- Here is another of my favorites and what I consider to be the best version of
"Needles & Pins" by Smokie. I bought the album at the Frackville Mall decades ago and the mall is not there anymore. Ordered a new Turntable
for my records that I can't get on CD and the turntable is not the mag input but direct RCA out into the sound board. This really kicks. Hope you all like
it!
Gotta admit, this is a superior version!😅
never heard this version before but as you stated it is great. love it!!
WOW!!!
Cool thank you.
Co-written by Sonny Bono in 1963! Wikipedia shows five major versions. The Searchers' 1964 version is certainly the best-known in the US.
Jackie DeShannon (1963)
The Searchers (1964)
Smokie (1977)
Ramones (1978)
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (1985; live)
Heard and love all 5 versions. Great!
You forgot to mention Cher
Sounds like it should be used in a Taratino movie.
Remember this in the UK Charts at the time. Smokie were/are a fine group, having a Rock demeanor but playing in a softer way, if that makes sense, a bit like another british group, Status Quo.
I remember this song well.. to go back to those days...
One of my favorites as well. Love the Searcher's version but agree this is probably the best version. However let's remember Smokie recorded this a decade or more later.
I first thought the man on the cover was Ozzy Osbourn for a second
100% agree with you. This is definitely the best version. It is even better than the original version by the searchers. Thank you for the new enhanced version.
A great cover version, but the earlier Searchers version is still the best.
I just did that one too for you Searchers fans!
@@cinematic35 Thank you. Always appreciate your enhancements.
Great version by this rarely played group Kenn. Love the turn table. Bet when you say, I played this on my Victrola, it get a few comments like, "was this record put out on a 78rpm? 😁
I've always loved smokie such an underrated band they are the british eagles. The two best 3 and four part harmony bands. Noone sounds like smokies Terry Uttley,Alan silson and chris norman and the eagles glenn frey, randy misner and don Henley. Noone can replicate the sound of those two bands no matter how hard they try. Would love to hear you do an enhanced version of living next door to alice by smokie they clean one the original bot that who the f***I is alice crap
Sounds good but i think you should bring the vocal out more , it sinks into the background out to much
This version is not better than the Searchers! The original, also rode the great English wave into America!!!
MAN i loved it . Looked great too and i have the yellowish 45.Thank you very much for getting this clip out.....
Buenisimo que suban temas de los 70, no soy de esa epoca pero reconosco que habian Artistas de verdad con muy lindos temas.
one of the few times ....I wished for the Searcher's version but got... You do g00d work!!! but miss the other version,,,hint hint.
Maybe I'll have to do the searchers version as well since many like that one too! Kenn
@@cinematic35 just keep it on the ol' burner my friend. You do g00d work!!
👍👍👍👍
Great nice and clear sound ,Kenn PS i prefer this version too .
