An afternoon masked dance was one of our Senegal highlights. Know that the animistic people consider Masks to be spirits who play an important role in their daily lives and solve conflicts.
Watch Marine Steve (who rarely appears in the videos) join the dance and bust some moves.

This was so much fun to watch. The masks and costumes were fantastic ! I have to say that Steve stole the show. We never see him very much in the videos and I never knew he had all those moves! And you're always so good about interacting with the locals. Very interesting trip ….. looking forward to more of your adventures !
For me, interacting with the people is what makes traveling through 3rd World countries worth all the stress and fatigue. Like I replied to Daniel, I couldn't stop laughing when he casually strolled out to join in! Locals didn't ask him to join in and were thrilled that he took the initiative. Thanks for watching and sorry for late replies but no WiFi. Best to you, Sheila
I love my culture and my Diola people ♥️♥️♥️
That was such a great experience! And we had so much fun with the people. I don’t blame you for loving your culture and people. ❤ Thanks so much for your time to view and comment. Best regards, Sheila
Who's here after instagram 👍
I’m there life
Steve!!! LOL! Good for him! I wish I had the energy of those girls who were dancing! The masks were amazing! I would have been out there dancing too! And good for you Sheila for getting out there too!
One of the best parts of getting "old" is losing fear of what other people will think. Don't you agree?
Your laughing is giving me life! I love it all!
😂 I am so glad you enjoyed the video! Steve absolutely cracked me up when he decided to join the dancers and I couldn’t stop laughing. I like to laugh anyhow and can almost always find the humor in any situation. Very best to you and hope you and yours are all well during the pandemic. Sincerely Sheila 🥰
I get some of my dancing abilities from my Jola ancestors. I can see this, now. Thanks for sharing.
I don't know what is Steve's excuse 🤣 Must have just been the catchy rhythm. Thanks so much for your time to view and comment and best regards, Sheila 😍
Steve did better than I would! Stunning performance. Thank you!
I was laughing so hard, I could barely hold the camcorder. It was such fun!

He did his best and was the only person in the group who put it all out there. 😂 Beat or no beat. 😂 Thanks so much for your time to view and comment and I wish you and yours a very Happy New Year. Regards, Sheila 😍
