actor.s.... 😜😍The costumes in King's Woman are magnificent.. They said its unique and heavy among Chinese costume drama even like more of Korean nonetheless, its so expensive and attractive to see... And one more I like this drama cause its semi-fictional.. Based on real history.. 😁

Since the day Ashes of love ended I couldn't move on, such an amazing drama it is, my all time fav,,,, until one month earlier when The untamed came to my life❤❤ Grandmaster of demonic cultivation is my most fav novel & the drama adaptation is superb...so Ashes of love & The untamed are my most favs of all time❤...Xiao zhan & Denglun has occupied a huge space in my heart, they r my no.1 celebrity crushes🥰🥰❤❤
Ten miles ,,ashes of love,,minglan ,,EVERNIGHT and UNTAMED,,,I love this drama,,,I'm waiting for the season 2 of EVERNIGHT I want to know the ending of sangsang and ningque😍😘,,,and for UNTAMED still I'm waiting for last 4 epi but this drama really tied me,,tame me omg,,,after this may be I need a break and see my feelings can't move on,,,,,XIAOZHAN and WANG YI BO did a great job,,,my all time fave drama,,,hahaha thank you for including it your top 10 marcus,,,,
It has been 3 years since Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms was on air. It's still my no.1. Mark Chao is my most favorite actor. I don't see many male actors even in Hollywood (except Russelll Crowe) who can cry with the eyes and facial expressions as good as him. I still am in love with Crown Prince Ye Hua.

#4 Ashes of Love- Luao Yunxi- the night diety was voted the most handsome man in Chinese costume by one of the polls. He definitely is more handsome than Deng Lun - the lead.
#5 Legend of Fuyao was good until the middle of the story then dragging at the end.
I can’t believe you like legend of yunxi. I found the ending confusing.
Please watch the rise of the Phoenix . You will meet Cheng Kun and you will forget about mark chao
I absolutely love costume dramas! I started with Empresses in the Palace but my 3 favourites are Story of Yanxi Palace, Ashes of Love and 10 Miles of Peach Blossoms!!

Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms is even way much better than the Pillow Book... The Untamed and Ashes of Love is also better than it may it be story wise or actors portrayal of characters 👍

Oh. Yanxi palace was extremely nice. Also story of minglan. Even though I prefer fantasy dramas. But these ones were very nice.
Yes! The rise of the Phoenixs is my favorite because it is a classic tale and is relevant then and now. Chen Kun at his best after 10 years absence on the small screen. Some of the costume dramas you mentioned and are super popular are more like fantasy fairy tales except for the two Nirvana dramas.Really like your reviews🤗🤗🤗

Used to not like or interested in costume dramas or any Chinese dramas for that matter until I watched Ashes of Love. Now I'm hooked haven't watched any kdramas in a while now

I love how you are very frank about your feelings and recommendations of films. I do exactly what you recommended when I get to dragged on boring parts of dramas and skip lol. Ashes of Love was one of them as it dragged towards the end and didn’t have a satisfying ending for me, so I was very thankful to not have wasted so much of my time on it. 😂

TheRiseOfPhoenixes is a master piece of chinese drama!! I fell in love with the two lead characters. I don't quite understand why is not as popular as it should be, maybe because of his complex but fascinating story. By the way, the description you've made of it it's a little strange. Was not the story of rebel prince NingYi and his ex-fiancee FengZhiwei ascending to the power? I've seen many of the dramas on this list and I still can't with the magnificense of TheRiseOfPhoenixes and the love between NingYi and FengZhiwei. ♥️

All the dramas has a great effort from their team for making that dramas so beautiful in costumes. But im fall im love with the costumes of the king's woman.. is numero uno😭💝 then nirvana in fire, the legend of fuyao, ten miles of peach blossoms👍👍
Costume dramas are some of my favorite in Chinese dramas thanks for the video now I can add a few more to my watch list that I haven't seen yet.

