Hi Mr. Symmonds, I’m a 800m high school runner and I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I’ve been doing your ab workout for 2 months everyday during the night after running practice, and I’ve seen a complete change. Running has become so much easier, and I am even hungrier for this coming track szn. Thank you for everything, and I look forward to watching your future videos! All the love from Dublin, CA!
Egg roll x3 (each side), Thoracic twists 3x (each side), Toe to hand 3x (each side), scorpions 3x (each side), v ups 10x, SL V ups 10x (each side), Arch up x10, pelvic tilt x10, bridge and V up 10x, supine pedestal running 10x, supine pedestal running 10x (each leg), supine leg lift 10x (each side), side leg lift 10x ( each side), prone leg lift 10x (each side), push-ups 10x, floor lay 1x 😊
Is this the only strength training you do all week (Mondays and Wednesdays core)? Are you planning on doing a video anytime soon on your pre run warm up (dynamics) and/ or your post run stretching? I think that would be very cool!
I also lift on M and W after doing the core. I will be adding that in starting in August. You can see some of what I do in the gym on vlog 002. I dont do any kind of warm up before I jog.
Nick, I just wanted to let you know that you are an absolute inspiration man. Your vlogs keep me motivated through the week to get out there and keep working hard. i really appreciate these vlogs, and cant wait to see more. Thanks for being my hero, Nick. Much love from the Kansas Jayhawks, Rock Chalk.
Burpees are my favorite because they are so affective but also my least favorite because they're way too physically exhausting. How do you build the strength to do hanging leg raises?
Nice routine. Would love to see the full 5 minutes of exercises rather than 3 seconds of each with commentary on how to perform each exercise correctly.
Pull/push ups, hanging leg raises, banded lat raises, single arm overhead lunges, and single leg rdl (weighted or bw) 4-10 reps x 3-4 sets.. 2-3 times a week
Hola Nick! Thanks for sharing your videos ...I met you in San Luis Potosí , Mexico ...when you came to train here after London Olympics Games , you came with Leonel Manzano . Regards !
Wow I didnt know core meant doing things like hips and back... I usually just do something like 50 leg lifts and 100 crunches and call it good. Guess I took "core" too literally. Great video!
New favorite exercise: floor lay! Old one was iron cross. Is core and weight training the only supplemental strength training you do, or do you do plyos/something else as well?
lookin forward to see how proper pro lifts. suspect wasted 15 yrs with deadlifts squats lunges bench press shoulder press an the like getting heavier an heavier. And the 50 mile slow fatigued weeks always seemed to be detrimental effect hopping to finally break sub 60 for 400
Nick - this was a kick butt workout but I didn't feel it in my core hardly at all. Perhaps my form was bad? Almost everything was felt in the groin or hamstrings. Thanks!
I have two questions. For the back planks where you lift your legs, it really hurts my hamstrings. Is it supposed to be that way. Also for the V-Ups do I keep my legs straight or no. Other than that this is great. It is really making my high school running so easy!!
hey nick, is it good if i do 100 pushups (50 at beginning and 50 at end) and then a minute each of crunches, situps, side planks, front plank, side crunches, and bicycles? should i add anything else ?
whereabouts in a weekly schedule could you/would you fit in a more full on circuits session. intensified Insanity style workout or boxing circuit or Kettlewell session. I've tried adding on a 45 min session 6am on an easy day and then steady run 6 miles in evening but that regime compromises the proper hard run session the next day. Eg 8x800 off 2mins. Have tried doing the circuit session after proper hard session but got nothing in me to attack the workout. really labour through. How do you solve the recovery problem. I'm not Pro athlete.
thanks Nick for your advices from a champ, i'd like you to tell me what sprints to do for preparing a running 21km is better for distance or time? example 6 reps 800 mts or 8 reps for 2min( 4min/km) , i do only 10kms on 48min is so much time for me such as beginner thank u brother from Mexico
“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.” - 1 Corinthians 15:1-6 NIV

Burpees are my favorite because they are so affective but also my least favorite because they're way too physically exhausting. How do you build the strength to do hanging leg raises?
I hate burpees! But they are a great exercise. I have always had the strength to do a hanging leg raise so I'm not sure how to build up to it tbh.
Been looking to change up my core workout specifically for running. Trying this tomorrow! Thank you 😏👌🏽 new subscriber and possibly new customer.lol.

Regards !
More core routine please
I got injured last year mainly due to not doing much core work. Now I do core 3x a week and been feeling great since.
great to hear!
Wow I didnt know core meant doing things like hips and back... I usually just do something like 50 leg lifts and 100 crunches and call it good. Guess I took "core" too literally. Great video!
soooo many muscles that go into posture. thanks for watching!
New favorite exercise: floor lay! Old one was iron cross. Is core and weight training the only supplemental strength training you do, or do you do plyos/something else as well?
some plyos. I'll show of this in august when I start adding it back in to my training
thanks Nick for your advices from a champ, i'd like you to tell me

Hi, be great if you could release the real time version of this for people to follow along. Thanks
I'll try that floor lay
by far my favorite one ;)
lookin forward to see how proper pro lifts. suspect wasted 15 yrs with deadlifts squats lunges bench press shoulder press an the like getting heavier an heavier. And the 50 mile slow fatigued weeks always seemed to be detrimental effect hopping to finally break sub 60 for 400
This is my weekly core regime
Nice one. I like the beat too. Anyone knows the song's name?
"Floor lay x1" LOL!
Nick - this was a kick butt workout but I didn't feel it in my core hardly at all. Perhaps my form was bad? Almost everything was felt in the groin or hamstrings. Thanks!
I'm going to dos after every long run from now on
great idea!
I usually just do a ton of planks... Usually 4-6 minutes total of planks along with 2-3 minutes of side planks to go along with it as well.
planks are good. they are my least favorite!

thats a great one!
Do you have a link to a video of your final professional 800?
Im sorry, I do not!
Can you show us some lifting too? I really want to start lifting more this summer but I don't know what to do
I will in August when I add it back into my routine. Check out vlog 002 for a glimpse.

I usually do a full lifting day on M and W after my run and core. I'll vlog those in August.
What do you think to Plank exercises for runners ?
60 seconds bicycle abs. last 15 seconds is all pain!!!
oohh thats a good exercise
I tried to do every day and i started to have some back pain so it's not that good for an everyday thing maybe take two days in a week off
V Ups with medicene ball

Any tips to stop walking and start running cross country
DO NOT WALK. Even if you are only jogging 15 minute miles. Pick a pace you can hold for the entire distance and run the entire thing.
Nick Symmonds thanks man I just finished running running a mile straight
well done!!
Nick Symmonds do you do daily vlogs
yes
I feel like hes the tai lopez of running
