Mendolins??? It's a Portuguese guitar! It has nothing to do with a mendolin! It has 6 doubled-strings, the mendolin has 4. The tuning is completey differente, and the picking technique, with thumb, index and middle fingers, is also notably different from what you do with a mendolin.

And it is the 6th most spoken language in the world.