Ever Night, Rise of the Phoenix and Nirvana in Fire 2 are my personal top 3.
I’m more of a Martial Hero Wuxia watcher, but surprisingly two out of my top 3 are political styled costume dramas.

Marcus Sim - actually none I can recognize off a first look. I probably know them due to my very unhealthy addiction to Chinese dramas, but pretty sure they’re fairly new faces, atleast not common.

I love Legend of Fuyao, Princes Agents, 10 miles of Peach blossom. I like Nirvana in Fire 2 n Tribes n empires but I hate d ending of the latter. For some reason I haven’t seen the 1st Nirvana, I should probably watch that. I like Untamed but now I prefer Novoland than Untamed. I started watching Chang an, ashes of love, rise of the phoenixes, story of Ming lan n yanxi palace but I stopped, just lost interest. I prefer watching historical dramas than the modern ones. So probably I would continue watching them😁 thanks for your recommendations. They really help even though some I don’t agree😜 Continue what u do👍👍

I'm too excited after hearing the news about it's sequel and at the same time it's saddenes me because Ning Que is no longer portrayed by Arthur. Hi, Marcus. Your list is always spot on, although I did drop Princess Agent half way 😕. I like your list of 5 recommended costume drama as well, I love NIF and NIF2, but never got around to watch the rest, well since you've recommended it, I'll give it a try.. Right now I've just started watching Mindhunter season 2 on Netflix, finally my need for drama is sedated. And best of all I can watch and crochet at the same time, no need to read the subs 😝

i dropped princess agent as well. i don't know why people like it so much. the acting was okay, but i didn't like the story.

To be fair, the novel for Princess Agent is good, actually very good. But the producer decided to split the novel to two seasons ( for sake of making more money ). Then the later half of first season became too watered out, if the whole novel in one season, then it would be action packed, keep you constantly on the edge of your seat. Acting was fine though.
@@dianad150 I'm sure the novel is good, I heard somewhere zhao liying is an avid reader and was very excited to do this drama. So the direction it took might have disappointed her as well.
I have a question from your previous video regarding the #UNTAMED...Why is it that there's not much promotion on this Drama? I just saw it early July that it already aired....and saw previous clips or photos of their shooting...
I'm guessing it's because they rushed to premiere it so that it won't coincide with the 100 days of patriotic broadcasting, hence there wasn't much promotion. Just my educated guess.

You can watch the untamed at tencent videos here in youtube, it is highly recommended, I really enjoyed watching it, I became an instant of the 2 main lead actor Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, they are perfect for the role of Wei Ying/ Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan/ Han Guang Jun plus the untamed ost is the best
Tencend has an english App it is called WeTV. There you can watch the whole Drama. They have chinese Dramas with subs.

@@chebelme people say that in the novel and anime it is a BL, but in the live action because of censorship, it has a subtle bromance , you have to watch it , you will not regret , it is very addictive especially towards the end because of some revelations ( between the 2 brothers Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying) is one of my favorite scene is epi 46, I'm still waiting for the last 4 episodes

I love Eternal Love/ TMOPB and Legend of Fuyao. For some reason I cannot get into Ashes of Love. I've tried watching it like 3 times. 😂

The first few episodes were kinda boring I kinda agree... I think I just
have such a curiosity why something is popular that I have to keep trekking on. The beginning was all about Jinmi trying to gain cultivation by any means necessary to save her friend. It was also about Xu Feng falling in love with Jinmi but he’s not all that expressive and she’s kinda clueless. It does get ridiculously good afterwards though. I love Ten Miles but Ashes surpasses Ten Miles for me. The story is better in my opinion.

I agree on Nirvana in Fire is one of the best Chinese Dramas ever. The story, the directing and acting, all are top. Unfortunately it was a Drama for my brain only and didn't really touched my heart. Everything made so much sense that it had not one surprise and all the characters were so untouchable that I couldn't feel with them. It is too artsy and perfect.
